Hello, my name is Lily. My animal id is #56732. I am a desexed female brown tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 10-Mar-2019, with the surrender reason stated as person health - going into care facility.
Lily is at risk for behavioral reasons. Lily has remained fearful at the care center and has exhibited distance increasing behaviors. While Lily does allow for some handling, she quickly becomes nervous and retreats from the handler. Lily would be best suited for an experienced, adult only adopter who can provide Lily with a slow approach to help her gradually adjust to new people and environments. Medically, Lily seems healthy.
Let's get to know each other a bit more...
A volunteer writes: This sweet gal was quite shy today. Mostly she remained in the back of her condo facing away from the world. However, with time, and some quiet talk and gentle petting, she finally turned around and took a gander at the outside world. While I gently petted her, Lily, she was watchful, but blinked softly. Lily needs to find her forever home where she will be given the time to come out of her shell and become part of her new family. Patience and gentleness are the watchwords with sweet Lily. Are you ready for this sweet cat?
