FAMILY MOVING OUT OF COUNTRY! A PROVEN FAMILY PET Of THREE YEARS LIVED WLOVED CHILDREN AGES 6 LOVED A SMALL YORKIE SUPER FRIENDLY EXUBERANT AFFECTIONATE & PLAYFUL INITIALLY SHY WNEW PEOPLE WARMS QUICKLY HOUSETRAINED KNOWS COMMANDS IN ENGLISHSPANISH GREAT WPOLITE DOGS Waiting for YOU in Rrooklyn TO BE KILLED – 9142017 FLASH’s family is moving out of the country and he’s being left behind He loved his family including the many children ages 6 – 9 and the small Yorkie who was his Best Friend they slept together! Flash was with his family since he was a small puppy so of course he is anxious and nervous and wondering what he is doing at the worst kill shelter in all of NYC But he is trying his best and did beautifully in his safer – he rocked it as a matter of fact! He was a polite greeter in doggy playgroup too though he prefers pups who are as respectful and polite as he is When he gets anxious and remembers that he has been abandoned he chews on his leash a sign of stress many of us on the MLD teams have pups who did that at the shelter but once in a family home and given time to decompress and relax this behavior resolved FLASH has a lot of puppy enthusiasm he loves to play he adores toys and he needs the kind of training that all puppies get but that he never got – he needs calming exercises like “place” or “down” and the command “drop itleave it” so he understands that if he drops a ball you can then throw it for him making the game a LOT MORE FUN! He has a heart of pure gold and there’s not a bad bone in his whole beautiful body He just needs an experienced adopter with no young children so he can share all his wonderful gifts with a new family Housetrained bi-lingual he knows Spanish and English! he is affectionate loving and sweet Please save FLASH’s life PM our page for assistance 09112017 AT RISK MEMO Flash A1124488 is at risk due to While Flash showed no issues with the children in the home he has shown a number of warning and distance-increasing behaviors to different handling triggers Due to these behaviors we recommend an experienced adopter and an adult-only home Potential challenges _X_ Fearful-Flash is timid with new people He manages his stress well and has not escalated from a growl but he does need time to warm up to new people He does best with a slow approach and should be permitted to greet new people at his own pace and to initiate interaction rather than being approached and pet immediately by a new person so he has time to adjust and become comfortable before he is handled He should be spoken to softly and gently _X_ Anxiety- Flash has shown some signs of potential anxiety in the care center tense and attempts to exit continually through the SAFER and through play sessions outside This behavior was not reported at intake the owner profile does not note anxiety so we cannot be certain
