TO BE KILLED 5/7/19
You'll get some good laughs when you hang out with Harley Quinn! @MACC A staff member writes: Harley Quinn came to us as an owner surrender. Harley is shy at first but after she gets comfortable she is friendly and outgoing. She loves being petted, sitting on laps, and getting belly rubs! She'll even show you her appreciation for all of your affection by giving you a wet sloppy kiss! Harley also is exuberant around kids and is potty trained as per her previous pet parent. While she is sure to love all of your attention, she is also well behaved while she is home alone. Harley truly is an awesome, amazing dog who is in need of a second chance. Will you send your love to the rescue today?

Yes, Harley Quinn bit one dog in the past and then bit the dog in the home, resulting in that dog's death. The first bite was to a dog's neck and resulted in scratches. The second bite occurred when Harley Quinn was left home alone with the small dog that lived in the home. The two dogs were left home alone with food and water. When someone returned to the home, there was food scatted everywhere and the small dog was dead, with minimal amounts of blood on him.
Harley Quinn is described as exuberant with a medium level of activity.

New Hope Only
TM - Treatable-Manageable
No young children (under 5)
Recommend no dog parks
Place with a New Hope partner
No young children: Due to being described as shy around unfamiliar people, we recommend a home without young children. She needs a slow approach and time to warm up. She should never be forced to interact with new people, and should be allowed to greet and initiate an interaction at her own pace. Older, gentle children should have an in-depth interaction prior to adoption.
Single dog home/no dog parks: See DOG-DOG.
Place with a New Hope partner: Due to Harley Quinn having bitten and killed the small dog in the home when they were left home alone together, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide a foster home without other animals and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home.
Bite history (dog)
Potential challenges comments:
Fearful: Harley Quinn is described as shy with new people and takes some time to warm up to them. Please see handout on Decompression Period.
Bite history (dog): Harley Quinn has bitten two other dogs, with one of the bites leaving scratches and the other bite resulting in the death of a small dog. As the dog she bit that resulted in the dog's death was left alone with her, we do not know the exact circumstances of the bite. However, the dog's body was found in the midst of scattered food. Please see handout on Bite History.
