Community, Access, and Library: ultraviolet-techno-ecology An awful lot of housing clutter relates directly to the lack of community resources for temporary usage of occasional-use tools and supplies. The average kitchen for example contains a lot of appliances which are only used for special occasions, and a sort of Kitchen-Library could easily supply the necessary tool:s as-needed to an entire community without cluttering up everyone's individual homes In other words - Not every household requires access to a power drill every single day, but an awfully large number of households have had to make permanent space for a power drill they bought specifically for those rare days when they have been needed vighnantaka-bard This is a thought I've had in the past as well, it can be extended to many other specialized tools and other items. Even though I tend towards Thoreau-esque self-relianceI think that the general concept of a library can and should be extended much farther. There's a lot of potential yet to be tapped It's not a new idea either, the Haudenosaunee, also known as the Iroquois Confederacy implemented this practice extensively through what we could loosely call in English, "guilds." There are also some Amish communities who have an informal system for borrowing and passing along various building tools Contrary to popular belief, Amish people don't shun all modern technology and many of them today use power tools, albeit ones that are offgrid and meet specific requirements. The trope of barn-raising Amish people isn't very accurate these days, but cooperation, anti-consumption, and humility are still deeply ingrained their worldview Time to clear out our housing clutter.

Time to clear out our housing clutter.

Bored, Confused, and Crush: biggest-gaudiest-patronuses In 5th grade some boys hid my desk in the boys bathroom. I was confused when I got to school and it was missing, so I just sat on the floor and read my book until the teacher came in and made them put it back I realize now they were trying to trick me into go into the boys bathroom, but no one actually told me that's where my desk was, and it didn't occur to me to ask Looking back I realize they had to make the effort to get to school early to move it, and I feel a tiny bit of regret for not reacting more. -biggest-gaudiest-patronuses In 3rd grade Richard brought his new lacrosse set in for show in tell. the ball went missing during class time and at the end of the day we all had to check our bookbags to look for it. I only glanced in mine (I just wanted to go home), but that evening I found it at the bottom of my bag. I was so scared of being blamed, I threw it into the neighbor's yard and never told anyone. I found out 2 years later that my bully Luke put it there to frame me, and he was still extremely frustrated I hadn't gotten caught. I'm pretty sure Richard got a new ball. feral-renaissance-cat I had a crush on a boy I met in Kindergarten and made NO attempts to hide it because the people on TV were always telling each other when they liked each other. Didn't work as well as I'd hope (i.e. didn't work AT ALL and no boy wanted to hang out with me ever after that), but that's not the point. Skip ahead to third grade. We had a new kid who was kind of a jerk. One day he asks me if I havea crush and I'm like, "Yeah, [Crush]. And?" Dude turns around and yells to my crush "Hey! She has a crush on you My crush just kinda sighs and is like, "Yeah. I know. Everyone knows. Thanks." So this guy was hoping to embarrass me in front of everyone but it completely backfired because I lack the social filter necessary to feel ashamed of my base desires. darkhumourandfandoms One time in like kindergerden some kid stole my shoe and instead if reacting I just went the whole day barefoot. No one questioned it. He got bored of no reaction and just dropped the shoe but by then I was too committed and continued to walk around barefoot. lycant-guy22 Some of yall grew up with a low base stat of "fucks given" The Zero Fucks Given crowd
Community, Dicks, and Kkk: Tariq Nasheed @tariqnasheed Follow Insitoad ()i. marching 8' bo(jging for the city to remove Confederate statues from city parks, e lack rnn in Meermphis purchased the parks that had statues of Jefferson Davis & Nathan Bedford Forrest (founder of the KKK). Then THEY had the statues removed from THEIR property #Salute 1:48 334K views 1:06 PM-23 Dec 2017 721 t 13K 28K slightlypsychicparade: thatpettyblackgirl: No kneeling. No marching.#BlackExcellence Ugh. Okay, this is NOT the whole story. The city of Memphis wanted the statues removed, but their state’s legislature decided to be a big bag of dicks about it and passed a law forbidding them from doing so. To get around this, a plan was devised: the city could sell the parks to a private organization and now that it was private property, the state couldn’t tell them what they could and couldn’t do with that property. The city counsel voted under cover of darkness to sell the park to the non-profit run by these men, and construction vehicles immediately moved in to remove the statues. They were gone by morning. Like… this is still #BlackExcellence because (and correct me if I’m wrong here) Memphis is a predominantly black city. I just think it’s important to remember that this was a community effort and not the work of individuals. Fascists love to worship the narratives of “Great Men.” It is the responsibility of the resistance to remember that nothing can happen without the support of the community.
