I’m sorry — White teacher: —you know what, I’m sorry -I’m sorry… Black student: —No, no, no…I let you talk -I let you talk, you’re gonna let me talk. [Other students gasps] White student: Go ahead. Finish. Black student: I’m sorry that this is the way that it is. You’re right, it is fucked up. But white people control everything…and that’s not fair. And when anybody, any other minority tries to say anything about it or change it, we’re complaining or we’re ungrateful or all this other stuff because we still have this or that. But then you say something about ‘Oh, I don’t want—there’s too many Latinos and there’s too many—’ White teacher: I didn’t say that— [Various students disagree] White teacher: I said I want to control the border! Black student: You said you don’t want this to turn into a Latin country because there’ll be too many  White teacher: I did not say that. [Various students disagree] Student 2: You said you want to preserve the American culture. Black student: There is no American culture. American culture is EVERYTHING. [Various students agree] Random: Mayonnaise! [Students laugh] Black student: And because you are white and so closed-minded, you refuse to accept that, you refuse to accept— White teacher: Don’t tell me I’m closed-minded— Black student: Everything you’ve said to me is closed-minded. White teacher: Just because I don’t agree with you doesn’t mean I’m closed-minded. Black student: You don’t need to agree—I -I’ve had conversations with people that don’t agree with me, but if they at least listen and try to accept—you’re not accepting the truth. White teacher: Why do I have to accept what you think is right? Black student: You need to accept the truth! Not what I think is right, what is actually happening right— White teacher: Well, let me tell you what I think. You said white people have been in control of everything….who is the president of the United States right now?! Students: A black man! *Various sounds of incredulity* Black student: WITH A WHITE CONGRESS! WITH A WHITE SENATE! WITH WHITE EVERYTHING ELSE! HE DOESN’T HAVE THE CONTROL OF EVERYTHING! Random: GO OFF  Other Random: GO OFF– *The class is in an uproar* Random student: YOU ARE SO PRIVILEGED THAT YOU JUST DON’T SEE IT! White teacher: Do we have to yell?! Black student: Yes, because I’m mad. Reblogging for the captioning. Thanks! YES, BECAUSE I’M MAD. This gives me hope. I’m 22. I’m not that old, but I’m assuming I’m older than these students in the video. To see this young intelligent woman school her teacher on white privilege and the affects of white supremacy gives me hope. They are young and using their voice! Do I Have To: FightinCowboy RewTIN Cefoy @Fightincowboy So lately there's been a lot of fuss over gaming "forcing diversity" and people getting upset that a character is gay, trans, etc. and I want to take a moment and try to explain this to folks that are having trouble understanding the issue, as a straight white dude myself. 3:13 AM 10 Feb 19 from Nashville, TN Twitter for Android 48 Retweets 243 Likes FightinCowboy @Fightincowboy 11h As a straight white dude my whole life has been filled with cool white dudes in gaming and comics. Iron Man, He-Man, Spiderman, Cloud, you get the idea. There's literally a million different choices you could pick from and think "oh I want to be like them, I can ANTIN Cooy relate to them". ti 3 92 FightinCowboy @Fightincowboy 11h And now we're seeing more women, more people of color, more people of varying sexual orientations, and dudes are asking "Why does my character have to be gay?", "I like this character but why do I have to play as a black girl? ANTIN CofoBoy 9 1 ti 3 91 FightinCowboy @Fightincowboy 11h And to be honest, y'all been playing as the "straight white dude for so long you're treating that as the default setting in life. But that's not true. The world isn't made of RNTIN CopOBoY nothing but straight white dudes. There's billions of different people out there. 1 ti 6 112 FightinCowboy @Fightincowboy 11h And you'll say well why does my character have to be gay, it doesn't matter to the gameplay" and you're right, it doesn't, so why the fuck do you care? Playing as a gay character doesn't mean cocks start para- dropping into your room to assault you ANTIN cofeo 3 ti 12 129 FightinCowboy @Fightincowboy 11h But to that 13 yr old kid that's gay and still in the closet, he suddenly has a role model. He has someone he can relate to the same way you looked up to Tony Stark or Mario or whoever. That little black girl who was too shy of gaming has a character she sees herself in AANTIN Cojso 9 1 t 10 150 FightinCowboy @Fightincowboy 11h The point is while it might not impact the gameplay AT ALL, it's not hurting you and it's potentially helping someone else. And if you still disagree with that, then the real problem is just that you're an asshole. AeNTIN Cofeso 21 ti 13 242

Slate Dear Prudie: Do I have to give them candy? aT T-T Help! Kids From Poorer Neighborhoods Keep Trick- or-Treating in Mine. Slate.com Dear Prudence, I live in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the country, but on one of the more "modest" streets-mostly doctors and lawyers and family business owners. (A few blocks away are billionaires, families with famous last names, media moguls, etc.) I have noticed that on Halloween, what seems like 75 percent of the trick-or-treaters are clearly not from this neighborhood. Kids arrive in overflowing cars from less fortunate areas. I feel this is inappropriate. Halloween isn't a social service or a charity in which l have to buy candy for less fortunate children Obviously this makes me feel like a terrible person, because what's the big deal about making less fortunate kids happy on a holiday? But it just bugs me, because we already pay more than enough taxes toward actual social services. Should Halloween be a neighborhood activity, or is it legitimately a free-for-all in which people hunt down the best candy grounds for their kids? 91.6K 705 Slate Slate.com's Post See More thebiscuiteternal: lay-some-hate: wahbegan: teaboot: ryulongd: rune-midgarts: goodtimegang: brakehagev2: guys this is actually real like a real person wrote this “more than enough” oh you fucking saints, absolutely pouring wealth onto the unfortunates lol this is amazing Dear Prudie, I think I just witnessed a murder You fucking monster GET HER PRUDENCE No wonder why her name is PRUDENCE Time for the annual reblog!
