America, Apparently, and Beautiful: dank-space-memes: inkandcayenne: wilfulwayfarer: rasec-wizzlbang: dalaisa-katili: local-emo-mom: anarcho-individualist: explanatorypower: i dont understand this at all and america scares the fuck out of me This is the america they don’t want you to see i love america This is what you call Waffle House at 2 am when the bars close and everyone is drunk and hungry *group of people having fun*this site: wtf this is so scary People having safe fun at a waffle house is scary for most Tumblr bloggers, reports say. Some context for those not familiar with Waffle House Culture: Waffle House is one of the few chains in America that’s open 24/7/365, and where you can get both breakfast and lunch/dinner options at any time (I have had so many Breakfast Cheeseburgers at Waffle Houses). The food is really good, and people eat there at all times of the day or night, but it’s particularly popular as a late-night post-drinking spot because it’s all that’s open and it’s the kind of food that tastes especially good when you’re hammered. Part of Waffle House Protocol is that all the servers and cooks greet every single customer as they come through the door. It sounds lame, but I’ve never been to a Waffle House where that greeting didn’t feel completely heartfelt. My mom is a health nut who could barely find anything on the menu she was willing to eat and yet she describes the Christmas Day lunch we had there one year as one of the nicest meals she’s ever had because everyone was so warm and welcoming. That sense of camaraderie gets turned up to 11, of course, at 2 a.m. when everyone’s shitfaced. The jukeboxes have Waffle-House-themed songs on them (once you have heard “Raisins in my Toast” you will be earwormed forever) and there is an arcane system of hash brown ordering: scattered, smothered, covered, chunked, topped, diced, peppered, and/or capped. The hot sauce bottles say “Casa de Waffle.” Once, in Oxford (UK), my husband and I walked past a kebab van very late one night and he said “why do I smell Waffle House” The location of most Waffle Houses means there’s some… classism that tends to get tied up with Anti-Waffle House Discourse, which is probably lending itself, in part, to this being such a fraught topic. (I’m looking at a map and apparently I was born and raised right in the middle of the Peak Waffle House Density Zone) It is, in the words of chef Anthony Bourdain, “indeed marvelous— an irony-free zone where everything is beautiful and nothing hurts; where everybody regardless of race, creed, color or degree of inebriation is welcomed.” This was adorable lmao Waffle Houses are also kind of popular places to get shot at but other than that it’s pretty dank

The ones who trust most people to legally own and use guns responsibly? Private businesses have the right to deny service to anyone and do whatever they want, except when it direcrly affects me. OP didn’t say businesses shouldn’t have the right, they just said they wouldn’t patronize any business that did. If I walk into a joint and they start randomly insulting my parentage, genitalia, and genetic viability, I’m not going back there again, even though they’re just exercising their free speech rights. This may be hard for you to grasp, but many people think people should have the right to do things the first group considers wrong. Was at a festival this past spring and saw a group of people open carry and they all had shirts on with “you’re welcome for the protection.” There were cops at the event and I really wouldn’t want grandma who couldn’t come close to the corn hole boards taking any life or death shots. Okay. Were any of the people in question grandmas, or are you just making that up? People who want you disarmed don’t want you to be safe. They want you to be defenseless. “oh you silly geese, there aren’t going to be any mass shootings in that restaurant.” You know who else thought that? The people who went to Luby’s in Killeen, TX on October 16, 1991. The people who went to Twin Peaks in Waco, TX on May 17, 2015. The people who went to McDonald’s in San Ysidro, CA on July 18, 1984. And the tournament gamers at Chicago Pizza in Jacksonville, FL less than 2 months ago. FOH with that bullshit. Or Waffle House, when they banned guns and explicitly stood by that policy even after incidents involving criminals and guns in their joints, even though someone armed nearby intervened on more than one of those occasions. Getting shot at Waffle House is practically a meme now. I personally know at least one person who was involved in a shooting at one of our local Waffle Houses I’m sure there are more.

Memes, Wrestling, and Army: DOD INVESTIGATING WHETHER MARINES WERE ASLO INVOLVED IN GREEN BERET MURDER New forensic evidence suggests more people may have been present the night of Logan Melgar's death in Mali WASHINGTON — The military is investigating whether two Marine Raiders played a role in the choking death of a Green Beret in Mali last year and the possible cover up of how it occurred, according to five U.S. defense officials. Two Navy SEALs from DEVGRU are already under investigation for their involvement in the strangling death of Staff Sgt. Logan Melgar during the predawn hours of June 4, 2017. Melgar, 34, died in embassy housing he shared with other service members in Bamako, capital of the West African nation. A September 2017 Army Criminal Investigative Division report about the incident quotes Navy SEAL Tony DeDolph saying he and Army Staff Sgt. Logan Melgar were wrestling at 4 a.m. when a fellow SEAL Adamcranston Matthew came in and joined in the horseplay. According to the SEALS, the men fell down together and when they stood up Melgar wasn’t breathing. The SEALs say they attempted CPR and tried to open an airway, but Melgar died of asphyxiation. The same report, however, says a witness told investigators that DeDolph and Matthews were among a group of people angry at Melgar, and had made comments about getting back at him. According to that witness, “DeDolph admitted … that he ‘choked [Melgar] out.’ ” and had used duct tape on him. A military medical examiner ruled that Melgar’s death was “homicide by asphyxiation.” Now forensic evidence uncovered during a Navy investigation indicates two Marines may have been present during the night, say five U.S. defense officials. Adam Stump, spokesperson for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which has been probing the incident, declined to comment on the two Marines. “We don’t talk about open investigations,” Stump said. A spokesperson for U.S. Marine Special Operations Command also declined to comment on the two Marines. “It is our policy not to comment on ongoing investigations,” Maj. Nick Mannweiler said.

Family, Memes, and Money: Street Vendor Robbed and Brutally Beaten in South Los Angeles By Christine Kim Públished at 6:40 PM PDT on Mar 18, 2018 | Updated 2 hours ago 1.7k Justice for Pedro! Via NBC News: "A family is pleading for the public’s help after their loved one – a street vendor - was robbed and brutally beaten right before his shift. Pedro Reyes, 54, was among a group of street vendors setting up shop around 5 a.m. Sunday at San Pedro Street and 31st Street in South Los Angeles. Two vehicles pulled up and a group of young men inside demanded money from three street vendors, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Reyes told detectives he threw his money at the suspects and ran – and that’s when they chased after him and beat him up. His stepson told NBC4 that the group of people knocked out three of Reyes' teeth, cut his throat, fractured his face and left him unconscious. Reyes was the most severely hurt – the other two vendors had minor injuries and were not taken to the hospital. Police say the suspects took money from all three of them, though. Reyes remains hospitalized at California Hospital Medical Center in downtown Los Angeles. He's set to undergo surgery Monday on his face. Speaking from his hospital bed, Reyes said six men attacked him, leaving him unconscious and waking up in the hospital. His stepson said doctors are estimating it will take Reyes at least six months to fully recover from the attack. He does not have health insurance and a GoFundMe has so far raised almost $40,000 for his medical costs. He said his father is a man who works everyday – does roofing six days a week and on Sundays sells fruit. His main worry now is how to support his family. If you would like to donate to a GoFundMe account set up for Pedro Reyes, you may do so here. Note that GoFundMe deducts 2.9 percent of all funds raised, plus 30 cents per donation, in the form of payment processing charges."

This genre follows the aesthetics and technology of Western civilization during the mid to late middle ages, though sometimes it’s set in the Victorian era.

Cyberpunk: Has advanced technology and often focuses on artificial intelligence and the cyber world. The setting is often near-future rather than far-future. Blade Runner is an example.

Dieselpunk: Based on aesthetics and technology between World War I and World War II, sometimes up until the Cold War.

Decopunk: Ranges from the aesthetics of the 1920’s to the 1950’s. Decopunk aesthetic is heavily based on modernism. Less gritty than dieselpunk.

Elfpunk: Basically urban fantasy, but with common high or epic fantasy creatures put in an urban setting rather than vampires and werewolves.

Nanopunk: Similar to biopunk, but biotechnology is less available and nanotechnology is common.

Sandalpunk: Set in ancient worlds, such as Rome, but with advanced technology.

Splatterpunk: Extremely graphic and contains a lot of gore.

Steampunk: This genre gets its name from the heavy steam-powered technology involved. For starters, they help agents and publishers get an idea of what they’re in for if you’re going through the traditional publishing route. While bookstores usually just put these genres within science fiction or fantasy, you can still market your book through sub genres to reach a specific group of people who are looking for these genres.

However, there are a lot of sub genres, most of which many have not heard of. If you’ve written one of these genres and intend to publish it, the best would be to put it under another name (with the exception of steampunk, cyberpunk, and biopunk). For example, if you have written a candlepunk story, you can propose it as fantasy, alternate historical fiction, or any other genre it may fit in. While atomicpunk is quite common, it’s not well known by that name. If you have written an atompunk story, the best way to market it would be to call it retro science fiction.

But what’s the difference between punk genres and historical fiction? Are you gonna charge 3 people shooting at you with AR-15’s while using nothing to defend yourself except a handgun?

I’m not gonna get too mad at a guy who didn’t immediately rush in with nothing but a pistol to defend himself and the students against what he probably thought was a group of people with automatic machine-guns. You can’t have it both ways. You can’t have a person whose job it supposedly is to protect students completely not do that job and then say “well I mean you can’t really blame him it is scary after all“.

As someone who suffers from PTSD, I am very familiar with how the brain reacts to trauma. This officer had a classic freeze response, which is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT NATURAL IN A TRAUMATIC SITUATION. You people who are barrating him for being a fucking human being are disgusting. You don’t know that you wouldn’t do the same fucking thing, so lay off him. Don’t you think he already feels guilty enough?! He was SCARED. I would be too. Anyone who thinks this is okay to blame him for is a dick head and obviously needs to take a psychology class. He couldn’t help how his brain reacted. When in a traumatic situation, one freezes because their body chooses to conserve its energy in order to keep the person alive. His hands and legs may have been shaky and unable to move because the blood flow that normally goes to those extremities is pumping fully into his heart to keep it beating. All unneccesary parts of the brain shut down and all the energy of the brain is used to keep the person’s heart pumping and keep their lungs breathing in air. That’s also why when panicked its harder to breathe. Your body is trying to get as much oxygen as physically possible so you don’t die. So ya’ll just fucking chill about this man. Its a natural and involuntary response to trauma and you weren’t there. Fuck you for being part of the problem.

The point is that clearly police officers are not these infallible superhumans who can be 100% trusted to protect us so it’s ridiculous to suggest that they are the only ones who need guns. People go on and on about the extensive training these people get and how if we are ever in trouble we can just call the police and we don’t need to worry about arming ourselves but then shit like this happens and the reality is it’s not even uncommon for police officers to choose saving their own hides over protecting other people. We know cops are human. That’s why we don’t put all of our trust in them.

Confidence, Energy, and Friends: ASPIRE TO INSPIRE BEFOR WE EXPIRE Has anyone ever inspired you to change your life in a significant way that made you healthier, happier, or more fulfilled? If so, you understand the difference that positive inspiration can make in a person’s life. - 👀Would you like to know the simplest ways to inspire people and change their lives?👇 ✔️Care. If you can’t show a person that you genuinely care about them, do you think you will be able to inspire them? The answer is a resounding, “NO!” Show people you care in your words (“How are you today?”) and your actions (small acts of kindness go a long way). ✔️Be enthusiastic. The saying “enthusiasm is contagious” is common enough to be cliché, but it’s a cliché because it’s true. Reflect enthusiasm every day to the people you are in contact with and I’m willing to wager your genuine smiles, positive energy, and caring concern will be returned ten-fold. ✔️Earn trust. If a person you know and love tells you a secret, it stays between you and them. Trust takes a long time to build, but it can be destroyed overnight, so don’t take part in workplace gossip or unnecessary drama in your social networks so you can be a positive influence that people are unafraid to talk to. ✔️Reach for the stars. No one will be inspired by a person who resigns themselves to “reality” (such a dreadful place that sounds devoid of hope or personal growth in my opinion). Be ambitious, aim high, and never surrender if you want to inspire people that they, too, can accomplish anything they set their mind to. ✔️Stay true to who you are. A lot of us have a variety of “selves” that come out depending on the social situation: home, work, and friends all require a different song-and-dance. But putting on a different show for every group of people you encounter is super exhausting, and it’s certainly not a good way to inspire people around you. Would you place your confidence in a person who was so uncomfortable in their personality that they felt the need to pander to whatever crowd they were with? Embrace your true self without apology. - aspire inspire success live millionairementor

It should be pointed out, too, that those Republican politicians, who can be heartless when they vote, immediately got out to help.”

In other words “yeah OK fine I’m sorry a guy died in that tragic incident I celebrated just because it inconvenienced people I don’t like but Republicans are still meanieheads so anyway you can kind of see where I was coming from” Here’s a tip Stephen: if your “apology“ includes snide mentions of how bad you think another group of people are, you’re deflecting and it’s not a real apology.
