AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION ~ MAYA #2642
Bonjour mes amis! Je m'appelle Maya. As you’ve probably guessed, I’m from Quebec and am seven years old, although my foster family say I act more like a four-year-old as I still have lots of ‘puppy qualities’ in me. I was found in a shelter by the wonderful people at Golden Rescue. I was in pretty bad shape and also suffered from a thyroid condition which made me put on a lot of weight. But my thyroid is now under control with meds and I’ve lost 15 pounds. In fact, there has been such a transformation, my amazing foster mom has nicknamed me ‘Beauty’. Pretty good, n’est pas? Now here is the huge important thing about me. I CAN’T BE AROUND OTHER DOGS. I have a bad case of fear aggression. My trainer has been working with me on this but I haven’t improved too much SO…and I know this is difficult, I just can’t be around other dogs. A big home with a fenced yard in the country with no immediate neighbours with dogs would work. It’s no use trying to make me ‘better’ by exposing me to other dogs or taking me to the dog park or walking me where I might encounter other dogs. It is best to just let me be with you and get my exercise in the backyard. I know this is a big thing to ask but if you can figure this out here’s what you get in return…I just love people. I have been described as very sweet, playful, loving, cuddly, and loyal. I love every person I’ve met. I have lots of energy ~ I play hard and I sleep hard, just like a puppy, but I can expend my energy running and playing in your backyard. I’m used to that and love it. I’m not a big barker unless I come across another dog. Loud noises don’t bother me but thunder…not so much. I can be left alone with no problem as you go about your chores. So you see, I do have lots of good qualities but if you choose me you have to be prepared to keep my away from other dogs. I know that’s a big ‘ask’ and I’m sorry. I wish I could tell you, what in the past, has made me this way but ‘C’est la vie!’ ~ it’s what life has dealt me. Boy, I sure hate being a problem for Golden Rescue. They have been so good to me. Merci beaucoup to all who have helped with my journey. I’d like to close by quoting the Moody Blues:
I know you’re out there somewhere…somewhere…somewhere…
