Chef Nol @UR_SO_ COOL_NOL A woman's idea of "Let just be friends" is "Hey listen to all my problems and keep me company...while I have sex with someone else." 9/14/17, 9:26 AM 115 Retweets 168 Likes Tweet your reply 2 astronomically-androngynous: sounddesignerjeans: princess-mint: alarajrogers: niambi: I’m???? Oh my God this actually explains so much. So there’s a known thing in the study of human psychology/sociology/what-have-you where men are known to, on average, rely entirely on their female romantic partner for emotional support. Bonding with other men is done at a more superficial level involving fun group activities and conversations about general subjects but rarely involves actually leaning on other men or being really honest about emotional problems. Men use alcohol to be able to lower their inhibitions enough to expose themselves emotionally to other men, but if you can’t get emotional support unless you’re drunk, you have a problem. So men need to have a woman in their lives to have anyone they can share their emotional needs and vulnerabilities with. However, since women are not socialized to fear sharing these things, women’s friendships with other women are heavily based on emotional support. If you can’t lean on her when you’re weak, she’s not your friend. To women, what friendship is is someone who listens to all your problems and keeps you company. So this disconnect men are suffering from is that they think that only a person who is having sex with you will share their emotions and expect support. That’s what a romantic partner does. But women think that’s what a friend does. So women do it for their romantic partners and their friends and expect a male friend to do it for them the same as a female friend would. This fools the male friend into thinking there must be something romantic there when there is not. This here is an example of patriarchy hurting everyone. Women have a much healthier approach to emotional support – they don’t die when widowed at nearly the rate that widowers die and they don’t suffer emotionally from divorce nearly as much even though they suffer much more financially, and this is because women don’t put all their emotional needs on one person. Women have a support network of other women. But men are trained to never share their emotions except with their wife or girlfriend, because that isn’t manly. So when she dies or leaves them, they have no one to turn to to help with the grief, causing higher rates of death, depression, alcoholism and general awfulness upon losing a romantic partner. So men suffer terribly from being trained in this way. But women suffer in that they can’t reach out to male friends for basic friendship. I am not sure any man can comprehend how heartbreaking it is to realize that a guy you thought was your friend was really just trying to get into your pants. Friendship is real. It’s emotional, it’s important to us. We lean on our friends. Knowing that your friend was secretly seething with resentment when you were opening up to him and sharing your problems because he felt like he shouldn’t have to do that kind of emotional work for anyone not having sex with him, and he felt used by you for that reason, is horrible. And the fact that men can’t share emotional needs with other men means that lots of men who can’t get a girlfriend end up turning into horrible misogynistic people who think the world owes them the love of a woman, like it’s a commodity… because no one will die without sex. Masturbation exists. But people will die or suffer deep emotional trauma from having no one they can lean on emotionally. And men who are suffering deep emotional trauma, and have been trained to channel their personal trauma into rage because they can’t share it, become mass shooters, or rapists, or simply horrible misogynists. The only way to fix this is to teach boys it’s okay to love your friends. It’s okay to share your needs and your problems with your friends. It’s okay to lean on your friends, to hug your friends, to be weak with your friends. Only if this is okay for boys to do with their male friends can this problem be resolved… so men, this one’s on you. Women can’t fix this for you; you don’t listen to us about matters of what it means to be a man. Fix your own shit and teach your brothers and sons and friends that this is okay, or everyone suffers. The next time a guy says, “What? You don't want to be my friend?” I’ll text him this and then ask if he really wants to be friends or just have another potential girlfriend. y’all I am living for these analyses where the new way to fight the patriarchy is to teach men to love each other and themselves Im a communication student and can confirm the above is absolutely 100% accurate and it’s called agentic vs communal friendship theorized by Steven McCornack

Dope, Food, and Fucking: hipsterkittypostingteenybopper Re: Purge. If everything was legal for like twenty-four hours I'd start a communal garden. This is barely even hyperbole. I would legit start a communal garden with whoever wanted to join me. I think that would be fucking dope. derinthemadscientist Rewrite of The Purge where, for 24 hours, people hurriedly complete all those renovations and projects that the council forbids. Helen, leader of the PTA, laughs maniacally as she tears grass from her lawn with a pitchfork, her thirteen- year-old daughter Emily's arms red with mud as she wades through the carnage, planting thyme. Jack and Mitch have left their friendly smiles behind at the RSL; today their faces show only grim determination as they methodically shovel gravel into potholes and pour bitumen. The local biker gang, gathered on the corner, are the most rambunctious of the mischief-makers, whooping and hollering as nail guns are driven into plywood, assembling miniature by-the-road shelters for the homeless to rest on cold nights. Their noise covers the sounds of Katy and Sam moving from street to street with their trolleys, picking up unsold or unwanted food from houses and restaurants to give to the hungry without fear of taxation or food safety reprisals. They're young, and still scared of being caught But there's no one to catch them. Not tonight dreamerinsilico ...You know you live in a dystopian capitalist hellscape when.... How would that be exactly? Do you know how much the “rich” are taxed today?

Lemme put it to you this way: I work a near-minimum wage job at 12% income tax. This is where a lot of Americans are these days. That tax money accounts for approximately 20% of the tax money for the US government. The other 80%? The top 1% of Americans paying an average of 20%, give or take. And yet while I struggle to pay rent, keep my car insured and running, and put food on the table, the top 1% have four houses, a dozen sports cars, private islands, yachts, and private jets, all of which they pay to own and maintain. And yet they still have more money left over than it is humanly possible to spend unless you want to buy your own country.

So when I say “tax the rich the way they should be taxed” I mean “tax them in such a way that they’re still able to live their extravagant lifestyles but I wouldn’t have had to bury my dad because we couldn’t pay his damn hospital bills”. And if you want sources for any of this, do a quick Google search. The first three or four links should be very informative for you.

Where’s that comic of Bernie sanders kicking down a sandcastle and saying “stop having a better sandcastle than me”

I’m sorry for your current situation, I really am, but it’s not like it’s the rich’s fault

Yeah but the rich have enough money that raising their taxes won’t affect them but it’ll affect the rest of the country in a positive way

Also, trump doesn’t even need negative reasoning, he’s just a straight up asshole with no filter that will probably get us in trouble with other countries

So, what’s an acceptable amount the “rich” should pay of their own earnings and what income range should be considered for that particular bracket? What, in your opinion, is “enough money” exactly?

We have lost track of what is public and what is private.
Natural resources are public, belonging to all the people of the countries possessing the resources.

We, the people, own the oil, gas, natural gas, coal, air, water and timber in America, not the Koch Brothers, Weyerhauser, Georgia Pacific, Chevron, Exxon, Peabody, Coca Cola or any private corporation. The private industries, under Roosevelt and Eisenhower, paid 94% tax on their income as the cost of the product owned by the american people. They kept 6% of the profit for themselves as a royalty payment for extracting our resources and selling them back to us. Rockefeller, paying 94% tax, was still the richest man in the world and a philanthropist. Our government used the taxes to provide health, education, job training, low cost home loans and retirement benefits for our citizens. The graduated income tax (those with the greatest resources and incomes paid the most, those in the lower income levels paid the least) helped America become the richest nation with the largest middle class on earth. Until..

Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Dick Cheney and the Bushes cut the taxes on the richest among us, and the corporations they owned, to little or nothing, foisting upon us the ludicrous idea a few people, including themselves, should own our natural resources in a scheme they call “Privatization”.

After Kissenger/Cheney’s “Endless War” scheme, Privatization became the worst of their legacy. They put the fortune in tax dollars we paid for their phony “defense contracts”, into their offshore and Swiss Bank Accounts, starving our treasury to the tune of 17 Trillion Dollars and virtually eliminating the middle class. Cheney’s company, Halliburton, profits from his term as VP and President* Cheney says “Debt Doesn’t Matter”. It Doesn’t..To him. He got the money. His intention is to foist the “debt” onto you and me. Best we forgive the debt and move on.

What is Private? Restaurants, Grocery Stores, Hardware Stores, Resorts, Casino’s, laundries, Dry Cleaners, Liquor stores, retail outlets, auto manufacturing, etc. Anything that does not use public resources as its product. Should Jails be privately owned? No, they get all their money from the our public judicial system. Neither you, nor I, nor Corrections Corporation of America, have any right to own and operate prisons for profit.

Should you and I be able to have our own Private armies and the weapons of war? No. Neither you, I or Blackwater/XE, has any right to own armies or the weapons of war. That is a public function. Private “war contractors”, and their “for profit” mercenary soldiers, should be eliminated forever by cancelling and never reissuing all their “contracts”.

Our government of by and for the people,“ Democracy”, is a good thing.
This co-oped government of by and for corporations, “Fascism”, is a bad thing and should be eliminated in the next budget and the 2016 election.

There’s a pathetic excuse in this country that hard work and merit equates success.
