President Trump chose Judge Brett Kavanaugh to join the Supreme Court and replace Justice Anthony Kennedy, who announced his resignation last month. Kavanaugh served in both Bush administrations, believes in a strict interpretation of the Constitution, and worked on the investigation that led to the impeachment of President Bill Clinton. However, he has suggested that presidents should not face lawsuits until out of office. If Trump’s nominee is confirmed by the U.S. Senate, five out of nine justices will be conservative. ___ "What matters is not a judge's political views, but whether they can set aside those views to do what the law and the Constitution require. I am pleased to say I have found without doubt such a person," Trump said Monday evening.
