What’s the difference?
I KNOW THIS ONE. THIS IS MY MOMENT.
Educational time, kids: Effect is a noun, Affect is a verb. Apparently there’s some deviation from this, but this is the general rule. You can always think of the phrase “Cause and effect”, seeing as they’re both nouns, or you can use this handy-dandy set of phrases:
“She had a strange and magical Effect on them, as all vampires holding a three-foot-spear do.”
“How was I supposed to know he was affected so strongly by being eaten by a shark??”
