TO BE KILLED - 1/25/2019
Soft, loose, wiggly and shyly sweet, SWEET POTATO may be timid at first when meeting new friends, but after all she has been through it is to be expected. Found wandering the streets, this teeny, tiny girl (she’s only 38 lbs!) was brought to the Brooklyn Center in the hopes she would find a new home. But now she is sick with the dreaded shelter cold, and we all know what that means. From stray, to incarcerated to being quickly sent to the list to die, unless SWEET POTATO finds a family to foster or adopt her, her young life will end. Beautiful, delicate of feature, and as fragile as a porcelain doll, this girl with her ethereal good looks and gentle personality is seeking a quiet, calm, structured home where she can decompress after her ordeal, then warm to her new family. We promise it won’t take long! She is so adorable and endearing that we know she is going to make some lucky someone a wonderful, loving companion for all her life to come. Don’t let this pint sized pixie die. If you can find some room on the sofa for Sweet Potato, hurry and PM our page or email us at MustLoveDogsNYC@gmail.com for assistance.

Loose in room (15-20 seconds): Wandering room, sniffing, checking in briefly with handlers

Exuberant handling: Did not conduct
Handling comments: Sweet Potato flinched upon direct contact and appeared uncomfortable as she began lip licking and yawning. She did, however, seem to readily warm up (loosening) and tolerate soft handling. Because of the previous stress signals offered combined with Sweet Potato's overall timidity, "Exuberant handling" was skipped.

Tug: No interest
RAISED VOICE: No response
TOY: No interest
PLAYGROUP NOTES – DOG TO DOG SUMMARIES: Sweet Potato was surrender as a stray so her past behavior with other dogs is unknown.
1/16: When off leash at the Care Centers, Sweet potato slowly walks to the greeter with a low head. She exchanges greet with a slightly tense posture and after several seconds, Sweet Potato walks away to explore the yard. Further, into her session, Sweet Potato returns and displays assertive posture. She initially tolerates the greeter's paw slaps but she eventually offers an appropriate correction then walks away.
