Being Alone, College, and Computers: Philadelphia NEWS . RESTAURANTS HEALTH- WE G SITI[+ REAL ESIATE & HEUE· 1HINGS 10 De- 酉EDDING- BEST 0F PEILLY MAGAZINE Q Besides, the impetus seemed righteous. In a world torn asunder by the Great Depression, the Holocaust, and two World Wars, our citizenry needed to come together, be united, rally behind a collective vision of what it meant to be an American: You lived in a single-family house. you drove a station wagon, you wore bowling shirts and blue jeans, and you slathered mayonnaise on everything from BLTs to burgers to pastrami on rye. How do you think "Hold the mayo" became a saying? There was aluays mayo, and if you were some kind of deviant who didn't want it, you had to say so out loud MY SON İAKE, who's 25, eats mayo. He's a practical young man who works in computers and adores macaroni salad. He's a good son. I also have a daughter. She was a women's and gender studies major in college. Naturally, she loathes mayonnaise. And she's not alone. Ask the young people you know their opinion of mayo, and you'll be shocked by the depths of their emotion. Oh, there's the occasional outlier, like Jake. But for the most part, today's youth would sooner get their news from an actual paper newspaper than ingest mayonnaise The origins of this contentious condiment are hotly debated. Is its name derived from the city of Mahon on the Balearic Island of Menorca, where the Duc de Richelieu's chef, unable to find cream for a sauce to celebrate his lordship's successful siege during the Seven Years War, substituted an emulsion of eggs and ol? Or is it a bastardization of Bayonnaise, fronm polyglotplatypus: please listen to this poor man losing his shit as he reads an article blaming millenials for killing the mayonnaise industry that was written by a babyboomer upset people don’t want to eat her bland salads anymore 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Advice, Animals, and Best Friend: HOW TO FIND A LOST DOG On day 12 of searching for my dog in a heavily wooded area, distraught and hopeless, I ran into a couple of hunters. They said they lost the occasional dog on a hunt but always got them back. What they told me has helped many dogs and families be reunited DOG LOST The dog ownerls) should take an article of clothing that has been worn at least all day, the longer the better, so the lost dog can pick up the scent. Bring the article of clothing to the location where the dog was last seen and leave it there. Also, if the dog has a crate & familiar toy, you can bring those too (unless location undesirable for crate). You might also want to leave a note requesting item(s) not to be moved Leave a bowl of water there too, as the dog probably hasn't had access to any. Do not bring food as this could attract other animals that the dog might avoid. Come back the next day, or check intermittently if possible. Hopefully the dog will be waiting there. I was skeptical and doubted my dog would be able to detect an article of clothing if he didn't hear me calling his name as loud as possible all day for 12 days. But I returned the next day and sure enough found him sitting there! I hope this helps someone out there who's missing a best friend. After seeing this I put his favorite blanket he always slept on outside hoping he would smell mine or his scent and he was back the next fucking day asleep on it. When my cat got out, we called and called for him, and then, later that night, I remembered similar advice to this, and so put his little scratching pad, which he adores, on the front porch. Not even half an hour later, I heard a thump, opened the door, and there was his big butt, meowing at me. Bad, Cars, and Christmas: AT&T M-Cell 52% E 11:43 PM a reddit.com reddit r/relationships Non-Romantic My [27F] sister [30F] always gives family members bizarre gifts that kill the mood, starting to worry about her mental state u/chloedear My 30 yr old sister is an amazing person, successful and very generous, but anytime there is any kind of occasion that requires gifts (bday, wedding, Christmas, baby shower) she gives really macabre gifts, usually related to preventing death, that tend to put a damper on the mood. Just some examples: Last Christmas she gave everyone in the family portable fire extinguishers so we don't die in house fires . The Christmas before that she gave us seatbelt cutters and glass break hammers "in case our cars go off the road and we're trapped in" (her words) . When my parents went to Europe last summer for a month, she gave them copies of The Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbook as if it were a real book and told them it had "a lot of good tips" . She gave my brother and his wife a security camera and motion light set when they got married because they purchased a home that, according to my sister, is in a neighborhood with an "unusually high crime rate." * The one that really got me was at my baby shower last week. She gave me, and I'm not kidding, this creepy infant CPR mannequin that gives feedback as to whether you're doing chest compressions luffykun3695: iwilleatyourenglish: wowvantasticbaby: Just so people know, I looked at the source and the sister was in a very bad car accident and these gifts are likely her way of dealing with her trauma. honestly…. the fact that they didn’t include this in the original post fucking sucks.but also… i know these gifts may seem “creepy,” but they’re all really practical (well, aside from the book) and show that she clearly cares about the safety of her loved ones. This makes me wonder how people view trauma. You see a lot assholes online of shitting on “sjws” for being triggered and not having ~real~ PTSD, but things like this make me wonder if people simply have no idea how to recognize PTSD when it’s not people freaking out over a loud noise.

Confused, Gif, and Target: Anonymous reader who has never commented before I loved this update, but is it too much to ask that you make the chapters longer? Also, it's been so long since your last update that I had to go back and re-read the previous chapter just to know what was going on. It would be great if you could give us more regular updates so we don't get confused. Thanks Comment as Every tired fanfic author (Plain text with limited HTML 4300 characters left Comment Cancel seasonofthegeek: tomfooleryprime: tomfooleryprime: Writing is a process that often undergoes heavy edits… that includes responding to feedback.  I had no idea this post would resonate with so many people. I let my vitriol surrounding several comments I received on a recent update get to me and it spilled out into .gif form and it’s now morphed into the most widely shared thing I’ve ever posted. So many comments and tags have said things along the lines of, “This was why I quit writing” or “This is why I hate writing fanfic.” And that’s soul crushing to hear, but I can relate.  But while there are some crappy and entitled readers, there are also many brilliant ones and I’m so grateful for them. The huge response to this post made me go back and skim through the comments on my old stories, and comments like the one below are about half the reason some of those stories got finished, even if it was months later.  Comments like these are so rare, but when they do come up, they leave me staring at my computer screen, drumming my fingers on the keyboard, struggling to convey my feelings about how their words have touched my heart. These are the comments that take the longest amount of time to respond to and the ones that cause me to wear out my backspace key the fastest.  It’s easy to complain, but it’s literally just as easy to praise, so I just wanted to take a moment to recognize all those dear and dedicated readers who have propped me up when I wanted to quit. Readers like you are why I keep writing, and why I even feel honored to do it on rare occasion.  And fellow writers, keep your heads up if you can. :)  I know I reblogged this before with the first part but the added content is perfect so I’m reblogging again. To those who have left me these kind of comments, even if I wasn’t mentally able to respond at the time, please know how much they mean to me. I have them saved so I can go back and read them when I’m down. Thank you for sticking around.

Asian, Bad, and Baseball: OLD NAWY Josh Clark Something has been weighing pretty heavily on me the past few days. I have had a few small discussions on the issue, but haven't gotten too far into it. I wanted to share this, not for attention, but because I thought it needed to be done It's no big secret to my friends that I love to hunt, fish, camp and do pretty much anything outdoors. I have always considered myself to be a country boy stuck in the city. One of the ways that I used to show pride for my lifestyle was wearing t-shirts with the Confederatel Rebel flag on them. In high school, I even had a bumper sticker on my truck that read "Keep It Flying". I had grown up seeing the flag regularly, and although I had seen it used in negative ways on occasion, I chose to accept the "Heritage not Hate" and "Pride not Prejudice" interpretation of the flag. If you had asked me back then, I would've told you that it was a symbol of southern pride and had nothing to do with racism I was raised pretty close to downtown Nashville and grew up with kids of all races with all kinds of backgrounds. I played baseball, basketball and football on teams where sometimes whites were minorities. I am very thankful for this. As I continue to grow and learn, I realize that we tend to fear things just because we don't understand them Because of where and how I was raised, background. I was able to realize that we are all the same underneath. I have had white friends, black friends, Asian friends, Middle Eastern friends, Latino friends, Christian friends, Muslim friends, Atheist friends, etc. Thankfully, I have never had a racist bone in my body I never feared people of other color or It wasn't until well into my college years when I began to start thinking for myself. I no longer let the people I was raised by tell me how to view every issue and tried my best to be more open-minded. I believe that one of the most important things for us to do as humans is to try putting ourselves in others' shoes before we make any kind of judgement. Although I never meant anything racist by sporting the Confederate flag, I couldn't help but think of what some of my black friends thought about it. I really can't think of a time that I was confronted about it. Did it not offend them? Were they too nice or afraid to confront me about it? The more I researched about the history of the flag, the worse I felt. What I had been told about its history was wrong. Thousands of southerners still fly the flag with no racist intent. They still defend the good things they've been told about the flag. They, like I once was, are WRONG. The flag is a symbol of a way of life that was wrong. Not that it needs to be stated, but slavery is one of the most evil and cruel things this world has ever seen. The Confederate flag represents this evil. Where is the pride in that? The Confederate flag is also a sign of division. How can you truly be a patriot of this country and fly this flag? Do we really need to fly a flag to show that we are southern, or that we like to hunt and fish, especially when it's offensive to so many? It is not a kind thing, a good thing, or the right thing to do To those against removing the flag, I do not think you are a bad person. I know what it once meant to me. I do, however, challenge you to do your research. Step outside of what your family taught you and be open-minded. Even if you believe in a different history lesson, is flying a flag worth the pain it causes others? Please try to view these issues from the other side of the argument. To those I may have offended in the past, who never confronted me, I apologize. I was WRONG As our country continues to move forward on equality issues, I believe the only place for the Confederate flag is in our history books mysharona1987: This is great.

So listen up and receive some redneck love from a daddy of daughters. #1. You don't have a dadgum thing to apologize fo r. You see, you are no more respo nsible for the actions of an insane co ward w ho committed an evil act in your proximity than you would be for a devastating natural disaster or acts of mo rons near your ho tl Your text was some stinkin' thinkin in that regard. 2. Money, Old Navy, and Pizza: How CUSTOMER SERVICE WORKS Excuse me, I said a bit of ice on the bottom. Why is the ice on top? oh boy! Let me just turn off physics and tell the ice to stop floating Rude! I want to speak to the manager sorry about that! Here, take these $500 giftcards. Please don't give us 1-star on Yelp YOU'RE FIRED!! THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT! EVEN WHEN THEY RE WRONG) I worked in a Lil Caesars and a woman came in and wanted a sausage pizza with no sausage, but got mad when she was given a cheese pizza So when I worked at fitting room in Old Navy, a woman told me that a medium top was too small, and that the large top was too large. So she asked me to find her an "x-medium" Old Navy carries x-small, small, medium, large, x-large, 1x, 2x and 3x. There is no "x-medium". But she insisted, so l went and found her an "x-medium" (which was just a medium in a different color but the same top, same make same EVERYTHING) and she goes very happily, "THIS! THIS FITS ME PERFECTLY! THANK YOU SO MUCH! See you can do anything you can set your mind to!" I'm a waitress at a big fancy resort, and once a woman asked me for a diet water and when I told her there was no such thing she demanded to see my manager (who then also promptly told her there was no such thing and brought her regular water) Another occasion of stupidity occurred when a woman had been brought a steak cooked too much for her liking. I offered to take t back and bring her out a new one, cooked a little less, and she said "NO this one's fine I just want you to cook THIS one a little less." I then had to get the chef and have him explain why you can't UNCOOK a steak When I was working at dunkin donuts there was this woman in the drive-thru who asked for a lightly toasted croissant and then started complaining that the croissant was warm. And wanted her money back, so she gave me the croissant back and I gave her the money and then she tells me "now i want my new croissant" she wanted a new one for free and as she was screaming at me this guy in a biker gang covered in tattoos leans over the counter in the store and yells ma'am let me just tell you what we're all thinking. fuck off, you stupid cunt." i couldn't stop laughing and she drove away in anger Most of the people like in the stories above know that they're being totally irrational, but also know that if they complain enough they'll most likely get something free or discounted. So really most of the the nonsensical fucks are actually just cheap fucks with no shame or respect for people. Customer Service
