Oh right, because white people are definitely the only ones who ever waged a war and it’s totally not like Native American tribes were warring with each other all the time. Do you guys try to be this completely clueless or does it just come naturally?
There’s a difference between declaring war and bringing war.
What the hell difference would that be? Oh let me guess “One of them we get to blame on white people”.
Fuckin, declaring is asking. Small pocks in blankets is sabotage. Don’t call anyone an idiot. Face the facts of history jfc get out of your own ass.
You’re an idiot if you think anyone “asks” for war. And a huge percentage of the native population had already died of disease long before the Europeans came over, so it sounds like you’re the one needs to brush up on your history dear :)
also they’re ignoring the fact that the natives also had horrible wars, and imperialist powers (aztecs and incans come to mind)
Also don’t tell them lots of Native tribes willingly helped Cortez overthrow the Aztecs because they were kind of dicks.
Fuck you proudblackconservative where exactly are you getting the idea that most of the indigenous people died before the Europeans showed up???
Have you read about the trail of tears? Blankets with small pox? Tuberculosis in the northern communities? Because these all happened after contact and lowered the populations of indigenous peoples.
Or how about forced sterilization of indigenous women, residential schools, forced assimilation, the 60s scoop, the Indian Act?
You know I’m here for giving credit where credit is due and this one goes right to the white people. Deal with it, because we still deal with the effects of the above (which doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface).
So please try to quell your natural urge to be this completely clueless (to use your words :)) and read a fucking book before you try to assert your (incorrect) opinion about a group of people you don’t belong to.
Ok, I’m going to give you something you’re probably unaccustomed to. Reality:
“There is scholarly dissent to the theory that the outbreaks of smallpox may have been by the intentional spreading of disease, for example the allegations of smallpox-infested blankets being intentionally given to Native Americans in 1763 at the Siege of Fort Pitt. The outbreaks that occurred specifically in this region may have resulted from sporadic cases already occurring amongst Indians rather than from this scenario. Historians also say that though blankets containing smallpox may have been distributed to Native Americans by the Europeans, they may have been given with good will and intentions, instead of for the purpose of disseminating disease. Additionally, scholars such as Gregory Dowd, are of the opinion that disease was spread by Native Americans returning from battling infected Europeans. Therefore it may have been carried by Native Americans to their own people and spread. Europeans lack of understanding of basic germ theory until proven by Pasteur in 1865, can preclude a thoughtful and systematic use of infected blankets as a weapon.”
You’re focusing on 1 of the 7 facts I brought up about the decrease of indigenous population. What about the other 6? got anything to say against those? Or how about that you aren’t even fighting my original point that this was caused by white people. Backed into a corner and clinging to whatever you can.
Actually no, I’m not. Did you even read the links? Smallpox was traced back to an infected African on Spanish ship. I didn’t focus on the other six because A. It can be assumed that you’re just as ignorant about those things as you were about first B. They were never part of the original discussion You’re the one who said something, got proven wrong, and now you want to put on a brave face and act like you’re on top. Keep dreaming.
