 You mean,
why don't people in positions of power and
Corruption Willingly step down? Good question!
Incoming: "but you could say the same thing about communism!!1! The bourgeoisie don't want to give power to the proletariat!!1!" The difference between the political class and the bourgeoisie is that the political class literally can steal power from the non-political class through the force of government: taxation, imprisonment, etc. The bourgeoisie obtain their "power" through peaceful means, usually because of business success. Also, when the rich gain their power, they don't gain it by taking power away from the poor. They simply add to the overall wealth. The economy is not a fixed pie, where if one person's slice gets bigger another person's automatically gets smaller. When rich people get a bigger slice, it's because they bake another pie. Most Americans today live better lives than the richest and most lavish kings did 300 years ago. Also, many people say "communism only works on paper", and assumes that libertarianism only works on paper too. The problem with this assumption is that it assumes communism works on paper. Communism DOESN'T even work on paper! In a market economy, prices are calculated by supply and demand, and multiple entrepreneurs are needed to provide prices. Prices indicate how much of each good needs to be produced. In a centralized communist economy, where the "collective" or the government tells producers how much of each good to produce, accurate prices cannot be obtained, because there is a lack of decentralization. If there is only one actor (the collective or the government) prices cannot be calculated. That is why in Soviet Russia there was far too much concrete produced and not enough bread. In fact, the only reason the Soviets lasted as long as they did is because they literally BORROWED PRICES from capitalist countries with decentralized economies. Communism DOESN'T EVEN WORK ON PAPER. Capitalism and Libertarianism on the other hand, work on paper AND work in the theoretical, and could work in the empirical. The only reason they haven't occurred yet or worked in the empirical is because when people have a monopoly on the use of force (government) and are able to use it to their own avail, they aren't going to give it up.
