These team reports are going to be a little different now with the start of free agency. We’ll see more draft targets now instead of veteran players.
Los Angeles Chargers
Draft position (First round and overall picks):
28th overall/7 total picks
2018 record: 12-4 (2nd AFCW)
Playoffs: Lost in Divisional (41-28 NE)
Top 3 needs:
1. Offensive Line
2. Defensive Line
3 potential targets:
1. Dalton Risner/OT (Draft)
2. Jeffrey Simmons/DT (Draft)
3. Tyree Jackson/QB (Draft)
The Chargers battled neck and neck all season with Kansas City but ultimately fell short of the division title. Forcing them to go on the road to Baltimore, who they beat, and then New England. 2018 was probably Rivers best chance at finally reaching Super Bowl glory but they ultimately fell short. The Chargers are still in a good position and with a few key offseason moves they could be right back up near the top with KC, and maybe even take the division. The Chargers are the perfect place for a project type QB due to Rivers still having some time left in the league but he can also teach a young guy coming in. Tyree Jackson could be that perfect fit to learn. The other AFC West teams are making moves so it’s going to be a tough division. I think the Chargers have what it takes.
