Spike Lee’s ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ Series Renewed For Second Season - blogged by: @ashleytearra ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She’s gotta have it, and so do we. SpikeLee’s Netflix-produced comedic drama, ‘She’s Gotta Have It’, has just been renewed for season two, and we can barely contain our excitement. The announcement was made via Instagram by Spike Lee, himself, and his wife, Tonya Lewis Lee, who also serves as an executive producer of the series. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Based on Lee’s 1986 directorial debut film, coined under the same name, ‘She’s Gotta Have It’, the series, follows a modernized version of twenty-something-year-old Brooklyn-based artist, Nola Darling-portrayed by DeWanda Wise, and her carefree lifestyle as she deals with three romantic relationships with three completely different men. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sexually liberated, socially unconventional, unapologetically black and feminist, Darling’s controversial character is already innovatively breaking social barriers, as it authentically showcases sexuality and self-freedom in a whole new light. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On November 23rd, 2017, the series made its exclusive ten-episode premiere of season one on Netflix, immediately garnering loads of pleasing reviews. According to Deadline, season two will hold a number of eight episodes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As of now, we’re not sure of an exact release date for the new season; however, just know that it is certainly on its way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Until then, see you soon, Nola Darling.
