Advice, Being Alone, and Amazon: Positive feedback makes me write more. And writing more makes me a better writer. I've received a fair amount of negative comments, and EVERY one of them has simply made me give up writing for a while. Sometimes months Anonymous asked: Honestly I appreclate what you've been saying about unsolicited comments an fic b/c when I was small & first started writing fic - I didn't speak English very well my 1st language ls Hawaiian Pidgin which uses some English words but they're spelled VERY differently & the grammar is VERY different & anyways I was lke a tiny child getting roasted by grown adults In the comments of my fic for spellingigrammar & it wasn't helpful It just made me an Insecure writer.I dan't write fic anymore i have literally never had good I once had a "concritter" on ff.net fail to understand the difference between Amazon reviews and fanfic reviews/comments. This is pretty Rich actually, because l have had my life destroyed by online Critics on stories I just posted for fun Thank you, Kedreeva. This is also how I feel when my partner tries to give me concrit on my Overwatch game play. I didn't ask you for concrit. Please leave me alone. This isn’t even all of them, this is just from a FEW posts on the subject. Read through these, and then look me in the eyes and say you’re ~helping writers~ by leaving that criticizing comment on someone’s fic when they didn’t ask you to. You’re hurting or, at best, annoying us. You’re hurting fandom. You’re not helping us.

Community, Ignorant, and Journey: hazeldomain: theclockworkzombie: toastoat: newwavenova: secretlesbians: Gustave Courbet, Le Sommeil,1866. Le Sommeil [The Sleepers], which depicts two women entwined in a post-coital embrace, caused a stir when it was first shown in the 1870s. The police were called in, and the painting was not shown again until the 1980s. But its brief showing had an influence on a number of contemporary artists, and helped challenge the taboos associated with lesbian relationships. For modern audiences it’s a good reminder that people in the 19th century were not ignorant of lesbian relationships, as we tend to believe. And it’s pretty damn sexy, don’t you think? They called the police on this lesbian painting. The best part is, the lesbian embrace isn’t even the biggest thing that made the painting so controversial, it was the art style. People in the artistic community at the time were wholly familiar with sapphic relationships being portrayed in art, but were used to these scenes being portrayed in the ‘academic art’ style, which consisted of smooth, simplistic, idealised versions of the nude female form. This often went hand in hand with the depiction of Roman Greek allegories to illustrate certain ideals (think Cabanel’s Birth of Venus). Courbet’s journey into realism was met by heavy critique from the academic movement, as the women he painted were, well, more realistic. Leaving in details such as the rolls of fat around the ribs acted as a blunt reminder to the audience that these were not euphoric goddesses caressing in ecstasy, but ordinary women having a nap together after making love. Other realist paintings suffered the same controversy, Manet’s Olympia is a perfect example, where the problem was not that the painting depicted a nude woman in an erotic pose, but the fact that she was just an ordinary courtesan, given an identity portrayed in a place of power control. Realism humanized the female form in art, removed it from its previous role as a representation of the ideal. So what disgusted people about the painting wasn’t so much that Le Sommeil depicted two women, but rather that it depicted two ‘real’ women. Artist: So I painted a couple of lesbians in bed.  Men: Niiiiiiiiiice Artist: They have cellulite Men: I AM CALLING THE POLICE

Apparently, Beautiful, and Confused: Hi Morning Your holiday Monday off to a good start? Monday 09:15 Yes nice what r u looking for on tinder Monday 12:13 Nothing specific. I'm not around for long Monday 18:15 Ok Today 06:20 I feel the hunger on foreign skin, wants to absorb the scent of foreign skin, I want to drill my teeth into your flesh Draw marks on my skin with my nails. I want to feel how you give yourself to me, how you become soft and yielding, deliver you, just feel, just give, until you melt helpless in my arms I want to drink you empty like a sweet fruit, absorb your pain and moans into me Take heat and give it. Playing on your nipples, until your moans penetrate my ear like a beautiful melody. l want to touch, dominate, explore to the last corner of your soul And then start over. Slowly. Persevering. Relish I let your soul slip through my hands, shape and encourage you Protect you. I will kiss your tears away. Find you nice. Over and over again Today 07:49 Today 08:21 ....huh? When was ur last sex Today 09:32 I'm very confused about the turn this conversation has taken I thought you were looking for feedback on your....poetry. Or whatever that was Did u read the poem? I did. Are you looking for constructive feedback? Sent GIF Type a message... I did. Are you looking for constructive feedback? I am lookin for a feedback about what u feel it u like it Well, some of your metaphors are a little off. l'd also look at breaking out the old thesaurus the use of 'foreign skin' twice in two lines and 'moans' twice in one stanza could do with changing up. Also, beginning stanzas 2,3 & 4 with 'l want' is a good device, but you need to carry it through to the rest of the stanzas for it to really be effective Also very unsure on the find you nice' line All together it's a good beginning effort Sent GIF Type a message.. Do u like this type of sex Surely the sex in the poem is a metaphor for death though? It's not intended to be read literally as a sex act Do u read the dominant part? Yes, I want to touch [... last corner of your soul' - death is the ultimate dominator, and through the end of life manages to reach through to the very ends of our souls There is a feeling of rebirth, new life in this stanza though 'and then start over [...] persevering Maybe this is more about loss and finding oneself again than it is about death Sent GIF Type a message.. Do u like domiant men? The world is full of dominant men and it doesn't seem to be working so well for it Sent Type a message GIF .. Apparently not ready for the literary critique

Be Like, Complex, and Fail: renehta: Rick Sanchez, Don Draper, and BoJack Horseman are three examples of a popular male character trope: the intelligent, talented, toxic, disconnected, detached man who fails to connect with others and is consistently and wildly self destructive in his quest to fill an emotional void with anything but human connection. The problem with this character archetype lies with the fans, insofar as a lot of people, a specific subset of men in particular, miss the entire point of the character. They’re so easily sucked in by the flashy veneer of masculine bravado on the surface of these damaged characters that they fail to understand why the characters are presented this way: you do not want to be like them. You are not supposed to identify with them positively or see them as someone to emulate, you are not supposed to sincerely root for them to win most of the time, they are antiheros. In spite of being the protagonist Rick, Don, and BoJack are almost never the “good guy” in any given scenario, they are almost always selfishly motivated, and explicitly harming innocent people for their own gain. The rare moments of redemption usually don’t last. Idolizing and lionizing these characters as an ideal or something to aspire to entirely misses the concept of the characters, and worse, celebrates behavior that is explicitly shown to be toxic and harmful. If you identify as “a Rick” then the entire concept of the show has gone completely over your head. The creators of all three shows position their characters clearly, and get more blatant with each season. To be clear, seeing negative traits in yourself and identifying with the struggle to improve them, or wanting these characters to change and grow is not what we’re referring to here, but rather the explicit support for and celebration of these characters as they are. This isn’t even a critique of the characters themselves. All of whom are well written, interesting, and complex, but rather it’s a critique of how we see and interpret these characters. This archetype applies to many characters like Sherlock, House, and Archer, and is also mirrored in family members like Beth to Rick or Mycroft to Sherlock. Liking these characters is fine. Enjoying them ia fine, but acknowledge what they are.

Asian, Children, and Crazy: There is all of this hope in their eyes, the type of hope that gives you reason for living, the type of hope that makes you want to tell your friends... When I look into their eyes their joy is passed on to me, and I really need it, because as I read more, and as I travel more I realise how crazy men can be. European, African, Chinese, Indian, Asian, indigenous, it seldom matters, when it comes to human males, there is a real level of evil, they that have carried out through the history of ages, an evil that has come to rule this earth. I want love to win, I really do... but we still celebrate violence and power so much. (Not talking about Black power, which is a resistance to racism and white supremacist ideologies, I'm just talking about greed and unnecessary power, dictatorships and tyranny) I don't critique systems because I hate life, I question them because I love life. I want us all to do better. I ask myself in everything I do, will this benefit humanity? Am I improving the planet..? Many do nothing they are just existing, many are barely surviving, there are many good humans and some are trying to destroy everything for profit. I think the people reading this are the people who are the forces of good. Otherwise you wouldn't put up with all of my hopeful ideas and resistance against brutalities, murder, rape etc. The only way that things will change is if we change our lifestyles. The broken systems can only run with us conforming and fuelling them. There are so many problems caused by human males, but at the same time there are so many solutions. I am trying to be part of the solutions and on my darkest days, which we all have, I scroll through pictures and videos of the children. Hoping that I am not only able to provide for them and protect them, but raise them to be a part of our future solutions. This keeps me on the path, there are only two options for me now, either I create new systems and raise the vibration of humanity or I die trying. Either way this is now my life's purpose ❤️🖤💚

There is all of this hope in their eyes, the type of hope that gives you reason for living, the type of hope that makes you want to tell you...

Being Alone, Anaconda, and Children: baby-dahlia: Here's the thing about being pro choice that people don't get... You don't have to morally agree with abortion to be pro choice. That's why it's not called pro abortion. It's an understanding that you can't make that choice for someone else and they have full control over that not you. It's pro l'm not the boss of everyone else. This is important. my exact feelings on this subject. This is a good thing to send people who think pro choice means you love abortions and think everyone should get abortions. Pro choice people are not "baby killers," we are not eagerly waiting for the next abortion to happen. Abortions are not fun, and the decision to have an abortion isn't one people look forward to making, no matter how "feminist" they are. Some people agonize over the decision, and for some people, it's an obvious decision to make because they know they cannot (financially or otherwise) raise a child. For a more ~advanced critique~ of this post, there shouldn't be a "moral agreement" with abortion because it's not a one-size-fits-all case. What I mean by that is, you can't say you're against abortions when you don't know the circumstances leading pregnant people to get abortions. It is easy to sit on a high horse and say "I would never have an abortion because I can afford to raise a child healthily, and my mom can help me raise the child while i go to college." What if you have no support, you can barely keep yourself fed and housed despite working 3 jobs, and you know you couldn't raise a child adequately (and don't say adoption because there are currently over 100,000 foster children eligible for & waiting to be adopted in the US alone- and children who are not white, who are disabled, etc get adopted way less than white able bodied children). Or what if you could support a child but you're not ready to? There's a perception that every pregnant person wants to have a child & immediately falls in love with their baby when they give birth; that is not always true. You raising a child you don't want is not a healthy environment for a child to be in. Basically, it's not possible to define a moral line here- if you're ok with abortion if the pregnant person is raped, but not if the person had consensual sex with their partner, then you're still saying "I don't want you to have control over your own body, BUT if you're raped then I guess you can have control this one time." Having the right to decide what YOU do with YOUR OWN BODY should not be conditional.

This is a good thing to send people who think pro choice means you love abortions and think everyone should get abortions. Pro choice people...
