It's 3pm and I still can't believe the world feels basically the same as it did yesterday before my Cubs won their FIRST WORLD SERIES IN 108 YEARS! Even this morning, I kept looking around thinking that something should be different, like maybe unicorns would be shitting rainbows in my backyard, but NOPE. Same ol' same ol'. Just two wieners and one poodle pinching poop loafs. I'm okay with the sameness though, because it happened. IT HAPPENED.
I'm a third generation fan. My grandma had tea at Wrigley Field with her lady friends. They wore their fancy gloves and broaches and politely cheered for their team. Now at home...my grams cussed and cranked while drinking coffee and wearing her housecoat, pockets stuffed with hankies. <3 If she wasn't already dead, she would have dropped dead from sheer shock and joy last night.
I'm not gloating, by the way! I'm bummed for the Indians and their fans. If they make it back next year and are NOT playing the Cubs, I'll root for them to win.
In the meantime, I'm just gonna look at ALL OF THE JOYFUL photos and listen to the celebrations, because next week, OH SHIT, next week, we've gotta elect a leader for our great country and I'm finding it hard to root for either of them.
Go Cubs GO. Fly the W. Chicago Cubs THANK YOU FOR THE JOY!
