financialeconomicsexplainedus: POSTED:  10/09/2019 The Stock market, as well as the overall economy, moves between a boom and bust cycle - it basically moves between growth and value investing - it is that simple! After a recession, when the whole stock market cycle, the business cycle and the credit cycle have gone bust:  interest rates are low to super low, the Fed is trying to stimulate the economy - Investors start to look at Growth Stocks/ Growth-Oriented Mutual Funds (a growth stock is one that generally averages about 20% growth per year along with the technology sectors like semiconductors and Biotech/Pharmaceuticals)….. Small Cap stocks/Mutual Funds also take off - money is cheap to borrow to fund R&D, marketing expenses, etc. But Value stocks/Mutual Funds also start to rise:  A RISING TIDE LIFTS ALL BOATS - was the 90′s moniker! Hence, the market starts to take off:  as markets start to heat up and the economy starts to OVERHEAT - the Fed starts to raise interests to COOL the market down - like in November 1999 - the Fed had raised the Federal Funds rate way up to a whopping 6.5% to try and cool down the economy and to put a damper on the Dot.com Boom - fueled stock market!  Those who forget history do not recall that the yield curve inverted in 1998; the Federal Funds rate was too high in 1999 (FYI side note:  the “average” technology mutual fund in 1999 was up 100%!!!!!!!!!!!! by years’ end)  Guess what?  The whole market crashed in April 2000! So from that time to about mid-June 2000 - the market went nowhere!   Value investing and investing in Bonds (like Intermediate and Long-term Treasury Bonds (backed by the full faith of the US government) went up from June 2000 to December 2000 (Berkshire Hathaway A shares went up over 85% that year within 6 months!).  Warren Buffet?  Look him up!  Treasuries also did extremely well - like one “Talking Head” has been quoted as saying - “There is always a Bull Market somewhere”…… And the whole process starts over again from a boom to bust cycle, about every 10 years or so……the Real Estate Market moves in a boom to bust cycle about every 7 years…. MY OPINION – stay the course with Value-oriented Investing:  it works in both up and down markets!  A mix of Value Mutual Funds and Treasury Bond Mutual Funds weather ALL storms - OVER THE LONG HAUL - and yes, expect a few hiccups along the way too LOL!)….Exchange Traded Funds (ETF’s) investing will work too - but, I like Mutual Funds - the minimums are $3,000.00 however (at least) to start investing in a SINGLE fund.  DO YOUR RESEARCH/DUE DILIGENCE ON THE WEB and also on YOU TUBE! Guys - the overall stock market climbs in a stair-step fashion:  up, then sideways/down and then up again!  Invest for the long term (like 30-50+ years)….YOU WILL BE A WINNER!  Be it an investment account or a retirement account or BOTH:  like a personal investment account and a ROTH IRA or an employer-sponsored 401k Plan along with a personal investment account. Dollar-Cost Average your contributions to personal investment/ROTH accounts; that is invest the same $ amount each and every month - regardless, whether the market is up or down!  Ignore the noise!  Ignore the Talking Heads”. CURRENT MARKET :  MY OPINION Me personally, I am accumulating cash and letting my current investment portfolio just ride along with this geo-politically fueled/baseless rate cut economic environment …Impeachment talks, China Trade War escalation, Iran concerns, Saudi Arabia bombings, Japan-South Korea tensions as well as renewed North Korea tension over prior failed talks, the American Farmers plight due to the trade war, negative return/yield rates on European Bonds, Brexit concerns, a dollar that is too strong, etc. When American companies start to cut back, lay people off, these people can not keep spending to keep GDP/the economy growing, then these people can not pay their mortgages/auto loans/credit cards….Will it be “somewhat” similar to 2008… all over again? I have no professional opinion nor do I have a crystal ball – Maybe the FED will engineer a “SOFT” Landing”…..this time: they never did in the past when “Bubbles” Greenspan or “Helicopter Ben” Bernake were FEDERAL RESERVE CHAIRMEN. You personally not agreeing with a law doesnt mean that you can just break it. If youre an immigrant coming from a country with a liwer legal drinking age or age of consent, you can see breaking those laws in the US as harmless. You can think they are stupid laws. They might even change in the future. But if you break them in the US, you will be punished. “I personally dont find an. Issue with this law” is not a defense. If you want to do something illegal and think it is unfair, work to have the law changed. Advocate for its change. And abide by the new rules (in this case, get a license, sell only to specific people, and dont sell to children). And this isnt slavery. This isnt criminalized homosexuality. This isnt infringing on your right to live. You can wait to get high in this particular method or sell it to others after it has been legalized. It isnt that hard. You are such an idiot and coward. “Breaking the law is illegal” is the entirety of what you’re saying (congrats on your basic baby brain logic) but its still fucking pathetic you’re defending a heinous prison system simply because you are pussy who loves authority and pointless contrarianism. Like it IS a stupid law and the point of this comic is that no one should lose years (or any time!) of their life over it.  If the government made a law that jaywalking is a felony you’d defend people being locked away only because they “broke the law”. Thats stupid and says more about you than anything. Grow a spine you slug. Another person who just insults and doesnt read. The argument isnt “breaking the law is illegal”, but that knowingly breaking the law comes with predictable punishments. If you dont agree with a law, you advocate for its change. You dont personally get to decide what is and isnt a stupid law. The age of consent in France is 15. And if you live in France, that could seem harmless. But if you immigrated to Japan or the US and started sleeping with 15 year olds, you can argue that it is harmless all you want, but it is still illegal. The government has made leaving your preteen or lower child home alone as a form child abuse. You can have your children taken away if you do it too much. I was left alone at 8 years old. All the time. I was fine. The other little kids left alone were fine. We could handle ourselves. We and Our parents saw it as “harmless”. That doesnt mean the parents cant be pubished for it. “I will break this law because i personally dont like it/think it’s harmless” is acceptable to you until it is used on a law that you actually support. “maybe if those jews didn’t want to get sent to concentration camps they shouldn’t have been jewish in poland.” that’s exactly what you sound like lmao. I’m really not sure what argument you’re trying to go for right now? Oh, i’m sorry, I guess you getting high is comparable to persecution now. Your argument can be used to justify breaking literally any law. There is a HUGE difference between laws that violate your right to live and laws that you just dont feel like following. If you cant see the difference then i feel very sorry for you. It is persecution, if there is no victim there is no crime, therefore treating people like criminals without a crime is persecution. What she said ^ Also forcing people into legal slavery by arresting and imprisoning them for victimless crimes sure as shit sounds like persecution to me.: Alyssa Milano @Alyssa_Milano Follow Ns NEWS MARIJU 4:14 PM 18 Apr 2018 MAKEMAT 1,593 Retweets 4.735 Likes 主与玉丰丰 -- libertarirynn: vaporwavevocap: cheshireinthemiddle: napoleonbonerfarte: cheshireinthemiddle: pseudopupil: cheshireinthemiddle: hardboiledoldman: cheshireinthemiddle: hardboiledoldman: cheshireinthemiddle: But you knowingly broke the law. What she said ^ Also forcing people into legal slavery by arresting and imprisoning them for victimless crimes sure as shit sounds like persecution to me.

Referenced on a show for eight-year-olds that aired on PBS. I just noticed in the wrestling scene, there are humans, and even Hulk Hogan is not an uncanny-valley aardvarkized caricature of himself. The funniest thing to me about this segment is that in the original show after the South Park segment Arthur gets big mad that the aliens wouldn’t eat him for being too high in cholesterol and argues the point which ends with him shouting “I’m just as edible as anybody!” I remember this episode so well 😂: anscathmarcach: libertarirynn: keeppartyvangoing: thegooftroop: late last night i watched an episode of arthur where buster says “osamu tezuka is the god of manga” in japanese and strangely enough i wasnt dreaming ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? That has to be extremely aggravating. Straight people like to experience gay tourism to show us queers how open minded they are. As if it didn’t occur to them we might be hanging out in gay bars to meet other gay people. My gay friend took me to a gay bar once i dont see the big issue of me going there whilst straight. Its not some exclusive club for gays only the same way we dont ha ve straight people clubs. So you don’t think there’s a reason there are gay bars? There is a reason it is for people to find like minded people but its NOT exclusive for gays only. Just like standard clubs arent only for straights i have had quite a few gay friends over the years and not one has batted an eyelid as ive joined them at a gay bar, I understand some people go there because they fetishize gay people and are looking for gay bffs but not EVERY straight person is like that. Gay bars exist because before 2003 it was illegal in most states to be gay and one of the few places where gay and trans people could go and be themselves was a fucking mob-owned bar. The cops used to kick down gay people’s doors and arrest them while they were in bed. Trans people couldn’t walk down the street without getting at least questioned by the cops. Bars were the only space for us, and even then they’d get raided by the cops. It’s why the riot that kicked off the modern gay rights movement happened at Stonewall, a bar. It’s why gay gathering places are bars instead of coffee shops or restaurants 9/10 times. (It also doesn’t hurt that drinking eases the pain of being the almost constant target of harassment and anti-gay legislation, also why alcoholism is so high in our community) This isn’t some fucking hookup culture thing, or finding “like minded people” it’s something that was forced onto and built into our culture. room-where-it-happens: vox: This heartbreaking ad reminds us what the 2016 election is really aboutOn Wednesday, Joss Whedon’s Save The Day PAC released my favorite ad of the 2016 campaign season. Titled “Verdict” and available in both English and Spanish, the two-minute long ad depicts a day in the life of a Hispanic family interspersed with television and radio commentary about the pace of voter turnout — low overall but high in some areas. At the end, the news is ready to announce the winner and a little girl asks her dad, “Papi, can we stay?”It doesn’t mention either candidate or party and is ostensibly simply part of a campaign to encourage people to vote, but anyone with half a brain sees it as a heartstrings-tugging piece of advocacy for Hillary Clinton. It had me in tears. The ad spoke to me, personally, in a way nothing else I’ve seen this campaign season did for two big reasons. The first is that it highlights the reality of working-class people of color, who have often been erased from discourse around the economic anxiety of Trump supporters and the multi-millionaire son of a multi-millionaire’s blue color appeal. Here’s an alarm clock set for 4 am, a man opening a store, a maid cleaning a kitchen, a cook making a living in a taco truck, etc. They’re not relaxing with their soy lattes after yoga. There are millions of people like them in the United States, and their votes are crucial to the election. The other is that even though the past few months of the campaign have not really had a policy focus, the ad is a reminder that there is very much a policy core to Trump’s campaign. There are millions of people Trump is promising to deport from the United States, and he’s premised those deportations on the idea that certain kinds of immigrants are inherently criminal. Meanwhile, Clinton is promising to let stay in the United States. And those millions have millions more in children, spouses, siblings, cousins, friends, and colleagues who will miss them if they are forcibly removed from the country. After losing the 2012 presidential election, the Republican Party wrote an autopsy report, the key premise of which was that the GOP had to demonstrate a greater level of interest in Latino concerns. Donald Trump’s key premise from the moment he announced his candidacy was just the opposite — it was time to stop being PC and start getting tough; stop sympathizing with the motives of the undocumented and start calling them murderers and rapists; stop worrying about the practical and humanitarian aspects of mass deportation and start promising it; stop worrying about making nice with Mexico and start talking about coercing Mexico into paying for the wall.Obviously Clinton’s campaign has its reasons for keeping the closing argument focus on other matters. And obviously Trump supporters are not going to appreciate this ad’s framing of the deportation issue. But this really was Trump’s original core differentiator from the GOP field. And since he won the nomination, there hasn’t been much dissent about it from other elected officials in his party. “Papi, can we stay?”Yep, there we go, that’s my heartbreaking.Seriously, stop making me cry campaign ads!: room-where-it-happens: vox: This heartbreaking ad reminds us what the 2016 election is really aboutOn Wednesday, Joss Whedon’s Save The Day PAC released my favorite ad of the 2016 campaign season. “Papi, can we stay?”Yep, there we go, that’s my heartbreaking.Seriously, stop making me cry campaign ads!
