Bad, Cars, and Friends: poerobots: The first hint that something might be different this time came the morning after the shootings, from a Douglas High School sophomore named Sarah Chadwick, who informed the President of the United States, via his favorite medium, in words that quickly went viral, “I don’t want your condolences you fucking piece of shit, my friends and teachers were shot.”Their grief was raw, their rage palpable. Emma Gonzalez, a senior at Douglas, had the most searing indictment:“The people in the government who were voted into power are lying to us. And us kids seem to be the only ones who notice and are prepared to call B.S.“Companies, trying to make caricatures of the teen-agers nowadays, saying that all we are are self-involved and trend-obsessed and they hush us into submissions when our message doesn’t reach the ears of the nation, we are prepared to call B.S.“Politicians who sit in their gilded House and Senate seats funded by the N.R.A., telling us nothing could ever be done to prevent this: we call B.S.“They say that tougher gun laws do not prevent gun violence: we call B.S.”The crowd was now joining in.“They say a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun: we call B.S.“They say guns are just tools, like knives, and are as dangerous as cars: we call B.S.“They say that no laws would have been able to prevent the hundreds of senseless tragedies that occur: we call B.S.“That us kids don’t know what we’re talking about, that we’re too young to understand how the government works.” The crowd was now in a frenzy of anger and sadness, the people around me were tearing up as they yelled, “We call B.S.”And then, in unison, the people gathered began to chant, “Vote them out, vote them out, vote them out.”– Emily Witt, The New Yorker

Crazy, Girls, and Politics: Interestingly, the reasons men and women tend to get angry differ. A 15-year study of girls and women found that there are three primary causes of anger that are not the same in men: feelings of powerlessness, injustice, and other people's irresponsibility cygnaut: poesieplease: whistle-notes: coldasaslab: johnstamostimelessbeauty: Here’s something to chew on. about me.jpg honestly In case you wanna read the article this quote is from: http://rolereboot.org/culture-and-politics/details/2016-05-daughter-know-ok-angry/ Adaptable girls find socially acceptable ways to internalize or channel their discomfort and ire, sometimes at great personal cost. Passive aggressive behavior, anxiety, and depression are common effects. Sarcasm, apathy, and meanness have all been linked to suppressed rage. Troublesome behaviors, such as lying, skipping school, bullying other people, even being socially awkward are often signs that a teenager is dealing with anger that they are unable to name as anger. Girls, taught to ignore their anger, become disassociated from themselves. Anger is so successfully sublimated that girls lose the ability to understand what it feels and looks like. Is her heart racing? Does she feel flushed or shaky? Does she clench her jaws at night? Is she breaking out in hives? Does she cry for no reason? Laugh inappropriately during difficult conversations? Fly off the handle over something that seems inconsequential? You can see where I’m going here…those crazy girl hormones, right? Better to just think of it as a phase. For too many women, however, the phase never ends. It’s lives spent never expressing anger at all and believing that they don’t have the right or ability to do so without great risk.

— but I guess they’re going by high scores. While its true that most shooting sprees are committed by males, it is also truethat most child abuse, neglect, and murders are committed by females. Women who killed or attempted to kill children in the news, past 30 days (US): Florida woman shoots, kills her 2 teenage sons  Mother throws 1 year-old daughter under truck, kills her  California mom stabs her 3 daughters to death. all under 2 years old Mother attempts to kill her 3 teenage children  Mother kills her infant son by stabbing him to death  Woman kills 2 year-old girl, attempts to kill 10 year-old boy  Utah mom murders 6 newborns, keeps them in garage  Mother charged with trying to suffocate daughter  Woman charged for killing 8-month old baby  Women who killed or attempted to kill children in the news between January and April 2014 (US): Mother drowns both of her sons aged 3 and 6  Mother attempts to drown her 3 children in ocean  Utah mother shoots and kills two teen daughters, then herself  Mother suffocates 14 month old son, fails at attempted suicide  Woman babysitter murders 19 month old boy  Mom kills 7 month old daughter, blames Jesus  Woman operating illegal daycare responsible for 3 month old girl’s death, police find 14 children in her basement  Mom strangles 3 day old baby boy, discarded body in trashcan  Woman suffocates 2 year old girl of fiance, fakes sexual assault by unknown assailant to cover tracks  Mother charged with killing 2 year-old daughter  Mother of several children with history of violence murdered and buried 2 year-old daughter in shallow grave  Mother stabs and kills her 2 children in exorcism  Mother kills her teen son and daughter, self  Mother confesses to killing 10 year-old son  Mother tortures and kills 3 year-old son, burned genitals with lighter  This is only mid-year and I didn’t even include the reports of mothers killing their children from previous years or other countries.” The only thing “shocking” here is how far you’ve managed to cram your head up your own ass. This post is disturbingly long. REBLOG THE SHIT OF THIS. I AM SO FUCKING SICK OF PEOPLE TREATIG WOMEN LIKE INNOCENT GODDESS WHO NEVER DO ANYTHING WRONG WHILE THEY TREAT ALL MEN LIKE ANIMALS. I debated on whether or not to reblog this but damn those sources are a fucking feat and pretending that they dont exist erases the victims. once in a blue moon someone on tumblr will acknowledge anyone other than a man has done something wrong if your feminism involves overlooking crimes by women then it isn’t feminism if your feminism involves overlooking crimes by women then it isn’t feminism Its almost as if gender doesnt affect concepts such as our basic instincts (eg fight v flight), basic intelligence, and moral compasses.Hmm.

Ass, Creepy, and Cute: It's not right for a woman to read Soon she starts getting ideas. And thinking Gaston, YOu are positively primeval. adrianestpierre Gaston really is the most terrifying Disney villain because he could be anyone in the world justplainsomething Later he convinces the whole town to set up his wedding with the knowledge that the would-be bride would be thrown into it. Everyone finds his creepy-ass tactics as cute and "boys will be boys" esque. So yeah, he is terrifying beeftony Yeah, the truly scary thing about Beauty and the Beast isn't that Gaston exists, but that society fucking loves him. People who deride the movie by saying it's about Stockholm Syndrome are ignoring that it's actually about the various ways that truly decent people get othered by society. People don't trust the Beast because of the way he looks, which only feeds his anger issues and pushes him further away. Gaston isn't the only one who criticizes Belle for being bookish either, the whole town says there must be something wrong with her. And her father gets carted off to a mental asylum for being just a little eccentric Howard Ashman, who collaborated on the film's score and had a huge influence on the movie's story and themes, was a gay man who died of AlDS shortly after work on the film was completed. If you watch the film with that in mind, the message of it becomes clear. Gaston demonstrates that bullies are rewarded and beloved by society as long as they possess a certain set of characteristics, while nice people who don't are ostracized. The love story between Belle and the Beast is about them finding solace in each other after society rejects them both Notice how the Beast reacts when the whole town comes for him He's not angry, he's sad. He's tired. And he almost gives up because he has nothing to live for. But then he sees that Belle has come back for him, and suddenly he does. In the original fairy tale, the Beast asks Belle to marry him every night, and the spell is broken when she accepts. In the Disney movie, he waits for her to love him, becausee he cannot love himself. That's how badly being ostracized from society and told that you're a monster all your life can fuck with your head and make you stop seeing yourself as human Society rewards the bullies because we've been brought up to believe that their victims don't belong. That if someone doesn't fit in then they have to be put in their place, or destroyed. And this movie demonstrates that this line of thinking is wrong. It's so much deeper than a standard "be yourself" message, and that's why it's one of my favorite Disney movies Source: thomasfinchmackee 538,413 notes Oct 26th, 2017 No one falls to his death in the rain like this man.

America, Colin Kaepernick, and Fire: just-tea-thanks: venom1977: Take a moment to read this so you can fully understand. How it all started, and how we got here. (Unfortunately, the people that could learn something by reading this likely won’t bother). Did you know this? Aug 14, 2016- Colin Kaepernick “sits” for the national anthem…..and no one noticed. Aug 20th, 2016- Colin again “sits”, and again, no one noticed. Aug 26th, 2016- Colin “sits” and this time he is met with a level of vitriol unseen against an athlete. Even the future President of the United States took shots at him while on the campaign trail. Colin went on to explain his protest had NOTHING to with the military, but he felt it hard to stand for a flag that didn’t treat people of color fairly. Then on on Aug 30th, 2016 Nate Boyer, a former Army Green Beret turned NFL long snapper, penned an open letter to Colin in the Army Times. In it he expressed how Colin’s sitting affected him. Then a strange thing happened. Colin was able to do what most Americans to date have not… He listened. In his letter, Mr. Boyer writes: “I’m not judging you for standing up for what you believe in. It’s your inalienable right. What you are doing takes a lot of courage, and I’d be lying if I said I knew what it was like to walk around in your shoes. I’ve never had to deal with prejudice because of the color of my skin, and for me to say I can relate to what you’ve gone through is as ignorant as someone who’s never been in a combat zone telling me they understand what it’s like to go to war. Even though my initial reaction to your protest was one of anger, I’m trying to listen to what you’re saying and why you’re doing it.” Mr. Boyer goes on to write “There are already plenty people fighting fire with fire, and it’s just not helping anyone or anything. So I’m just going to keep listening, with an open mind. I look forward to the day you’re inspired to once again stand during our national anthem. I’ll be standing right there next to you.” Empathy and understanding was shown by Mr. Boyer………and Mr. Kaepernick reciprocated. Colin invited Nate to San Diego where the two had a 90 minute discussion and Nate proposed Colin kneel instead of sit. But why kneel? In a military funeral, after the flag is taken off the casket of the fallen military member, it is smartly folded 13 times and then presented to the parents, spouse or child of the fallen member by a fellow service member while KNEELING. The two decided that kneeling for the flag would symbolize his reverence for those that paid the ultimate sacrifice while still allowing Colin to peacefully protest the injustices he saw. Empathy, not zealotry under the guise of patriotism, is the only way meaningful discussion can be had. Mr. Kaepernick listened to all of you that say he disrespects the military and extended an olive branch to find a peace. When will America listen to him? We can all learn from this backstory. The truth often lies in the middle. Seek to learn the opposing side’s point. FUCKING THANK YOU! I HAVE BEEN SCREAMING THIS OUT TO CIVILIANS “OFFENDED” ON SMs BEHALF FOR WEEKS!

There were two parents and two chicks. One chick was healthy and strong. One was weak, and had a caw like something being strained. It sounded more like a rooster crowing and so my parents jokingly named him ‘Buck’.Well… months passed and Buck’s sibling was taught to fly. His parents focused on the sibling because the sibling was strong. The father stayed behind to try and teach Buck, but I saw him try to fly, fail, and crash to the floor. His father helped him back up into the tree. Every day, I would watch Buck from my window until one day I opened it and started talking to him. He was small and gangly and he couldn’t caw right. His feathers were all over the place and I felt a kinship. So I made a deal with him. I told him that if he could do it, if he could fly, then I could find the strength to get up. Well… near the end of the season, after talking with him every day, I finally saw him get out of the nest. He went to the edge of his branch, braced himself, and jumped… and just before he hit the ground, he soared back up into the sky. I cheered harder than I ever had before. That winter, Buck left the area. I was crestfallen. I felt like I’d lost a friend. But I was so damn proud of him.  Cut to the next spring? I’m walking up the driveway one day when suddenly I hear a sound… a broken caw. I look up, and Buck is sitting in a tree above my head. He stared at me and puffed his feathers, then hopped down in front of me and cawed again. I was so damn thrilled, and I told him how proud I was of him. He ruffled his feathers and then soared off into his old tree.  That summer? I heard two broken caws. One from Buck… and one from his chick. Cut to ten years later? We have a family of crows who all have a very distinct caw and they come here and spend every spring, summer, and fall on our property. Buck still greets me every spring. that last reply made me wanna cry. that’s so beautiful. Don’t forget the Russian Crow SLEDDING DOWN A ROOF not once, but twice.  this one morning i kept hearing really loud caws, i remember it was like 5am, LIKE REALLY LOUD AND ANNOYING AND AGGRESSIVE, so loud that i could hear it through a closed window, and i eventually went outside to check it out. there was a crow on my front lawn, it had an injury on its head and couldn’t fly and there were two other crows circling right above it, and they were cawing like mad.  i tried to get close and take a better look and one of them dived super low and tried to attack me. so i went back in the house and chopped some sliced raw meat and tossed it at him from a distance. a few more times later, very soon after, they could tell i was trying to help, and did not attack me. i was “allowed” to walk up close and pick him up, he couldn’t drink water properly so i had to dip my finger in a bowl and stick it in his mouth. i did this few times a day and it went on for about a week before he disappeared, i thought he recovered and left, but he came back the next day and lands on me, and i see him around the block quite often, and he would come sit on my shoulder for a few minutes and then fly away again. i feel like i’ve adopted a son. Best birbs !! your son is Beautiful and Strong every time I see this post it has different crow stories and every time I reblog it again because all crow stories are good stories Such little cutie pies 😍 not to be cliché but crows are 100% my favorite birbs

Bad, Definitely, and Fucking: eve peyser @evepeyser Follow silicon valley would be a different place if the thinkfluencing CEOs had ever taken a bus, even just one time Lyft Shuttle addresses both those issues by having you walk to a nearby pick up spot, get in a shared car that follows a pre-designated route, and drops you (and everyone else) off at the same stop. So, basically, you share a ride with other people (most of the time) so your ride price is lower, but you know exactly how long the ride will take because you're on a pre-designated route. John Manoochehri @jmanooch Replying to @paleofuture I agree, but then why didn't cities invent this if it's so obvious? 3m Matt Novak @paleofuture Replying to @jmanooch I honestly can't tell if you're joking 2m John Manoochehri Replying to @paleofuture I am definitely not joking. You do righteous anger well but explain why transit authorities didn't set this up? 22aa @hupperts 7h Replying to @hupperts what if we took lyft shuttle, and moved it underground, and dug out special tunnels for them to drive around in underground sa @hupperts 7h too bad no city has invented this or anything remotely similar to it at all Hell's RainbowTM @GCraftyCouture 7h What even is mass transit? sa @hupperts 7h nothing without the lyft brand 21

Birthday, Club, and Dad: Handle w ith care SON his mind to imsobadatnicknames: ftm-liamxezra: This is my dad on my 21st birthday. It has taken him 21 years to call me his son. It’s taken 21 years for him to tell me that he’s proud of me. It’s taken him 21 years to tell me that he loves me. It’s taken us 21 years to love each other. When I first came out as transgender my dad didn’t understand and so he reacted with hatred, anger and disappointment. He shamed me for my gender expression and we had to cut off communication. But after my chest surgery in December of 2016 he finally opened his eyes to how happy I finally was. He made the decision to attend rehab and therapy to better himself and focus on his own mental health issues in order to restore our relationship. Since my surgery he’s been nothing but loving and supportive. He always calls me Liam and uses the correct pronouns. He calls me his son and we’re more connected now then ever. In these photos I’m opening a birthday present from my dad. His present was a black ball cap that read “The Jet-Lag Club”. He explained that it was a bar in Japan only for international flight crews. A bar that his father had gone to and he had frequently gone to as well. He got the hat from being such a frequent customer, but it has closed since and now there is no possible was to get one of these hats. He told me it’s his most prized possession. And then he handed it to me and said… “It’s yours now. It’s tradition, from father to son.” Remember that people can grow and change. They can accept and love even after hatred emerged. Remember that people can see who you are. Don’t give up just yet, things can change and they can get better. @xxdarthvaderofmiddle-earthxx
