That’s…kinda cool actually Not just kinda, pretty dang cool Honestly in terms of sets? Very little of the Prequels were CGI. Lucas actively attempted to cultivate the idea that he used CGI for everything because he wanted to be perceived as cutting edge. Mustufar? That’s an actual miniature set. The poured jello over the top of neon lights to make the lava. Naboo? Also used miniatures; they used salt instead of water to make the water falls look right at that scale. Okay, are we all just gonna ignore that set designers had to painstakingly cut, paint, and arrange 500,000 q-tips?!? The models for the clone facilities on Kamino are some of my faves from the PT, seen here being worked on by Adam Savage! Holy shit, that’s really cool : The crowds of the pod races in Star Wars Episode I were half a million painted q-tips. With a blowing fan underneath the model stands, the q-tips would move around like a live crowd. patron-saint-of-smart-asses: everybody-look-right: washingtonstateconservative: ctrlgeek: webbgirl34: thebigsisteryouneveraskedfor: Gisella Perl was forced to work as a doctor in Auschwitz concentration camp during the holocaust. She was ordered to report ever pregnant women do the physician Dr. Josef Mengele, who would then use the women for cruel experiments (e.g. vivisections) before killing them. She saved hundreds of women by performing abortions on them before their pregnancy was discovered, without having access to basic medical supplies. She became known as the “Angel of Auschwitz”. After being rescued from Bergen-Belsen concentration camp she tried to commit suicide, but survived, recovered and kept working as a gynecologist, delivering more than 3000 babies. I want to nail this to the forehead of every anti-abortionist who uses the word “Holocaust” when talking about legal abortions. Yeah… she became a gynecologist and was extremely pro-life after she got out of the camps. In an interview with Nadine Brozan for the New York Times in 1982, Dr. Perl recalled her initial experiences with Dr. Mengele’s “cure” for pregnancy in Auschwitz. ”Dr. Mengele told me that it was my duty to report every pregnant woman to him,” Dr. Perl said. ”He said that they would go to another camp for better nutrition, even for milk. So women began to run directly to him, telling him, ‘I am pregnant.’ I learned that they were all taken to the research block to be used as guinea pigs, and then two lives would be thrown into the crematorium. I decided that never again would there be a pregnant woman in Auschwitz.” Let’s analyze the situation: mother and child alike were both going to be killed anyway if the pregnancy was discovered. Leaving wasn’t an option. Freedom was nonexistent, and the perspectives of all involved were colored by living in hell on earth. After the war, she dedicated her life to Holocaust remembrance, infertility treatment, and delivering babies – not destroying them. The New York Times quotes her as saying, “No one will ever know what it meant to me to destroy those babies, but if I had not done it, both mother and child would have been cruelly murdered.” Perl never pretended they weren’t babies, that their lives didn’t matter, or that their deaths weren’t cruel. Holy crap. I literally got a ton of shit a few months ago for saying that maybe, just maybe, Perl’s actions don’t justify abortion as a whole. Well, it goes to show that I should’ve done more research, to find out that Perl herself doesn’t pretend that was she did was right, or that it justifies abortion now. There was another woman, a midwife, who was devout Catholic and helped to care for pregnant women and hide the babies, and continued her work in midwifery after the war. Last I heard she was in the canonization process in the Catholic Church. Fucking THANK YOU I’m so tired of pro-choicers using her as a “gotcha”. She had to do a terrible thing in a terrible circumstance. That has literally no relation to first world abortion legislation today.: 5909 "I decided that never again would there be a pregnant woman in Auschwitz." patron-saint-of-smart-asses: everybody-look-right: washingtonstateconservative: ctrlgeek: webbgirl34: thebigsisteryouneveraskedfor: Gisella Perl was forced to work as a doctor in Auschwitz concentration camp during the holocaust. What??: The Tortoise The Fox One day while out on a walk, a Tortoise happened upon a hungry fox looking out across a pond. "Hello, Fox!" the Tortoise said, "I know you are hungry, but please do not try to hurt me. If you do, I can simply hide inside my shell, and you will never get in."' That is true, your shell is very strong" said the fox. "But can you hide from how ugly you look right now? You are so ugly man, it's just disgusting. You smelly old wrinkly raisin. I'm tired of looking at you." The turtle was not prepared for this absolutely savage roast. He got clowned on for real. He really does look like a raisin, too.
Black history month artist edition day 3: American jazz musician Louis Armstrong.

Armstrong was born in New Orleans in 1901 to a 16-year-old girl. His father abandoned the family soon after his birth. He was raised by his maternal grandmother until the age of five, then went back to live with his mother and attended a school for boys were he learned literacy and was first exposed to music. During his school years, Louis would bring in money delivering coal and other odd jobs working for the Karnoffskys, a family of Lithuanian Jews. The Karnoffskys took Louis under their wing, nurturing him in the absence of his father. In turn, Louis grew to deeply love and respect the family, feeling a special connection with them because they were also mistreated by the “other white folks“ for being Jewish. In a tribute to them, he wore a Star of David pendant for the rest of his life.

He came to musical prominence in the 1920s, known for his impressive trumpet stylings and unique, gravelly vocals. He is considered one of the few black artists to successfully cross into the mainstream of American musical culture during that time. He went from playing riverboat bands to being a bandleader and collaborating with many other artists, perhaps most notably with Ella Fitzgerald. Louis always credited his New Orleans upbringing for his musical influences.

“Every time I close my eyes blowing that trumpet of mine—I look right in the heart of good old New Orleans… It has given me something to live for.”
:
Black history month artist edition day 3: American jazz musician Louis Armstrong.

Armstrong was born in New Orleans in 1901 to a 16-year-old girl. Legit every culture in the world does it wtf. the mashed potatoes don’t even look right. how do you fuck up mashed potatoes????? Oh yeah I didnt even mention the mashed potatoes. Look Right: PERSONALLY- the neck is something i never thought much of till I got to school and whoa! the lines make a difference how i see it: - base of the head - top and center of the shoulders the neck joins the head and the body (or just shoulders, whatever but body too, important when drawing some poses) while drawing these, I made the neck into a lil cylinder so F THAT HELPS, GO FOR IT! I go from maybe the start of the ears or sides of head variationssssssssssssss ey width of shoulders varies this KINDA gets off topic but having some suggestive lines (hue) helps plan out proportions! helps with - clothing some characters have a thing with symmetry so yeh! there is a '' always draw (sketches are messy because a BUNCH of lines help me sculpt out the pose and proportions) but the 'v' always leads me to shoulder angles, body angle, direction, chest, head, everything. Also helps to hightlight the clavicle ill def be critiquing my work stuff so sorry for endless comments im sad shes jumping in air but I didnt get the right face but bless shading, helps emphasis neck muscles line of action is important, its like basics for posing but only recently did I learn to change my standstill neck lines to curves and VERY straight line:s shading the best drawn from looking at image TRACED ITS OK WHEN LEARNING! line of action :v the neck kinda looks the same on both sides couldve pushed for more of a curve traced drawn what somtimes poses are hard as heck and sometimes you cant just draw the head, body, chest, legs, to capture one pose. this one BAFFLED me on 'WHY DOESNT IT LOOK RIGHT' until I drew it beloW looks ok neck barely visible which is why I did this, but STILLLL you can see a little bit! shading, adding a thick line below the head on the neck helps me define some volume to the neck I normally do the 2nd example but there is nothing wrong is adding more detail more shading or anything if that is YOUR style! EK ocateADOC.com PLEASE look at references, purchase an anatomy book, DRAW the muscles, learn the many ways to turn your neck, do it yourself, take pics if needed, friend, family etc for reference its all like an arrow idk messy sketches help you see what WORKS what to KEEP what to CHANGE take note of HOW your drawing works if it makes sense what can you get away with :v im still learning in adding depth to fa ces/chins/necks too! practice never hurts ELIXIROVERDOSE
