Obama, Shit, and Tumblr: SHHH! YOU FUCKED UP.. THISIS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU'RE NOT OUALIFIED left-reminders: phoenix-ace: left-reminders: They stay scapegoating Obama for shit he didnt create and infantalize trump in order to make Obama look like he forced Trump to be awful. As if the man wasnt a segregationist whos been xenophobic for decades. Edit: not OP the “they” doesnt refer to them. Leftists aren’t “scapegoating” Obama or sympathizing with Trump. We’re just being honest about the regressive policies of Obama and the Democrat establishment. Trump is demonstrably awful, a garbage excuse for a human being, but can we please not excuse the imperialism and mass surveillance and rich-catering of Democrats just because they trumpet progressive values? Part of overcoming Trump is recognizing and organizing against the conditions that gave rise to him: 40 years of trickle-down economics, drug wars, international interventions for the profits of big oil, and active union-busting, to name a piece of the puzzle. Vote for Democrats as damage control if you want, but just know that they’re ultimately not on your side. They serve the rich first and foremost. Y’all democrats have to realize that bush set up ICE, wiretapping of the American people, ruined our education system, stripped us of countless civil liberties, sent us to Two wars, pushed the patriot act. and Obama continued all this and even extended the bush tax cuts and expanded warfare. Now trump has all these tools at his disposal as democrats rehabilitate bush and pretend Obama wasn’t complicit in any of this 🙄

Fbi, Memes, and Obama: Why is Peter Strzok so smug? He's in the SES. I would guess that 95% of Americans have never heard of the Senior Executive Service, but the SES has more REAL power than Congress. The SES was created in 1979 to form kind of an aristocracy among the federal bureaucracy All are political appointees. They resemble "civilian generals" but unlike generals they don't rotate out to new duty stations. Congress can haul FBI SESer Peter Strzok in and berate him, but they can't do a damn thing to him. Contempt of Congress? An SESer could not care any less. The approximately 10,000 SESers protect one another above all else. It's not about Democrats vs. Republicans, it's now more about the SES vs. the rest of the govemment Folks need to get up to speed on the REAL power structure in Washington There is a civil war going on, and 95% of it is happening below the surface. Trump and the Congress have barely made a dent in the power of the SES Imagine the old USSR, with KGB-aligned senior apparatchiks answerable directly to the Politburo and nobody else in charge of every federal agency and department. That is the SES, In our case today, the unexpected occurred and Trump was elected as POTUS, but the SES is still loyal to the Obama and The Washington D. C. Deep State is a group of 8,156 appointed managers in 75 federal agencies that control the executive bureaucracy and tell new political appointees what they can and cannot do. Yes, that’s right, the Deep State is an official government program, well-organized, comprehensive, and “in charge.” OUT OF THE 8,156 MEMBERS WHO MAKE UP THIS DEEP STATE OF ENSCONCED BUREAUCRATS, OVER 7,000 WERE APPOINTED BY OBAMA. These the are the “Obama Holdouts” that still control the executive branch of government a full year after Trump has come to office. Obama expanded the existing Flag_of_the_United_States_Senior_Executive_Service.svgprogram of Deep State managers and appointed over 7,000 of the 8,156 bosses who are called the Senior Executive Service. Some call it the “Shadow Government”, and it is true that this federal cabal works in the shadows. Have you ever heard of such a group? Some call it Obama’s Army. Let’s review what we know about the power of “political appointees” who hold important leadership and policymaking positions. There are four basic types of appointments: Presidential Appointments with Senate Confirmation: There are 1,212 senior leaders, including the Cabinet secretaries and their deputies, the heads of most independent agencies and ambassadors, who must be confirmed by the Senate. Presidential Appointments without Senate Confirmation: There are 353 positions which make up much of the White House staff, although they are also scattered throughout many of the smaller federal agencies. Non-career Senior Executive Service: Members of the Senior Executive Service (SES) work in key positions just below the top presidential appointees, bridging the gap between the political leaders and the civil service throughout the federal government. Schedule C Appointments: There are 1,403 Schedule C appointees who serve in a confidential or policy role. They range from schedulers and confidential assistants to policy experts. . The Senior Executive Service (SES) in 2016 had 8,156 members who were appointees. Obama appointed over 7,000 of them to these key positions. Most of these appointees do not arise from inside the respective agencies through

80s, America, and Children: Ronald Reagan / Died June 5, 2004, Bel-Air, Los Angeles, CA sauvamente: lkeke35: sugarbrownbabydoll: marginalised: cflat-major: louisthesixteenth: its a national holiday Celebrating someone’s death seems like a really macabre thing to do. Like I get that people don’t like him because of how his administration dealt with the AIDS epidemic, but promoting someone’s death as a good thing doesn’t sit well with me. during his administration, we had a problem with abuse of patients in mental healthcare facilities (asylums, but don’t call them that), and his response to it was just to shut down the entire system. he closed all public mental healthcare facilities because a few of them were mistreating patients, and all those mentally ill people suddenly found themselves homeless without the skills necessary to survive in the general populous. he’s the reason why our healthcare system is so terrible, and he’s to blame for the homelessness epidemic (i’ll get into the next reason why he’s responsible for our high homeless population in a sec). millions of people lost everything because of reagan. thousands died. he also completely restructured our economy. from 1776 until he became president, we had an economic system like no other (look up the American School), but he removed most of the rules and regulations we had to keep the system in place because our system at the time limited accumulation of wealth. we had a built-in buffer that kept most people middle class. when he restructured our economy so he and his friends could get richer, reagan removed the safeguards that kept us out of poverty (most of the time), so now the lower echelons of society were in freefall towards homelessness. people lost their homes and businesses because the rich could do basically whatever they wanted now. superstores like wal-mart rose to prominence and pushed out small businesses because of this. our government also greatly reduced its expenditure on infrastructure. ronald reagan’s greed is why we don’t have enough trains and all our roads are falling apart. he also expanded our already bloated military while in power. one of his slogans was “peace in strength.” his goal for our country was to get an iron grip around the rest of the world and impose our own agendas on other countries at gunpoint. One of the first things reagan did when he came to power was to ignore the supreme court’s earlier ruling, ignore the constitution, and try to enforce a mandatory daily christian prayer time in all schools. when government workers went on strike against him and his policies, he fired 11,345 people. he put 11,345 people out of a job because they didn’t like him. he lowered taxes for the rich, but increased taxes on the poor, contributing to the aforementioned lack of infrastructure and homelessness crisis. he also began privatising the government, which put thousands of jobs at risk and made wealthy capitalists the men who run our country. reagan is responsible for trickle down economics. after the great depression, our government put in social programs to help people stay afloat, like universal healthcare for the elderly and disabled, basic income (the government paid people to dig ditches if they couldn’t find any other jobs. the ditches didn’t serve any purpose, but those people needed money and the government was willing to give money to anyone who worked), and food stamps. ronald reagan slashed all these programs and more, like the EPA, which made sure we were a “green” country. as a result of these slashes, people who had been secure on government assistance programs were now having to take out loans and get into debt, which jeopardised our economy. we had a stock market crash because people were becoming too poor to buy stocks, and our national debt increased by 3 times. we went from $997 billion in debt to $2.85 trillion in 1987. he also pushed us further into the cold war. previously, our relations with russia were cooling down a bit, but during reagan’s second term, he began actively threatening russia again. ronald reagan brought us to the brink of a nuclear war that would have killed all humans on earth. Ronald Reagan and Maggie Thatcher, the most hated prime minister in UK history, were close friends. he was also personal friends with Donald Trump. Under reagan, we resumed a history of violent military imperialism in foreign countries, most notably lebanon, afghanistan, and pakistan. In lebanon, we tried to stop a revolution against an oppressive regime, and in afghanistan and pakistan, reagan ordered the CIA to train civilians and create a military force to fight russia for us. Reagan created the taliban, a militant group that even today publicly dismembers people for playing games in public. they cut off children’s hands. He also began dealing weapons with China, betraying our longstanding ally, Taiwan, destabilising politics in the pacific. Under his orders, we secretly aided african and south american military dictatorships in crushing their opposition. He assisted Ayatollah Khomeini, the leader of Iran who started the 1979 revolution, in purging political opposition from the government. in 1988 our military shot down an iranian commercial flight, killing 290 civilians. Reagan was a Nazi sympathiser and referred to slain SS officers as “victims” of the war. just to make sure you read that right: Ronald Reagan supported the Nazis. He declared the war on drugs, a movement that has greatly increased the disproportionate incarceration rates of african american and latino men in this country. During Reagan’s second term, 115,000 people were diagnosed with AIDS and 70,000 died of it. Reagan did nothing to curb the spread, despite knowing that the AIDS epidemic almost exclusively affected black people and the LGBT community. when he learned how many people were dying and who they were, he laughed. he laughed at our suffering while we were dropping dead. In short, Ronald Reagan was a wealthy, selfish, greedy, capitalistic, imperialist, racist, ableist, homophobic, genocidal, antisemitic, warmongering, backstabbing murderer. Ronald Reagan was a monster. Wow and this didn’t even cover the crack epidemic It doesn’t cover the crack epidemic, or the various wars in South America, that resulted in the refugees immigrant crisis now. There’s a book called as the band played on about the AIDS crisis in the 80s and early 90s and how the conservative movement and Reagan basically steamrolled over AIDS activists. They basically denied that aids even existed for years before they even acknowledged it. the only reason they acknowledged it was because it started to affect heterosexual people and children. before that it was just a dreaded gay disease. Ronald Reagan was the devil and we are lucky that he is dead, but we are still suffering from his policies, rampant conservatism and his being anti anyone that wasn’t a straight white male.

Apparently, Arguing, and Complex: STEPHEN HAWKINGS LAST WORDS WELIVEINTHEMATRI If you asked an astrophysicist today to describe what happened after the Big Bang, he would likely start with the concept of “cosmic inflation.” Cosmic inflation argues that right after the Big Bang — we’re talking after a teeny fraction of a second — the universe expanded at breakneck speed like dough in an oven. But this exponential expansion should create, due to quantum mechanics, regions where the universe continues to grow forever and regions where that growth stalls. The result would be a multiverse, a collection of bubblelike pockets, each defined by its own laws of physics. “The local laws of physics and chemistry can differ from one pocket universe to another, which together would form a multiverse,” Hertog said in a statement. “But I have never been a fan of the multiverse. If the scale of different universes in the multiverse is large or infinite the theory can’t be tested.” Along with being difficult to support, the multiverse theory, which was co-developed by Hawking in 1983, doesn’t jibe with classical physics, namely the contributions of Einstein’s theory of general relativity as they relate to the structure and dynamics of the universe. “As a consequence, Einstein’s theory breaks down in eternal inflation,” Hertog said. Einstein spent his life searching for a unified theory, a way to reconcile the biggest and smallest of things, general relativity and quantum mechanics. He died never having achieved that goal, but leagues of physicists like Hawking followed in Einstein’s footsteps. One path led to holograms. Instead of the 'standard' description of how the 'universe' unfolded (and is unfolding), the authors argue the Big Bang had a finite boundary, defined by string theory and holograms. The new theory - which sounds simplistically like the world of the red-pill-blue-pill Matrix movies - embraces the strange concept that the universe is like a vast and complex hologram. In other words, 3D reality is an illusion, and that the apparently "solid" world around us - and the dimension of time - is projected from information stored on a flat 2D surface.

If you asked an astrophysicist today to describe what happened after the Big Bang, he would likely start with the concept of “cosmic inflati...

Butt, Club, and Girls: RuPaul Would'Probably Not Let a Transitioning Queen on Drag Race Strai Ta wi Photography: Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP <p><a href="https://ithelpstodream.tumblr.com/post/171523211800/in-a-new-interview-with-the-guardian-rupaul-stood" class="tumblr_blog">ithelpstodream</a>:</p> <blockquote><p>In a new interview with the Guardian, RuPaul stood firm on his stance that trans women and bio-queens are unwelcome on Drag Race. After explaining that drag’s political power lies in the dissonance of “men dressing up as women,” Ru was asked if he’d allow a “biological woman” to compete on the show.</p> <p>“Drag loses its sense of danger and its sense of irony once it’s not men doing it, because at its core it’s a social statement and a big f-you to male-dominated culture,“ RuPaul tells Guardian. &ldquo; So for men to do it, it’s really punk rock, because it’s a real rejection of masculinity.” When asked if trans women can be drag queens, he brings up season nine contestant Peppermint, who was the first out trans woman to compete on the show. “Mmmm. It’s an interesting area. Peppermint didn’t get breast implants until after she left our show; she was identifying as a woman, but she hadn’t really transitioned.”</p> <p>The interviewer goes on to ask if RuPaul would allow a trans woman who was actively transitioning to compete. “Probably not. You can identify as a woman and say you’re transitioning, but it changes once you start changing your body. It takes on a different thing; it changes the whole concept of what we’re doing. We’ve had some girls who’ve had some injections in the face and maybe a little bit in the butt here and there, but they haven’t transitioned.”</p> <p>These statements go to show how antiquated RuPaul’s conceptions of trans identity and the queering of gender really are. For someone who is deservedly lauded as an icon of genderfuckery, the fact that RuPaul still sees drag as a boys’ club is disappointing, not to mention the fact that he reduces trans identity to whether or not a person has had surgery. The notion that the only true power to be found in an art form that has expanded so much since RuPaul came up seems insulting in the face of the incredible female artists — both cisgender and trans — who are doing drag today, largely thanks to the influence of Drag Race.</p> <p><a href="https://www.out.com/popnography/2018/3/03/rupaul-would-probably-not-let-transitioning-queen-drag-race">https://www.out.com/popnography/2018/3/03/rupaul-would-probably-not-let-transitioning-queen-drag-race</a></p></blockquote> <p>Wait&hellip; if he won’t let cis women be on the show, then isn’t he just being consistent here by viewing trans women as real women?</p>

North American Education system. this is basically any public school in the world tbh bet the football teams have new equiptment though Whoop there it is No I’m not even kidding I bet my life that there is equipment and a well managed field for the football team. Probably a good baseball and basketball team for guys. Other sports not so much. This is NOT any public schooling system in the world! Australian public schools do not have this problem! How the fuck does a school not afford basic bathroom amenities?! If that happened here there would be an immediate school funding revision campaign! I assume you guys are joking about the football teams because there’s no way overblown American sports movies are real. Does your government just… not fund schools?  A running joke in my high school is “…but we can’t afford paper!” because a few years ago, my entire school system had us recycling each and every scrap and refusing to pay to get teachers copier paper. We were all asked to bring in our own paper, because school just wasn’t going to provide paper anything. Ironically, same year the football field was renovated. That… That can’t possibly be right.  My high school had chunks of the ceiling falling down periodically, because of water and mold damage. I remember being in the gym for basketball practice and a huge grate fell down and scared the crap out of us. No one was ever hurt, and the state health department declared the levels of mold to be “not immediately dangerous” and so it was left alone. They once had to close down an entire section of hallway and stairs because one year, the toilets flooded on the second floor and soaked into the ceiling and walls. The next year, a chunk of ceiling fell out right below that, and the toxic variety of black mold was found. Again, the levels were “not dangerous” so they blocked off the area for a few weeks (making it impossible to get to class on time) until it was “cleaned up”. There were no windows, because when the school was built it was right next to an international airport (that has since moved) and the noise was too much at the time. So in order to keep the air flowing, they pumped air conditioning year round, including winter. And yes- the football field was in fact completely renovated before the buildings were even touched. 5 years prior to the original start date of high school building renovations. Also, while the football field was built with out a single hiccup, the school renovation was actually stopped after it started and halted for 4 years because the town didn’t want to spend the money on it. People argued that taxes shouldn’t be raised for that since they felt the buildings were fine as they were. Welcome to American public schools.  WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOUR SCHOOL SYSTEM?? FOOTBALL OVERT RELIGIOUS LOBBYING SCHOOL SHOOTINGS CRUMBLING BUILDINGS AND NO SOAP DO YOU LIVE IN A SEMI-DYSTOPIAN NOVEL A few years ago the music program lost funding for all things musical and we have to raise all our money ourself. And in addition to that, in the music hall the ceiling started to fall in and flood the band lockers and there are still whole tiles not in the ceiling from the water. But you know what the football team got all new uniforms. American schools have always sucked ass. Now you all know why. I remember one year we were all walking around for a week or so with all the hallway lights turned off so we could save money. School lunch was a joke. There weren’t enough text books for everyone. I got a D in calculus because I had no book. The theatre department had to have car washes on Sundays to raise money. But of course football was the only concern. I remember the yearbook had like the first 20 pages dedicated to sports and then the rest of us had one page, if that. My senior year, our theatre page had to share with the foreign exchange students. You know in Glee when all the glee kids have to raise money for everything and Sue spends a shit ton of money on the cheerleaders? Not even an exaggeration. Our theater program funding was cut to send our football team to St. Louis. They didn’t win anything but they tried really hard so they deserved a team trip. If this shit happened in England there would uproar I went to a private school where I was the French Club President, and our advisor was privately informed that all of the money we had been raising all year long would be absorbed into the Athletic Fund if there was anything left at the end of the school year. In response to this injustice, we decided to make an annual event a month before school ended where we would all go the Refectory (aka a fancy French restaurant in the city) and spend every single cent of our hard earned treasury. Like, this was just ONE instance that affected me personally. Things like this happen all the time in the United States. All throughout my experience with public schools in America (all 14 years of it), I always remembered that when we had to buy our own school supplies, and we were always told to buy classroom supplies like kleenexs, soap, hand sanitizers, and more. Because once the classroom ran out of this stuff we had nothing. And once I got into high school no one ever brought this stuff for the classrooms so I always found mucus rubbed on the walls in some classrooms and bathrooms and it’s was absolutely disgusting. And guess where all our money from the state went to? The high school football team. Within the past year or so our taxes went up because my old high school expanded the football field’s bleachers/seating. Also, despite all of our signatures in our town for a petition to prevent a ‘student activity center’ being built next to the school where it would be for the most important student athletes, the school got their way. And guess who doesn’t have enough money to support their programs? The fine arts programs. I had friends who were in choir, band, etc. that had to find ways to raise money for their programs since the school never cared to fund them. It’s either that, or the teachers pull money off of their paycheck to provide supplies for their students (and public school teachers don’t have good salaries anyways in the US), whereas the school uses all their state funds for the football team. It’s ridiculous, and I’m glad I’m no longer in high school having to deal with a school who worships their football team, while all the other programs suffer to remain in the school. I haven’t been in highschool in 7 years but my brother is currently in highschool. Apparently the school is in much worse condition than when I left, with some classes having lessons outside because the a/c was busted and the school refused to fix it. Programs related to art are royally screwed and have to raise their own money or find their own supplies. We had to go DUMPSTER DIVING for art supplies. In Pom (dance team) we had to raise our own money for a Disney trip despite Disney having invited us to perform after we had won multiple state championships. Same happened to the cheer team the following year after I graduated. Performing arts often has to make their own sets from whatever scrap gets donated or gets found by teachers/students. We had to raise all kinds of money and were forced to reduce prices of tickets for performances because “people shouldn’t have to pay that much for a show” by the school (our shows were $10). Band is still in the same shitty facility as it was when I was there with shitty acoustics and shittier uniforms. But you can bet your ass the football team got all kinds of goodies. Like new equipment, new uniforms, new gym equipment and A FUCKING INDOOR FOOTBALL FIELD! Our team sucked when I was in highschool and they still suck now. The school is letting teachers go due to budget cuts but they’re STILL hiring a new coach just because the last one (who had only been there a year) didn’t win a championship (which football hasn’t won a championship in almost 30 years). Coaches get paid more than regular teachers even if they don’t teach a subject aside from football. They also often bully other teachers into boosting a students’ grade just so they won’t be ineligible to play an upcoming game. This is why I hate highschool football. In America it’s seen as a religion. Football takes priority before EVERYTHING even though hardly any students have a career in football after highschool or college. Even though most scholarships are based on academics and OTHER extra curricular activities. But fuck that, the football team gets all the money. Fuck football. Infographic: Is Your State’s Highest-Paid Employee A Coach? (Probably) There is a reason people who didn’t play sports in school hated people who did with a fucking passion Our band won 1st all season and it was hardly mentioned meanwhile football getting 4th was top priority on the announcements. The total firearms murder rate that year was 0.3/100,000. From 1980-1995, Australian firearms deaths dropped from 4.9/100,000-2.6/100,000 without the implementation of firearms laws. This is a rate of decline that has remained fairly constant; Looking at 1996-2014, in which the rate has dropped from 2.6-0.86, it shows that the decline has been slower in a longer period of time since the law’s passing. Likewise, homicides declined more quickly in the 15 years prior to the firearms laws (0.8-0.3) than in the 18 years since it (0.3-0.1). This just indicates that firearms deaths haven’t been noticeably affected by the legislation you’ve claimed has done so much to decrease gun crime. <br/></p> <p>It should also be noted that around the same time, New Zealand experienced a similar mass shooting, but did not change their existing firearms laws, which remain fairly lax; even moreso than some American states like California, New York, or Connecticut. Despite this, their firearms crime rate has declined fairly steadily as well, and they haven’t experienced a mass shooting since.</p> <p>The <i>“australia banned guns and now they’re fine”</i> argument is really old and really poorly put together. Gun control is little more than a pink band-aid on the sucking chest wound that is America’s social and economic problems. It’s a ‘quick fix’ issue used by politicians to skirt around solving the roots of the violence problem in the United States, which are primarily poverty, lack of opportunities, and lack of education.</p> <p>You could ban guns tomorrow nationwide and gun violence and overall violent crime would not be reduced at all.</p> <p><i>[this segment brought to you by <a href="http://tmblr.co/m9F_132GzodNt-UaipnK67g">cerebralzero</a>]</i></p> <p>In 2005 the head of the New South Wales Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research, Don Weatherburn,<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_Australia#cite_note-37">[37]</a> noted that the level of legal gun ownership in NSW increased in recent years, and that the 1996 legislation had had little to no effect on violence</p> <p>In 2006, the lack of a measurable effect from the 1996 firearms legislation was reported in the British Journal of Criminology. Using ARIMA analysis, Dr Jeanine Baker and Dr Samara McPhedran found no evidence for an impact of the laws on homicide.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_Australia#cite_note-40">[40]</a></p> <p>A study coauthored by Simon Chapman <b>found declines in firearm‐related deaths before the law reforms</b> accelerated after the reforms for total firearm deaths (p=0.04), firearm suicides (p=0.007) and firearm homicides (p=0.15), but not for the smallest category of unintentional firearm deaths, which increased.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_Australia#cite_note-43">[43]</a></p> <p>Subsequently, a study by McPhedran and Baker compared the incidence of mass shootings in <b>Australia and New Zealand</b>. Data were standardised to a rate per 100,000 people, to control for differences in population size between the countries and mass shootings before and after 1996/1997 were compared between countries. <b>That study found that in the period 1980–1996, both countries experienced mass shootings. The rate did not differ significantly between countries. Since 1996-1997, neither country has experienced a mass shooting event despite the continued availability of semi-automatic longarms in New Zealand</b>. The authors conclude that “the hypothesis that Australia’s prohibition of certain types of firearms explains the absence of mass shootings in that country since 1996 does not appear to be supported… if civilian access to certain types of firearms explained the occurrence of mass shootings in Australia (and conversely, if prohibiting such firearms explains the absence of mass shootings), then New Zealand (a country that still allows the ownership of such firearms) would have continued to experience mass shooting events.”<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_Australia#cite_note-44">[44]</a></p> <figure data-orig-width="500" data-orig-height="261" class="tmblr-full"><img data-orig-width="500" data-orig-height="261" src="https://78.media.tumblr.com/cdc45e76a09651676eab1f058341110c/tumblr_inline_nynm84pBjF1sh8jq3_500.gif"/></figure><p>We see the same trend in The UK.</p> <figure data-orig-width="500" data-orig-height="373" class="tmblr-full"><img data-orig-width="500" data-orig-height="373" src="https://78.media.tumblr.com/bf599e784e9963b91a4e4f245fed90f5/tumblr_inline_nynm9wKrKT1sh8jq3_540.png"/></figure><figure data-orig-width="458" data-orig-height="366" class="tmblr-full"><img data-orig-width="458" data-orig-height="366" src="https://78.media.tumblr.com/279f61b9c596b97badd4bc465cc46b60/tumblr_inline_nynm9zWkxr1sh8jq3_540.png"/></figure><p>And Ireland and Jamaica…</p> <figure data-orig-width="453" data-orig-height="714" class="tmblr-full"><img data-orig-width="453" data-orig-height="714" src="https://78.media.tumblr.com/4914c912d5690b40a382b90cf18c646f/tumblr_inline_nynmakqIup1sh8jq3_540.jpg"/></figure><p>And on and on and on…  Gun control simply does not create a safer society and often times actually has the opposite effect.</p> <p>At this point I should also probably point out that Australia’s gun laws have not even reduced gun ownership in Australia.  <a href="http://louderwithcrowder.com/australian-gun-ownership-rises-gun-crime-remains-low-america-still-at-fault/">In fact, gun ownership in Australia is actually higher now than in 1996.</a></p> <p>All of these inconvenient facts aside, we haven’t even touched on the cost of implementing Australian style gun control in America.</p> <p>I keep hearing people say that the US should adopt Australia’s gun control policy and I don’t think they have really thought about the big picture of that plan.</p> <p>Australia had far less guns per person and people in their country did not live in a society that was brought up respecting The 2nd Amendment.  The culture of Australia is very different than that of the culture of America when it comes to gun ownership and self defense.</p> <p>Because of this, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_buyback_program#Australia">the Australian government was able to buy back 631,000 guns at the estimated price of about <b>$500,000,000.</b></a>  You read that correctly, <b>500 MILLION</b>.</p> <p><a href="http://cerebralzero.tumblr.com/tagged/australia">And even after all of that, it still did nothing to prevent violent crime and criminals in Australia still have access to illegal guns, </a>despite being an island country that isn’t bordered by other countries with high violent crime rates and rampant with illegal drug cartels.<br/></p> <p>There are over 360,000,000 legally owned firearms in America.  If we go by Australia’s numbers (<b>$792.39 per gun</b>), these guns would cost our government <b>$285,261,489,698.89</b> to buy back.  Almost <b>300 BILLION dollars</b>, assuming that every gun owner voluntarily turns in their guns…  Which is a very slim to nothing chance.</p> <p>Who’s going to pay for that?  Anti-gunners?  I think not.</p> <p>So, in closing, you want America to put in place gun legislation that will cost the country hundreds of billions of dollars <b>AND </b>has already been proven time and time again to be completely ineffective at protecting innocent lives or creating a safer society?</p> <p>Seems pretty silly.</p> <h2>Get dunked on, nerd.</h2> <figure data-orig-width="250" data-orig-height="188"><img data-orig-width="250" data-orig-height="188" src="https://78.media.tumblr.com/36a75ffd7a3ce392092201d3769d443e/tumblr_inline_nynmeusS661sh8jq3_500.gif"/></figure></blockquote> <p><figure class="tmblr-full" data-orig-height="281" data-orig-width="500" data-tumblr-attribution="eonline:S4A57ljapSvQXLPM7Jsomg:ZCTZKx1sDpydf"><img src="https://78.media.tumblr.com/5b521c18948099c6594a510905c6dfe9/tumblr_nt8sq3NZGm1qlgbzbo1_500.gif" data-orig-height="281" data-orig-width="500"/></figure></p> </blockquote> <p>Teehee, Mac ‘n’ cheese</p> </blockquote> <p>Would make it clear that a gv’t buyback has never been on the table. Probably a good baseball and basketball team for guys. Other sports not so much.</p> </blockquote> <p>This is NOT any public schooling system in the world! </p> </blockquote> <p>A running joke in my high school is “…but we can’t afford paper!” because a few years ago, my entire school system had us recycling each and every scrap and refusing to pay to get teachers copier paper. We were all asked to bring in our own paper, because school just wasn’t going to provide paper anything. Ironically, same year the football field was renovated.</p> </blockquote> <p>That…</p> <p>That can’t possibly be right. </p> </blockquote> <p>My high school had chunks of the ceiling falling down periodically, because of water and mold damage. I remember being in the gym for basketball practice and a huge grate fell down and scared the crap out of us. No one was ever hurt, and the state health department declared the levels of mold to be “not immediately dangerous” and so it was left alone. <br/><br/>They once had to close down an entire section of hallway and stairs because one year, the toilets flooded on the second floor and soaked into the ceiling and walls. <br/><br/>And yes- the football field was in fact completely renovated before the buildings were even touched. </p> </blockquote> <p>WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOUR SCHOOL SYSTEM??</p> <p>FOOTBALL</p> <p>OVERT RELIGIOUS LOBBYING</p> <p>SCHOOL SHOOTINGS</p> <p>CRUMBLING BUILDINGS AND NO SOAP</p> <p>DO YOU LIVE IN A SEMI-DYSTOPIAN NOVEL</p> </blockquote> <p>A few years ago the music program lost funding for all things musical and we have to raise all our money ourself. And in addition to that, in the music hall the ceiling started to fall in and flood the band lockers and there are still whole tiles not in the ceiling from the water. But you know what the football team got all new uniforms.</p> </blockquote> <p>American schools have always sucked ass. Now you all know why.</p> </blockquote> <p>I remember one year we were all walking around for a week or so with all the hallway lights turned off so we could save money. My senior year, our theatre page had to share with the foreign exchange students.</p> <p>You know in Glee when all the glee kids have to raise money for everything and Sue spends a shit ton of money on the cheerleaders? Not even an exaggeration.</p> </blockquote> <p>Our theater program funding was cut to send our football team to St. Louis. They didn’t win anything but they tried really hard so they deserved a team trip.</p> </blockquote> <p>If this shit happened in England there would uproar</p> </blockquote> <p>I went to a private school where I was the French Club President, and our advisor was privately informed that all of the money we had been raising all year long would be absorbed into the Athletic Fund if there was anything left at the end of the school year. In response to this injustice, we decided to make an annual event a month before school ended where we would all go the Refectory (aka a fancy French restaurant in the city) and spend every single cent of our hard earned treasury. Like, this was just ONE instance that affected me personally. Things like this happen all the time in the United States.</p> </blockquote> <p>All throughout my experience with public schools in America (all 14 years of it), I always remembered that when we had to buy our own school supplies, and we were always told to buy classroom supplies like kleenexs, soap, hand sanitizers, and more. Because once the classroom ran out of this stuff we had nothing. And once I got into high school no one ever brought this stuff for the classrooms so I always found mucus rubbed on the walls in some classrooms and bathrooms and it’s was absolutely disgusting.</p> <p>And guess where all our money from the state went to? It’s ridiculous, and I’m glad I’m no longer in high school having to deal with a school who worships their football team, while all the other programs suffer to remain in the school.</p> </blockquote> <p>I haven’t been in highschool in 7 years but my brother is currently in highschool. Fuck football.</p> </blockquote> <p><a href="http://deadspin.com/infographic-is-your-states-highest-paid-employee-a-co-489635228">Infographic: Is Your State’s Highest-Paid Employee A Coach? Not enough books to go around, not enough teachers, no enough caregivers for the mentally handicapped, but hey, we got a new half million dollar track and field for no fucking reason. </p> </blockquote> <p>I’m still surprised by this, because I believed it was normal to spend 300€ each year in textbooks, and high school is even more expensive, maybe 400€. (I live in Southern Europe). </p> <p>How it works? The textbooks are school property? </p> </blockquote> <p>Yeah textbooks are paid for and provided by the school </p> </blockquote> <p>See my school was always the opposite of this… Well funded in pretty much every area except sports lol. In fact the departments that got the most funding were the arts, theater especially. I guess it’s just a school full of nerds? I mean our best varsity team was always robotics if that tells you anything… Honestly though the problem isn’t how much money the school’s being given usually, it’s how that money’s being spent. If all your money’s going towards sports while the rest of the school is falling apart, there’s a problem.</p></blockquote> <p>At the school where I teach we are always running out of things. Once we ran out of paper towels and we were out for like half a month.</p>

Books, Butthurt, and Disney: <p><a href="https://hst3000.tumblr.com/post/169017978202/libertarirynn-coffeefrenchandhistory" class="tumblr_blog">hst3000</a>:</p> <blockquote><p><a href="https://libertarirynn.tumblr.com/post/169016196974/coffeefrenchandhistory-beauty-nova" class="tumblr_blog">libertarirynn</a>:</p><blockquote> <p><a href="http://coffeefrenchandhistory.tumblr.com/post/169014585745/beauty-nova-coffeefrenchandhistory-anyways" class="tumblr_blog">coffeefrenchandhistory</a>:</p> <blockquote> <p><a href="https://beauty-nova.tumblr.com/post/169014430893/coffeefrenchandhistory-anyways-heres-the" class="tumblr_blog">beauty-nova</a>:</p> <blockquote> <p><a href="http://coffeefrenchandhistory.tumblr.com/post/169009033245/anyways-heres-the-actual-canon-of-luke" class="tumblr_blog">coffeefrenchandhistory</a>:</p> <blockquote><p>Anyways, here’s the actual canon of Luke Skywalker. He got married to Mara Jade, who was Emperor Palpatine’s badass Force-sensitive assassin, and he had a kid named Ben Skywalker. He didn’t run from his problems, he didn’t let setbacks slow him down. He faced his problems head on, became Grand Master of a New Jedi Order, and fought alongside the New Republic to bring peace to the galaxy. </p></blockquote> <p>also a clone of emperor palpatine turned him to the dark side</p> </blockquote> <p>Because he thought he could defeat the Dark Side from within (like Quinlan Vos). And Leia helped redeem him and bring him back to the Light (and she eventually also became a Jedi Master) </p> </blockquote> <p>I’m pretty sure Kylo (Ben Solo) was a Han and Leia’s son Jacen Solo being given the name of Luke and Mara’s son Ben Skywalker. Really it does make more sense for Luke to be the one who names his child after Obi-Wan since Han and Leia didn’t really have a relationship with him, but I’m sure Disney figured the name would be more recognizable and preferred to make Luke a bachelor. Jacen is the son of Han and Leia who turns to the Dark in the books. Honestly they had so much to work with with expanded universe, I don’t know why they canned it.</p> </blockquote> <p>Because unless they were prepared to do a line for line adaptation of the books (a lot of which aren’t that great), the butthurt from the fandom would make the current yelling look like a polite cough. (And they’d have to pay the authors ludicrous royalties. Better to scrap it and start over from a financial and storytelling perspective).</p></blockquote> <p>Well you’re probably right about that.</p>
