Future, Life, and Love: LOOK AGAIN AT THAT DOT. THAT'S HERE. THAT'S HOME. THAT'S US. ON IT EVERYONE YOU LOVE, EVERYONE YOU KNOW, EVERYONE YOU EVER HEARD OF, EVERY HUMAN BEING WHO EVER WAS, LIVED OUT THEIR LIVES. THE AGGREGATE OF OUR JOY AND SUFFERING THOUSANDS OF CONFIDENT RELIGIONS, IDEOLOGIES, AND ECONOMIC DOCTRINES, EVERY HUNTER AND FORAGER, EVERY HERO AND COWARD, EVERY CREATOR AND DESTROYER OF CIVILIZATION, EVERY KING AND PEASANT, EVERY YOUNG COUPLE IN LOVE, EVERY MOTHER AND FATHER, HOPEFUL CHILD, INVENTOR AND EXPLORER, EVERY TEACHER OF MORALS EVERY CORRUPT POLITICIAN, EVERY "SUPERSTAR, EVERY "SUPREME LEADER, EVERY SAINT AND SINNER IN THE HISTORY OF OUR SPECIES LIVED THERE--ON A MOTE OF DUST SUSPENDED IN A SUNBEAM THE EARTH IS A VERY SMALL STAGE IN A VAST COSMIC ARENA. THINK OF THE RIVERS OF BLOOD SPILLED BY ALL THOSE GENERALS AND EMPERORS SO THAT, IN GLORY ฮต TRIUMPH THEY COULD BECOME THE MOMENTARY MASTERS OF A FRACTION OF A DOT. THINK OF THE ENDLESS CRUELTIES VISITED BY THE INHABITANTS OF ONE CORNER OF THIS PIXEL ON THE SCARCELY DISTINGUISHABLE INHABITANTS OF SOME OTHER CORNER, HOW FREQUENT THEIR MISUNDERSTANDINGS, HOW EAGER THEY ARE TO KILL ONE ANOTHER, HOW FERVENT THEIR HATREDS OUR POSTURINGS, OUR IMAGINED SELF-IMPORTANCE, THE DELUSION THAT WE HAVE SOME PRIVILEGED POSITION IN THE UNIVERSE, ARE CHALLENGED BY THIS POINT OF PALE LIGHT OUR PLANET IS A LONELY SPECK IN THE GREAT ENVELOPING COSMIC DARK. IN OUR OBSCURITY, IN ALL THIS VASTNESS, THERE IS NO HINT THAT HELP WILL COME FROM ELSEWHERE TO SAVE US FROM OURSELVES THE EARTH IS THE ONLY WORLD KNOWN SO FAR TO HARBOR LIFE. THERE IS NOWHERE ELSE, AT LEAST IN THE NEAR FUTURE, TO WHICH OUR SPECIES COULD MIGRATE. VISIT, YES SETTLE, NOT YET. LIKE IT OR NOT, FOR THE MOMENT THE EARTH IS WHERE WE MAKE OUR STAND IT HAS BEEN SAID THAT ASTRONOMY IS A HUMBLING AND CHARACTER-BUILDING EXPERIENCE. THERE IS PERHAPS NO BETTER DEMONSTRATION OF THE FOLLY OF HUMAN CONCEITS THAN THIS DISTANT IMAGE OF OUR TINY WORLD. TO ME, IT UNDERSCORES OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO DEAL MORE KINDLY WITH ONE ANOTHER, AND TO PRESERVE AND CHERISH THE PALE BLUE DOT, THE ONLY HOME WE'VE EVER KNOWN -CARL SAGAN, PALE BLUE DOT, 1994 spacevisuals:Pale Blue Dot by Carl Sagan [1x1px]

Children, Friends, and Life: NOT AGAIN CHARLOTESVILLE tzedektzedek-tirdof: kiras-monkey-bum-face: rootbeergoddess: wildlythoughtfulsquid: SERIOUSLY I am going to print this out and plaster it everywhere I go No but this is a heartbreaking and hereโ€™s why: The man in the picture is Leon Greenman (prisoner 98288) and he is the Englishman that survived Auschwitz and pretty much every other death/concentration camp set up by the Nazis, and his story is quite remarkable.ย  I canโ€™t remember the exact details, but he, his wife and his young child, all Jewish, lived in Rotterdam and during German occupation they were found out and sent to a concentration camp on the outskirts of Rotterdam. He had left his families British passports with friends back home, but the friends became afraid of hiding the passports of Jewish people so they burnt them. Leon requested multiple times for new passports so that they could get back to London, but the passports never arrived in time and Leon, his wife, and his child were separated and sent to Auschwitz. He never saw his wife or child again and he never remarried. ย He was moved from camp to camp throughout the war, and collected mementos from each camp as he went, until they were liberated by the allies in 1945, and he gives a first hand insight of what the Holocaust was like and what happened afterwards to the people that survived in his book. Itโ€™s calledย โ€œAn Englishman in Auschwitzโ€ and is a humbling read. My history teacher used to work at the Imperial War Museum in London and she had the pleasure of meeting him and listening to his story before he passed away in 2008 aged 97. He worked closely with the Jewish Museum London and fought fascism for the remainder of his life.ย  Sadly, the Imperial War Museum didnโ€™t find out about Leonโ€™s passing until a member of staff who was meant to meet with him dropped by his house and found that it had been taken over by squatters, who had stolen and mistreated some of his belongings. The museum were only given a few hours to collect all of his mementos and historical items from his time in the concentration camps, and as a historian itโ€™s just devastating to think about how all of these sentimental objects he collected were thrown aside like they were nothing So if you see someone publicly preaching fascism and hate, think of Leon Greenman and all the other men, women, and children that endured the Holocaust, and teach that piece of scum a lesson I did not know any of this. Thank you for the important addition.
Being Alone, Beautiful, and Crying: freemaofficial Dear Sense8 Family I have been meaning to write this letter for some time. The outpouring of love and grief that came in the wake of the news that Sense8 would not be continuing was so intense that I often found myself unable to open my own email. I confess I fell into a fairly serious depression. I had never worked so hard, or put so much of myself into a project as I had with Sense8 and its cancellation hollowed me out. I felt the disappointment of my amazing crew (I wish people could understand the impossibilities they achieved with implausible regularity.) I felt the sadness of the actors who had given so much of themselves, always finding more whenever the sun broke from the clouds. But most of all I felt the heartbreak of our fans (again I wish I could cluster with you to share some of the beautiful moments, the hugs, tears and laughter, as well as the insightful and humbling conversations I have had with people who have connected to this show, they are unlike any fans I have ever encountered as an artist). Friends kept calling from all over the world asking, 'Isn't there anything you can do?" And the truth was, no. By myself, there was nothing I could do. But just as the characters in our show discover that they are not alone, I too have learned that I am not just a me. I am also a we. The passionate letters, the petitions, the collective voice that rose up like the fist of Sun to fight for this show was beyond what anyone was expecting. In this world it is easy to believe that you cannot make a difference; that when a government or an institution or corporation makes a decision, there is something irrevocable about the decision; that love is always less important than the bottom line. But here is a gift from the fans of this show that I will carry forever in my heart: while it is Improbably, unforeseeably, your love has brought Sense8 back to life. (I could kiss every It is my great pleasure as well as Netflix's (believe me, they love the show as much as we often true those decisions are irreversible, it is not always true. single one of youl) do but the numbers have always been challenging) to announce that there will be another two hour special released next year. After that... if this experience has taught me anything, you NEVER know. Thank you all. Af, Fam, and Family: HAPPY HUMPDAY IG FAM!!!! How's your week treating you so far? I've been getting a lot of DM's asking about my posts from my IG story yesterday. Didn't mean to freak y'all out I'm fine!!! I just went to my oncologist yesterday for my 6 month check up. NBD not totally dying or anything. ๐Ÿ˜œI had surgery in March of 2016 and another procedure in Nov last year. I haven't had to undergo chemo or radiation thank GOD!!! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ Going back again later this year and as of now still not sure where things are at but that won't stop me!!! I try not to post too much about my health battles because I refuse to be defined by a temporary problem. I've got a lot I want to do with my life and I won't allow ANYTHING to get in my way!!! My Mom encouraged me to share that part of myself with y'all as I'm clearly not your typical cancer patient and it's weird AF to go through this process with the life I post about online. Going through this and still having to go through a divorce has been a painful but very humbling experience for me. It's given me a new perspective on life and I value and appreciate so many of the little things life has to offer because I know how short and precious it can be. NOT very LA of me. I feel like the black sheep in this town because all I care about is the making great art, working, my family, my health and giving back. I could give two shits about the parties and the scene!!! Part of my job is getting to connect w- u wonderful humans so thank you all for supporting me in every possible way!!! ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜‡๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ I absolutely love inspiring y'all and connecting with y'all!!! I hope this post inspires you to keep going no matter what's dragging you down in your life right now!!! Just know that it's only temporary and YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF HOW YOU REACT TO IT!!! I truly have faith and hope that everything in life will get better no matter what the circumstances are!!! So after this long speech today I want to share one of my favorite inspirational quotes: "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." - Victor E. Frankl
Bailey Jay, Beautiful, and Cars: Look deep into this child's eyes, what do you see. We took this picture when we were in Somalia, I hope to return one day, it was such a beautiful and humbling experience. When there is a famine, children are the most affected. The 2011 famine in Somalia, cost the lives of over 200,000 children... There were many factors that contributed to this, but I think the presiding factor is that some humans, have been dehumanised by other humans, to the point where we don't even care if they die or live. In fact many people globally don't think or care about people who are different to them. The fact of the matter is this, we are all different, this is beautiful and should be celebrated. Globally it seems that we care less about Black and brown people, muslims and women... I'm not making this up, just switch on the news, African muslims are being depicted as terrorists everyday. It's silly really, didn't a European goverment just drop the worlds largest none nuclear bomb, but they will never be called terrorists, in Afghanistan, where westerners invaded to control the world supply of Opium, so they can make methadone, Codeine and morphine, and control the trillion dollar vein of lithium "found" there, so we can have batteries in our phones and cars. I am not Somali but I am African, I am not Muslim but I do believe in Unity, I am not a woman but I do have a mother, I don't have any children but I do support orphanages. You might be none of the above, but you are human. There is still a famine going on, children are still dying, what are you going to do about it? Look into this child's eyes, what do you see? I see you chakabars โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ด

Memes, Oblige, and Evolve: DON'T KILL PEOPLE WITH KINDNESS, BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE DESERVES YOUR KINDNESS. KILL PEOPLE WITH SILENCE, BECAUSE NOT EVERYONE DESERVES YOUR ATTENTION Personally I say don't kill people just love them โค or leave them. Some people never grow, evolve or better themselves. I no longer chill with people like this. In life, I can only speak from the perspective of my experiences. As I grow older and wiser I have been learning more about the world, this affects my opinions and decisions day to day. Once you make an observation, you have an obligation to make decisions, based on the new information. Yet some people will still behave in the same negative manner, as they did all those years ago. Some of the reasons that people don't evolve: They don't read books! They are tying to copy celebrities. They can't stop smoking, drinking, taking drugs and eating sh*t foods. They revel in their ignorance. They don't question anything. They aren't humble enough to learn from somebody else with more experience. They believe everything the media tells them. They are in a spiritual battle and don't want to objectively analyse themselves. Some of the reasons people evolve: They experience some sort of life changing traumatic event. They read and study. They start to love themselves without negative judgement. They learn to believe in themselves. They get a mentor, someone with more experience than them and they learn from them. They have children and want to give their children a childhood, that they don't have to spend the rest of their lives recovering from. Somebody close to them passes away and this humbles them, making them change their behavioural habits. There are many more reasons why people grow and why people stay the same. But remember, the wiser person knows that they will always have much to learn. I have no time for forced conversion, people who refuse to grow and unnecessary relationships. I don't feel sorry for this in any way, shape or form. chakabars
