I worked for the Ritz Carlton for a few years. In my orientation, the HR rep told everyone that each employee has a special allowance of $1,500 to make sure they can help the guests feel like their stay would be memorable. There was a story about a guest who last his Rolex and asked the front desk if they had seen it or one of the maids took it and complained a lot. When the guest finally left, the guy from the front desk went out and purchased the guest a new Rolex and was reimbursed fully by the Ritz. Baked, Cookies, and Family: rsasai lumos5001 One of those things that the human mind doesn't actually understand is numbers. Take cookies, for instance. You look at some cookies. If there are more than four cookies, chances are that you have to actually count them. Uniess they're arranged in a specific geometric pattern, which can sometimes help (Your mind has a number associated with the pattern, and pulis that out when you look at it). So if you just look at some cookies, you dont really understand how many are there. Maybe a dozen? You dont know. So when you want to make some cookies, you find a recipe. This recipe usually telis you how many cookies it yields. A lot of the time, it's something like 18-24. 24 cookies?f you say. That might not seem like a lot. It's only two dozen, right? You try and picture in your head 24 cookies, but you cant really get a sense of the scale, of how many 24 cookies is So you're making cookies for multiple people. "24 doesnt sound like a lot of cookies for a few people... should double the recipe, is what you tell yourself. 48 cookies. That sounds a lot better, right? That's a lot of cookiest That wil be enough. So you make some cookies. Except now you have more than 48, because it's an estimation and you're not that great at dividing a batch of cookie dough into exactly 48 cookies. So you start baking them. Then you make the frosting, because you're making trosted cookies because awww yisss frosted cookies. Then all of your cookies bake. And you look at these 60 cookies you have now, and this bowl of trosting. That's a lot of cookies.. you think to yourself. Because now you see the cookies, and realize that 24 would have been enough. But you've baked them all, and made the frosting. So you settie down and start frosting cookies, one at a time. Each cookie is about three inches across. That's seven square inches of cookie. So you frost these cookies, except you cant just put them in a container because they'll have frosting on top and on the bottom and it'll be this giant mess. So you spread them out until the frosting has some time to set. Except now you need somewhere to lay them out. Each cookie may only be 7 square inches, but there's gaps. And some cookies are larger, some are smaller. It's not an even ft. So you just start spreading them over any available surface. And now your ktchen is covered in cookies And that is the story of how every available surface in my kitchen became covered in cookies. Okay. So, last year I was making peanut butter cookies. I looked at the recipe, and it said that the bath would create 36 cookies. I was affronted by the idea of 36 cookies, because my family has like 16 people, and those cookies wouldn't go very far So. I doubled it. I ended up with over 250 cookies and I still don't even know /how. There were 6 other trays. Just FYI orteil42 keep going please Source: lumos5001 69,226 notes Cookies.

Absolutely! The average active adult needs 2,000 calories per day in order to function in a safe and healthy manner. If I’m active to the point where I consistently run 1+ hour every day, then it is far more likely that my caloric needs are around 2,400-2,500. Considering that, a meal of 1,200 calories would perfectly suit my needs. It would supply roughly half of my calorie requirements, which is a God-send since a fast food meal is relatively cheap. It’s a great value, especially if I don’t have much time to cook or have the resources to prepare my own meals! The average burger is going to supply me with significant protein and carbs. That’s exactly what I’d need in order to build more muscle and have enough energy to make it through a workout. Even the sugar within the meal can be beneficial in supplying me with a boost of energy and can stop me from feeling hungry for a prolonged period of time. Not half bad. Is this the most healthy meal known to man? Of course not. But it’s still a very reasonable deal and the calorie count is well within the average adult’s daily needs.  Don’t let calories scare you! You need them. If you were capable of burning off an entire meal within the hour, you’d probably be dead by now. 1200 empty calories in a meal next to no nutrition. all the calories are sugar and fat. that’s it. you’ll have no energy and have glucose spikes in your blood because the lack of fiber because of the lack of complex carbs. this is diabetes in a meal.  so no, you should not be hungry for diabetes Nutritionally, this BK meal contains roughly 28g of protein and 3g of dietary fiber. It potentially also includes 35% of our Vitamin C daily requirements, 2% Vitamin A, 12% calcium, and 27% iron. Of the 1,010 calories (that I could verify directly from the company’s nutritional information guide), only 410 are from fat. That isn’t a terribly significant amount of fat, in the long run, nor are the nutrients small enough to be viewed as negligible. Eating this will not cause you to get diabetes. Eating this meal is perfectly fine if you do have diabetes, as long as you are able to adjust your insulin intake accordingly. So don’t use an illness as your debate point - Diabetic people are not a prop. “So don’t use an illness as your debate point - Diabetic people are not a prop.” I want that and variations of that on t shirts. damn, man. Someone just got completely schooled by a nutritionist. THIS A GOOD POST I’ve reblogged this again but I feel like it needs to be SAID again. Also someone needs to please come drive me to burger king and buy me a burger. Pretty please? I am diabetic, and the only thing that would give me pause is the drink. If that’s a diet soda, then it’s all fine. I mean sure, white bread isn’t the best possible thing, but it is the kind I mostly eat, and fried potatoes are basically OK because they’re starch, not simple sugar. Fries and a burger are better for me and more predictable than fruit. Fruit is a wild gamble. This meal - assuming diet soda - is one I can dose for. (I am diabetic because autoimmune conditions run in my family, and my pancreas has been randomly targeted for death by my immune system. Diet didn’t cause it and couldn’t have prevented it. Do not tell me I’m sick because I eat wrong. I’m alive because I eat.) We also need to ditch the idea that there is any such thing as food that is just “empty calories”. Presumably what people mean by that is that the only nutritional value something gives you is it’s calorific content.  The only foods that do that are things that are literally pure sugar. If you are eating pure sugar then yes you are only getting calories in the form of short chain carbohydrates/sugars that are broken down into glucose quickly. But for some people and in some instances that’s not a bad thing.  “empty calories” aren’t morally or even nutritionally bad. Sometimes that’s what our body needs -  a quick injection of glucose and calories for energy. Honestly I would rather glug a glucose drink like lucozade than a high caffeine “energy drink” when I am tired and need a boost any day of the week. But when people apply the “empty calories” thing to actual foods that aren’t pure sugar it is just inaccurate and frustrating. I mean, let’s take a step up from pure sugar and mix it with a fat in order to make buttercream frosting. If you at a spoon full of that it wouldn’t be “empty calories”. Sure it is a high sugar content so you are getting a high number of calories per spoonful and they are short chain carbohydrates so it’s not lasting energy but it’s still vital energy. But you are also ingesting fat. Fat isn’t bad for you, we need fats in our diet. It’s not a “empty calorie” it’s a vital part of how our body works. OK let’s look at something more sensible, a burger bun. Just he bun mind you, not even a complete meal like a full on burger. Even white bread contains a lot of nutrients which are useful to your body. You are going to be getting a mixture of carbohydrates both short and long so your body will have ongoing energy. Even white flour contains some proteins and trace minerals such as iron. There’s small amounts of fat, and salt in there too. Certainly not an “empty calorie” - quite a lo of useful stuff for your body. But please for the love of fluffy kittens stop thinking that “calories” are discrete magical food particles which are in some way separate from the things which actually make up our food. Food is pretty complex and our bodies even more so. We need calories, we also make use of a lot of different things that are found in all sorts of food.  Remember that a calorie is a unit of measurement to show how much energy something produces. Calorie content is calculated literally by burning food. A calorie isn’t a nutrient in the same way as carbohydrates, proteins, amino acids, fats and minerals are. A food item isn’t made up of calories. It is made up of molecules of carbs, fats proteins and so on. It is the burning of those that gives us calorie content. If something has calories then it HAS to have other nutritional content in order to physically exist even if that content is just short chain carbohydrates.  Unless somebody is only eating pure sugar they aren’t eating “empty calories”.

Apparently, Ass, and Crazy: Guy Fieri Officiated 101 Gay Weddings In Florida Over The Weekend BY VINCE MANCINI 02.24.15 fl LIKE 24 VIA TWITTER birdtypeglitch: arkthepieking: soullesshusk: nudityandnerdery: whimmy-bam: somasis: t-ardigrades: ghostsnif: now THIS is an ally Awe dude his sister died last year and she was gay. And he had this huge mass wedding party to honor her. And he called a bunch of celebrity chefs to make the food for it. Wow this is… really cute? I’m… sympathizing with Guy Fieri? (And he did 101 gay weddings because he was trying to compare the Attorney General against marriage equality to Cruella DeVille, like, 101 dalmations.) THE TRUE UNPROBLEMATIC FAVE Come to think of it I never actually found a single reason to dislike him. To my knowledge he’s just a goofball who likes food. Okay, so as far as I can tell, the whole thing people kinda roll their eyes about is Guy Fierei’s whole presentation. He’s loud and he’s got the bleached hair and he kinda seems like the annoying frat bro chanting “Shots!” at a party.  But. Dude’s biggest show on TV is one where he drives around and highlights tiny restaurants that make good food. (And they do- I found my favorite pizza place in town because it was on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.) And they’re all little places, usually run by family or something, making food they love. So he’s doing an amazingly awesome thing for these small restaurants, driving a lot of business to them. I found this article that’s talking about how places see a definite bump in sales, and they can even tell when a repeat airs, because they’ll still get emails and stuff.  And there’s the fact that every time he goes out to film an episode, he invites a kid along from the Make-a-Wish foundation- actually, he invites their whole family, so no one feels left out. Apparently, that happens on all his shows, which is pretty amazing. Again, this is because of his sister- she was diagnosed with cancer as a kid, and beat it, though she died of melanoma a few years ago. So because he went through that as a kid, he does a lot to help out families who are dealing with that sort of thing. It’s pretty awesome. I admit it, I’ve made fun of him before, because he does have that whole attitude that kinda grates. But when you put that aside, he’s a dude who’s enjoying himself, helping out a lot of people, and talking a lot about food he thinks is delicious. So good for him. There’s worse things in the world. I have always and will always love guy.he’s such a big goof…what’s not to love… Y'all Guy is wonderful. He got his start on Next Food Network Star and I remember that season very vividly. I saw it as a kid. He just wants people to have fun while they eat. That’s literally his only goal. There was a challenge where they had to make cupcakes for 5 year olds and everyone made these boring ass cupcakes like ‘Oh they’re decorated like the 4 seasons see its educational’ and they were criminally dull. The only thing that was changed was the frosting. And Guy comes up and starts making all these crazily shaped sushi cupcakes. Like cutting them into goofy shapes, making them bite sized, modeling them after dragons and stuff, it was so cool and the kids were EXCITED. He gets what makes thing fun on a fundamental, basic level. He’s not a douchebag frat boy. He’s that crazy uncle you were always excited to see at family gatherings. Go watch Guy’s Grocery Games. Its on Hulu. He’s so goofy and fun and he’s just as excited for the winners as the winners themselves. The show really makes me happy to watch. Y’all I joke on Guy Fieri but he geninely is an amazing motherfucker.
