Brock Turner was denied a retrial after being convicted of sexual assault and attempted rape of an intoxicated and unconscious woman at a fraternity party in Stanford University. Turner was sentenced to six months in jail but was released after serving three months. Judge Franklin Elia stated that there was “substantial evidence” to support Turner’s 2016 conviction. ___ “The appellate court has now rejected that idea and I think everyone, including Brock Turner, would be better served by accepting the jury’s verdict and moving on,” said Michele Dauber, a Stanford law professor.
