Anaconda, Betty White, and Chris Evans: bundibird: wrangletangle: stevenrogered: Chris Evans helps Regina King up the stairs to the stage after her Oscars win Okay listen up, all you dudes out there! It’s time for some life lessons from Chris Evans. Wonder why women are fine with this when he does it, but they find you opening a car door or offering to carry stuff for them annoying? Well, wonder no more! It works like this: A large number of women have had to learn how to dodge and swerve and sometimes even slap away men’s hands from the time they hit puberty - and sometimes before. Ladies, cis and trans both, are unfortunately experienced at being groped, poked, prodded, “helped”, and otherwise humiliated and threatened by men. Then also there’s the condescending attitude that of course we need a man’s help, and we should be grateful he offered it. No thanks. Chris is doing something very different here, and you’ll see it in similar video clips of him at other events. You can read his mental process in his body language. He starts with just clapping and congratulating. He offers nothing until there is a need, which doesn’t happen here until Regina’s shoe gets caught on her dress. Since women have literally tripped up the stairs at this ceremony several times over the years (because the shoe and clothing requirements are ridiculous), it is reasonable at this stage to think that my-shoe-caught-on-my-dress is a problem that actually needs to be addressed. This is when Chris offers. How he offers matters. He starts with an open hand toward her, but this is a big no-no. Open hands are a red flag. Open hands grope and grab and shove. He quickly corrects by flipping his arm over and offering his forearm instead. This makes it her choice whether to grab on or ignore him. She doesn’t have to contend with a potentially threatening hand while she’s also contending with her dress. He also bends down a bit to do this. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Chris is kind of a tall, beefy guy. Guys like that can be a bit intimidating without meaning to be, at least when they’re up close. Also, his arm is a bit too high to be useful to her if he stays at his full height. So he bends down. This is even more visible in the video from him doing this for Betty White at the 2015 Oscars, because she’s shorter than Regina, I guess. He offers his arm for exactly as long as she leans on it. When she lets go, he steps back. This is a guy who isn’t interested in showing off how much she needs his help. He’s just interested in helping, and when he’s not needed, he’s done. He goes back to sit down. He doesn’t hover. Also, Regina King knows who Chris Evans is. His behavior at work thus far has certainly made it into the rumor mill, thus factoring into whether she accepts help from him. Is he a dudebro or jerk to women at work? That doesn’t appear to be the case. Women are not helpless. Compared to men, our clothes are more often obstacles to getting where we need to go safely and with our dignity intact, but conversely, we’ve also learned to deal with that better than most men have. It’s not that we never need or want help; like all people, we do sometimes need a hand. It’s just that “some kinds of help are the kinds of help we all could do without.” If you are offering help to a woman, first make sure she actually appears to be struggling. Second, make yourself as unthreatening as possible and let her do any touching, not the other way around. Third, make sure she can refuse without any consequences. And fourth, back off as soon as she doesn’t need you anymore and let the moment go. I hadn’t even registered why exactly it was that he was so unthreatening in this and the Betty White assistance incidents, but you’re right. It’s all in the way he helps. It’s not that this is unthreatening behaviour “because he’s Chris Evans” – its because his body language is genuinely unthreatening and merely helpful. A+ analysis – I hadn’t even registered the details of why and how this behaviour was 100% ok, while from another man (who probably would have gone about it differentky) it might not have been

Aladdin, Candy, and Children: Toy Story: Andy's Parents Are Divorcing You never see the Dad They are moving (to a smaller house no less The Mom's wedding ring is off in the shot where she picks up the Burz box -Andy is introverted and emotionally attached to inanimate, masculine figures -They get a puppy (surprisingly common for divorcees) None of the babies in "Rugrats" actually exist, but they are all instead figments of Angelica's imagination, as result of her parent's negligence. Chuckie died with his mother, which explains how much of a nervous wreck his father is. Tommy was a stillborn baby, which explains why his father, Stu, was always in the basement making toys for the son he never had. Finally, the DeVilles had an abortion To compensate for not knowing the sex of the baby, Angelica invented twins in her head, one boy, one girl Willy Wonka knew those children would die in his factory, After Augustus gets sucked up the shoot, they all hop on board the boat through the tunnel of doom. The boat doesn't have two extra vacant seats thoughh Iit was designed with prior knowledge that they would lose two participants before that point. Later they drive a creanm spewing car with only four seats. Did they have another car waiting in the garage in case the others made it? Of course not. Willy Wonka uses children to make candy There's a scene in "Aladdin where Genie calls Aladdin's clothes 0 3rd century. However, as we all know, the Genie was locked inside a lamp for the past 10,000 years, meaning that there is no way he could have known what the 3rd century was like. This means that Aladdin actually takes place in the FUTURE, in at least 10,300 AD. The movie itself is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, one where only some Arabic culture has survived. The things called "magic" are actually just some of the technological marvels left behind by the previous civilization. These include flying carpets and genetically engineered parrots which can comprehend human speech instead of just mimicking it How else could the Genie do impressions of ancient, long-dead celebrities like Groucho Marx, Jack Nicholson, etc? Courage the Cowardly Dog is actually a normal dog and he sees the world through a dog's eyes. All the villains in the show are just normal people, but to a little dog they seem scary. Bodies , Climbing, and Deer: Zombie apocalypses are curiously lacking a large array ofent that could equipment that could neatly control the situation "But we can't build walls to contain them!" 75 Moves by truck, train or boat. Ridiculously common. And see those holes on the bottom? Mobile by forklift. Also, HEAVY, even when empty they're in the tons. If you had some warning you could string these things end to end for miles and human bodies can't move them. Plus they're nice and wide so you can comfortably walk on top of them for patrols. "But we don't have easy ways to kill them!" Put the shotgun down you fucking idiot. No tires to pop. Heavy and slow but inevitable. Climbing required to enter and thus, relatively zombie proof, especially if you spend like an hour to protect the glass. A lot of large farming equipment can destroy Want to guess what it'd do to a decaying human bady? It's not pretty Now I know what you're thinking. Merely lattening them with common construction equipment or farming gear isn't enough How about a tree trimmer that can mulch a tree top to bottom in nothing flat? OM NOM NOM NOM. "But we need ways to move a lot of people that zombies can't stop!" BEEP BEEP MOTHERFUCKER. Deer don't hawe a chance and neither does a zombie. But that's not good enough!" NOW it's time to call our friend the military because this ride stops for no one. Do I need to keep going or is it clear the movies are bullshit yet? Seriously a dozen prepared people with heavy equipment licenses could clear an entire street of zombies AND powerwash it after. Country folk can survive The tumblr solution to the zombie apocalypse

Cute, Nerd, and Yeah: fanboyingduringteatime stephendann spookyhella casually call people "human" to unsettle them and make them question what sort of being you are re psychoanalyze me#and i turned on him and hissed dont presume patably baffled and terrified an wa and i felt powerful and celestial ll was well Oooh! I have done this a few times One of my favorites is when a religious converter type comes up to me when I'm sitting around. Because they usually have a cold open like "The Lord has called me to you" replying with "Indeed He Has My Child, for He is Pleased With Your Work, and wishes you to know that you are known to Him". Throw inflections into the wrong points in words, but do it with a very calming presence. After all, you're the SMS from the afterlife, you're merely the vessel of the vassal, and nothing scuttles their plans faster than trying to have to process that this very calmly spoken person who InflEcts their words JuiSSSSt quite not riGHt is acknowleding them in an uncomforting way Once they leave, watch them until something blocks the line of site, and then move like lightning to not be there when they glance back. (This is why there are probably some really good rumours in Adelaide about me) I remember this guy once who tried to dare me (the nerd of the group) to do something or another to prove my "manliness" I calmly replied "How cute of you to think I'm human..." and kept walking He stared at me in confusion and when I was several meters away I heard him say "yeah...good point." Anaconda, Animals, and Children: This is his Jokers first day on the job, and he's being such a good bay. Donald W. Cook is a Los Angeles attorney with decades of experience bringing lawsuits over police dog bites- and mostly losing. He blames what he calls "The Rin Tin Tin Effect"-ures think of poice dogs as nobe, and have trouble vaualzing how violant thay can be during an anst Policel use terms like 'apprehend' and restrain,' to try to portray it as a very antisaptic event," Cook says. "But you look at the video and the dog s chewing away on his leg and mutilating him Cook says the proliferation of smart phones and body cameras is capturing a reality that used to be lost on juries. "If it's a good video," he says, "it makes a case much easier to prevail on The new generation of videos is capturing scenes of K9 anrests that ar bloodier and more violent than imagined by the public. An NPR examination of police videos shows some officers using biting dogs against people who show minimal threat to officers, and a degree of violence that would be unacceptable it inflicted directly by the officers In fact, in many videos, the release of a dog appears to escalate the violence of an arrest You just look at the dog as the source of pain and you do everything you can to addiress that pain," says Seth Stoughton. He's a former police officer, now an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of South Carolina who studies police use of force. Those shouted commands- you'll deal with that later, when the pain stops. And yet suspects who kick and try to shake the dog off are often accused of resisting arrest. NPR (November 20, 2017 i don't care what this dog in particular is being trained to do. furthering the idea that police dogs are somehow cute or good directly contributes to injustice and the perceived acceptability of police violence My aunt rescues and rehabilitates geman shepherds, and the vast majority are failad police dogs. The rehab process for these dogs is intense. They are trained to be hyper vigilant and to resort to violence. They are aften is worse condition than formerly abused animals I spent a summer training one of these balls of anxioty. She was too fast and strong for my aunt to train her, so l did it. The biggest hurdle was getting her out of the mindset that biting someone gets her a treat. I had to let her bite my arm, forcible breek the hold, and kennel her all without giving her a response because these dogs are trained to equate someone screaming at them as Go Time. By letting her attack me and showing her that I was stronger than her and then not allowing her to play with the other dogs was what finally got her to stop attacking whenever she heard a loud nolse or was surprised or just felt like it She still had to be homed in a gun-free, pet-free, child-free home because of the sheer anxiety she was bred for. These dogs are not cute, they are horribly esbiengender My mom did the exact opposite of what the person above is talking about, she was involved in training the dogs not to restrain themselves when attacking. She was 18-21 and they had her wear this thick glove and then provoke the dogs onto biting her anm. She sald thay didn't naturally want to be very aggressive tawards a 100 pound, 83" girl, which is the size my mother was at the time. She has scars on her arm from getting time to bite so hard it broke the protective gloves I remember thinking that was cool as a kid. Now I just find it hoifying that they were teaching dogs to use brutal force against... children. My mother may have been a young adult at the time but most people are 100 pounds and 53* as teenagers, not adults What are short, skinny teens even doing that warrants the use of dogs? Can a grown man with a gun really not subdue someone that size on their own?7 It's animal abuse used to further police brutality Yeah. This pup isn't cute, it's being trained to by exceptionally dangerous. If he fails (and chances are he will he will be in for a very kong recovery. If he passes then when he gets older and can no longer work, they will merely outhanize him since rehablitating him at ton will be too much work These dogs are exceedingly dangerous, suiffered years of abuse at the hands of their handlers and trainers, and are quite simply not 'adorable', oven 'on their first day' secing as we know what abuses they are in for. Thay're trained to do as much damage as possible, even against peaple who are no threat to begin with. And if the person tries to fight the dog off, as any person might, the dog is trained to escalate. If the person screams, struggles, or attempts to defend themselves, the dog is trained to escalate Read that again.
