horde-princess:OH MY GOOOOOOOOD SCORPIA MY GURRRRL: Season 4 begins with the respective rises of Queen Glimmer as leader of the Rebellion and Catra as co-leader of the Horde. As the Horde makes advances on the Rebellion under the looming threat of Horde Prime's arrival, the Princess Alliance makes heroic strides but begins to disagree on the best way to defend Etheria. Ultimately, a shocking discovery about Etheria itself causes Adora to reconsider everything she thought she knew. At this year's New York Comic Con panel, Stevenson and the She-Ra cast went into a bit of detail about how the show's fourth season will spend a fair amount of time focusing on the ways in which a number of core characters will embark upon important personal journeys that culminate in drastic transformations Glimmer's becoming queen entails her developing a deeper, more powerful connection to her kingdom's moonstone which makes her significantly more powerful, but she also has to take on a number of new duties as Bright Moon's queen that she's got to balance with her adventuring Catra asserting her dominance over Hordak will lead to interesting developments in the Fright Zone as the power dynamic between the villains shifts and they prepare for Hordak Prime's forces to invade Etheria. But as much as the series is getting into bigger picture storylines exploring She-Ra's larger mythos, season four will still take its time to center more grounded stories, like Scorpia's gradual realization that her relationship with Catra is horde-princess:OH MY GOOOOOOOOD SCORPIA MY GURRRRL

Blogger Bunmi Laditan sent her 10-year-old’s school a clear message. “Hello Maya’s teachers, Maya will be drastically reducing the amount of homework she does this year. She’s been very stressed and is starting to have physical symptoms such as chest pain and waking up at 4 a.m. worrying about her school workload. She’s not behind academically and very much enjoys school. We consulted with a tutor and a therapist suggested we lighten her workload. Doing 2-3 hours of homework after getting home at 4:30 is leaving little time for her to just be a child and enjoy family time and we’d like to avoid her sinking into a depression over this.” A++++ parenting 💜 I’ve talked with a whole cadre of child therapists and psychiatrists about this very issue. There is little conclusive evidence that homework significantly improves elementary school children’s grades, understanding of subjects, or facility with various operations, processes, etc. However, plenty of evidence suggests that ever-increasing amounts of homework for young children lead to stress, anxiety, emotional fatigue, resistance toward academics in general, lack of leisure time to build social/interpersonal skills, and poorer family relations.  (My kids were doing about 3 hours a week IN KINDERGARTEN, at age 5 – so that’s ½ hour every night, after a 6.5 hour school day, or else saving it up for long slogs over the weekend, even more disruptive. And that wasn’t including reading practice!) We have stopped doing homework altogether with my 7 year old as a result of severe anxiety/depression and a learning disability. She had gotten to a place where she had so little self confidence and truly believed that she was stupid and worthless, not just because of homework of course – but every time we tried to sit down to do homework with her, it’d end in tears with her really vehemently berating herself, and no amount of encouragement could ameliorate the damage done. Now, granted, she’s got other things going on besides just an overload of school work. But in NO WAY did the homework help her, either academically or emotionally.  No little kid should have to spend an hour or more each night getting through homework. Now, my deal with Siena is that if she wants to give her homework a shot, I will absolutely help her if she wishes for help, but I no longer force her to complete all of it or to work on it for some set length of time before finally throwing in the towel.  Guess what? With the pressure taken off, she’s actually doing MORE independent work now, purely out of the desire to learn and practice, than she ever was before we’d decided with her therapy team and school that homework was just not a thing this kid could handle. Luckily for my older daughter my school’s 3rd-grade team decided to hand out homework only 3x/week, and the sheets take no more than 15-20 minutes to complete. That is totally reasonable for 8-9 year olds!  Anyway tl;dr just because the school system may require it sure as shit doesn’t mean parents can’t, or shouldn’t, fight it. Do what’s right for your kid, and above all, let them be kids.  I eventually stopped doing homework because I was overwhelmed by it. There was an article just the other day in the local paper about a primary school that’s abolishing homework! You can read it here (autoplay video, gives you a few seconds to stop it). Homework is intrusive in a young child’s life. It makes sense for adults who will likely have to bring work home with them so in college it’s good training. But for young kids. No. Seriously I’m 100% on board with this. There are high school students expected to do three or four hours and beyond worth of homework every day. It’s fucking ridiculous. And I work in elementary school where we literally have little kids develop anxiety disorder and have panic attacks over homework and testing. thats-tea: thats-tea: Everyone, a woman came to us on twitter to ask for help. We’ve seen her speak about her pain in the past few months of being on twitter. We told her to create a GoFundMe so the community could help and she was nervous to. If you could help her it would mean a lot, and would help her through something she’s been going through for a long time. Here’s her post: “Hello everyone! When I was born my jaw was significantly smaller than it should normally be and my mother was told by doctors that they should brake my jaw as an infant and add an implant so I wouldn’t have to worry about jaw problems in the future, my mother refused so that has what brought me to make this gofundme. I’m 21 years old and I provide for my family, I currently saved over 5,000 dollars by myself, recently I left my job for another opportunity and the other job opportunity ended up being horrible so I need this help more than ever. My jaw/teeth situation has gotten worse and worse in past months as my teeth are growing into my gums and it has effected my sleep and mental health, it’s gotten to the point where I get very bad lock jaw and can barley speak. The surgery itself is 7,600 dollars and in total with the hospital room and anesthesia its 9,910, I’ve already saved half of that. Please help if you can, thank you so much for reading this.” GoFundMe It would mean a lot if you could donate anything you can. If you can’t that’s okay as well, you’d also be doing a lot if you shared. Thank you, and sorry for taking up your time. We’ve personally donated $900. We helped her apply for an influencer job on twitter, and it’s looking like they’re going to accept her, so she’s scared to put her image there or would make the post directly on twitter. She’s nervous it might hurt her in getting the job, since she’s been out of a job for awhile, and she’s afraid if she misses this chance she’d continue being out of a job for a long time. We’ve been helping her get a new job because of the conditions she’s in She’s extremely scared she’ll lose the opportunity if she’s seen by those checking her accounts that she’d lose this opportunity, and we tried to convince her. Normally take over a person’s problem by paying monthly if possible, if they could make that plan. we had her create this gofundme specifically because she was crying about jaw pain. If this doesn’t work, next month we’ll have money aside to pay for it completely. We had her make this GoFundMe specifically because physical pain was involved. If it doesn’t work here on tumblr, I’ll try and force her to have the post made on twitter/facebook since this is a matter of pain.  We’ve also been helping with her living conditions which we’ll keep private. Interest in the therapeutic potential of ayahuasca🍃 has exploded over the past few years as more and more people learn about the wonderful benefits of this sacred brew. Ayahuasca is the combination of specific plant species containing DMT and MAOIs to produce a long lasting hallucinogenic experience with profound health benefits.😊 - New research is demonstrating what indigenous South American peoples have known for thousands of years; this plant medicine drink has potent antidepressant qualities and could potentially be used to combat addiction and PTSD.🙏 - Researchers placed harmine and tetrahydroharmine – the most prevalent alkaloids in ayahuasca – in a petri dish with hippocampal stem cells, and found that this greatly increased the rate at which these cells developed into fully mature neurons. The results of this study were first presented at the Interdisciplinary Conference on Psychedelics Research, and represent the first evidence that components of ayahuasca have neurogenic properties, thereby opening up a wealth of possibilities for future research.✨ - Another more recent study has become the first to analyze the antidepressant properties of ayahuasca in a controlled setting.🔬 29 patients with severe depression were given either one session of ayahuasca or a placebo, then analyzed for changes in their depression scores.💯 - One day immediately following the sessions, the ayahuasca group scored significantly lower on depression tests compared to the placebo group. After seven days, the placebo group had returned to a normal depression level, while the ayahuasca group were still on a much lower depression score.😎 - It is important to remember that taking ayahuasca in a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment is the greatest method for obtaining the most healing benefit possible.🙏 - This ancient brew is schedule one in the United States which means it has no medicinal value, yet is has been used as a medicine longer then the United States has existed as a country..🤔 - Source: http:-beckleyfoundation.org-ayahuasca-stimulates-the-birth-of-new-brain-cells-: Ayahusaca Grows New Brain Cells and has Antidepressant Effects @truth_society "Ayahuasca is not a drug in the Western sense, something you take to get rid of something. theconqueerstador: neurodivergent-crow: halduron-brightwang: immortalismortem: liquidglue: b just wear the seatbelt Mmmmmmm I gotta naysay here. Seatbelts do a LOT of harm. Not everyone can wear one  and not everyone wants to risk it. Just among my own friends and people I know in general; 4 females had a breast cut completely or partially off due to a seat belt. 6 people had their throats cut, to an obviously non-lethal degree. 2 had their stomach’s cut open to a horrifying degree that I won’t elaborate on. Not even counting the uncomfortably awkward belt locations for particularly large, small, fat, skinny people. Females with large breasts get the joy of holding the belt in place or adjusting it every couple seconds. They’re awkward, uncomfortable, painful, and can often cause the injuries in an accident. Sometimes it’s just better to forgo the belt. Those injuries caused by seat belts more than very likely would have been deadly had they not been wearing them. To have enough force to cut skin or cut off a breast in an accident is far more than enough to cause someone to go flying through the windshield of a car, to slam them into the steering column, or through a window resulting in deadly injuries or causing an even bigger accident for other drivers now that your body is in the road along with your crashed car. Are you really going to risk being a smear of ground meat on the pavement because your seat belt was a little uncomfortable or it might cut you? Then I got good news for you, there’s a wide variety of devices made specifically to make seat belts more comfortable and reduce that risk. These make it so that your seat belt won’t cut your neck, a simple sleeve of padded fabric that velcros around it, meaning you can put it anywhere on the belt.  This one does something similar, by readjusting the positioning of the seat belt to move it farther away from your neck and hey, helps a bit with having boobs in the way. They even make ones for children too. Boobs still in the way? While it’s pretty silly looking, this helps keep the seat belt in place so you don’t have to keep adjusting it. And if you’re overweight, they make seat belt extenders so you can still be safe.  But maybe you’re still unsure, then listen to the CDC and all of their sources.  “More than half of the people killed in car crashes were not restrained at the time of the crash.1 Wearing a seat belt is the most effective way to prevent death and serious injury in a crash.Seat belt use is on the rise. Laws, education, and technology have increased seat belt use from 11% in 19812 to nearly 85% in 20103, saving hundreds of thousands of lives. “ “Most drivers and passengers killed in crashes are unrestrained. 53% of drivers and passengers killed in car crashes in 2009 were not wearing restraints.1Seat belts dramatically reduce risk of death and serious injury. Among drivers and front-seat passengers, seat belts reduce the risk of death by 45%, and cut the risk of serious injury by 50%.4Seat belts prevent drivers and passengers from being ejected during a crash. People not wearing a seat belt are 30 times more likely to be ejected from a vehicle during a crash. More than 3 out of 4 people who are ejected during a fatal crash die from their injuries.5Seat belts save thousands of lives each year, and increasing use would save thousands more. Seat belts saved almost 13,000 lives in 2009. If all drivers and passengers had worn seat belts that year, almost 4,000 more people would be alive today” Or this one “ The number of those who escaped injury [by wearing a seat belt] increased by 40% and those with mild and moderate injuries decreased by 35% after seatbelt legislation. There was a significant reduction in soft tissue injuries to the head. Only whiplash injuries to the neck showed a significant increase.” Or this “ Fifty-five percent of those killed in passenger vehicle occupant crashes in 2008 were not wearing a seat belt…” “Wearing a seat belt reduces the risk of fatal injury by almost 50%. For children, the risk of fatal injury is reduced by 71% with the use of child safety seats.“ “Of those thrown completely out of a vehicle in a car crash, 75% died. Only one percent of people totally ejected from their cars had on a seat belt during the crash. Over 30% were not wearing seat belts.“ Conclusion? Wear your fucking seat belt. Tell your kids to wear their fucking seat belt. Tell your friends and family to wear their fucking seat belts. Time and time again it’s been proven that you are significantly more likely to survive a crash if you’re wearing one. Most people think they’re uncomfortable, but when you’re in a crash it can save your life. I’d rather be mildly injured than dead. Wear your seat belt. “uwu dont wear seatbelts bc some people got injured by them” THEY SURVIVED. which is much better than dying bc you flew through the damn windshield!! fucking dumbass. rhubarbstudies: [5/27/17] My French teacher gave us these tips for studying a new language, so I typed them up for you guys! You can check out the original doc he gave us here : HOW TO GET BETTER AT LISTENING COMPREHENSION by rhubarbstudies Listening comprehension: is a huge part of learning (and speaking) any language 1. It's about discrimination; isolating sounds and words while you practice 2. Pronunciation and comprehension go hand-in-hand. As 3. Listen with prejudice: listen for certain words, certain information. one improves, so does the other Best practice: Listen to your target language often: 5 hours/week in class is a good start. Watching shows or listening to music in your target language is a enough to significantly improve your understanding of the language Strategies and tips for improvement Music: listen to music and read the words at the same time. The goal is to start training your brain to recognize the letters that go with the sounds. The better you get, the more you'll be able to understand the words when vou hear them without text. Read out loud: just like when you learned your first language, reading aloud in your target language is a basic way to advance your comprehension. Use your book: its more than likely that your textbook has a section on listening, so use it Dare to mispronounce: use the words often and out loud. The more familiar y uth muscles become with making the sounds, the better you will get at interpreting them. → Repetition: if you have listening exercises, repeat those over and over again. The more you use them, the better you'll get. HOW TO STUDY GRAMMAR by rhubarbstudies Grammar: is the nuts and bolts of language Best practice: Nightly review: good, organized notes & repetition for mechanical proficiency. Think of grammar as the moving pieces of lanquage. It's flexible. There is rarely one right way to say something Study strategies for grammar (choose as needed) → Examples, examples, examples: write copious examples in your notes: the more ways you see things done, the clearer the pattern is. → Look for patterns: most grammar is very clean, there are rules and the the grammar will follow them in organized ways. When you notice a pattern, write it down, draw arrows and cartoons and anything else that helps you remember. → Become familiar with the parts of speech: (in all languages) and what they do. These are the building blocks of al language, and there are only seven. For conjugations: practice new forms immediately. If you get them into memory, you'll never think about them again, and you'll always have them ready Montessori shapes: associate different elements of a sentence with shapes and colors. Use whatever you can to help features stand out. → Translate this is the old school method. The more connections you forge between you current language and your target language, the easier the target language is to understand. Grammar drills: this is boring, but repetition has a huge success rate with grammar. Meet with your teachers: they most likely understand the topic they're teaching, so meeting with them is often the easiest thing you can do HOW TO MEMORIZE VOCABULARY by rhubarbstudies Vocabulary: the meat of the language-acquiring vocabulary is one of the most important parts of study. The goal is to enter it into long-term memory (saving you work down the road) Best practice: Nightly review: no more than 5 minutes. Flashcards are the most efficient method Other methods for working with vocabulary (choose as needed) ord groups: create charts if words grouped together that are similar, the more associations between words, the easier they are to recall Pictures: associate new words with both images and definitions. Vocabulary fan: write all the vocab down the side of a piece of paper, then fold it over and write the definitions. Keep doing this until, you have filled the whole page, and the page will be folded into an accordion shape Recopying: some people find success with the traditional way of writing out lists and definitions until you don't need the lists anymore Vocab journal this is what the pros do-keep a notebook purely for vocabulary. Any time you come across a word you've had to look up more than three times, add it to the journal with a definition. Kinetic study: associate movement with words and definitions. Engage your whole body in the topic. Your body helps jog your memory. Interactive notebooks: use foldable (like the vocabulary fan) to make flip books or flip boxes that you paste into a notebook. The more senses you engage, the faster toy can assimilate the new information. Drawing if you have a penchant for art, draw the ideas that come with the words. sing your vocabulary; set it to music that sticks with you. SongES HOW TO GET BETTER AT HOMEWORK by rhubarbstudies Homework is really a necessity in mastering new concepts because it's repetition. Use your book & other resources: if you have a textbook/workbook set, the homework you're doing most likely has corresponding sections. Look up words and anything else you don't know. Understanding the directions and questions is super important to sense of what your practicing Try anyway even if you get confused, try anyway. Giving up will only lead to getting behind and more confusion down the line identifying what you don't know is hugely helpful write questions in the margins of your homework/book so that you can remember them in class for next time or look them up on your own. Ask for help your teachers are most likely easy to contact and willing to give you homeworlk support or a quick meeting to clarify things. Keep up with your work and engage in class: if you work out of your workbook/textbook a lot, your quizzes and tests will most likely reflect your books. Keep them up to date. Correct wrong answers and use the books together rhubarbstudies: [5/27/17] My French teacher gave us these tips for studying a new language, so I typed them up for you guys! […] Although the gains to American women from affirmative action have extended in varying degrees to women of all colors, white women find themselves today in significantly better economic shape than women of color. In 1993, for example, the median income for white women was 16% higher than for black women, and the median white family income was 45% higher than that for black families (Bennett 1995).” –  Is Sisterhood Conditional? White Women and the Rollback of Affirmative Action They tried it tho They always do I’m willing to bet the people of color who got scholarships were more intelligent then the white People since they were being offered scholarships like crazy, but white People can’t seem to fathom that they’re not as smart as they think they are.

halfsyproblems: princeloki: f1rstperson: Glad to see my lifelong disinterest in golf is paying off let me tell you about golf i grew up in a little desert valley called Tucson, Arizona, where it only rains 2 inches a year on average. the majority of the city’s water is pumped from an underground aquifer, which took millions of years to fill. one of the biggest conservation efforts in our city was for water, naturally, and i spent a lot of time learning about low flow toilets and 5 minute showers. i learned that filling your sink basin and washing your dishes in that water is less costly than running the tap. i learned that it only takes 2 days without water on the desert for someone to die the city was sinking as the aquifer drained. neighborhoods fell into flood zones that didnt exist 10 years ago there’s a road called Golf Links in the city and it is lined with golf courses. miles of green grass where grass doesn’t grow, in a valley where it doesn’t rain. why? because the rich white retirees who moved there to stop the aching in their joints decided they should also get to play golf. meanwhile our public schools taught small children like me that taking long showers would kill the world let the golf industry burn Can I add, as someone who played competitive golf for a while (shut up, y’all know I’m nouveau-riche AmKal trash, and it was just SO satisfying to yank trophies out from under all those old name gadje), there is NO REASON golf courses have to be so manicured! Honestly, it would make the game more challenging and fun if you just played on standard area terrain. It would be significantly cheaper for the owners, too, and they wouldn’t have to repair the green every week when the fucking rich folk inevitably refuse to fix their own divets. Not to mention it would make the sport cheaper and more accessible to people who aren’t rich, retired white men (granted, there’s a lot of other cost issues in golf, like the fact that a decent driver can run for $200 for, again, no damn reason, but this would at least help). And you could still make it safe and accessible for elderly players without completely killing the natural landscape and wasting resources. These over-tended greens are just there because they make play marginally easier and because wealthy clubhouse people like the look of them (and it justifies keeping fees high enough to, y’know, “keep the riffraff out”).Those were the things that really drove me away from the sport, to be honest - the blatant racism/classism among most players, the wastefulness, and the complete aversion to change, or even to acknowledging things could be changed. Like I used to hear players talk all the time about how much they loved “being out in nature” and it made me want to break a club over their heads, because oh my God, do you think this is what nature is?! If you actually want to appreciate somewhere with beautiful landscapes like Arizona while you play, then don’t build a fucking emerald green in the middle of a desert! And if you’re just there to play on pretty, easy, fake turf, then go to a virtual range. I know old golfers hate computers more than anything else, but at least my generations keeps their simulated hobbies INSIDE where they can’t ruin the local environment. Like I think it’s pretty telling that I started this little rant by apologizing for enjoying golf (a sport I do still like in theory, and think a lot of people would enjoy if it was ever pried out of the hands of rich white snobs). I know a lot of people who don’t fit the conventional golfer mold who are in the same boat. They’re good players, and they still want to play, but the course culture is so fucking terrible it drove them out permanently. So yeah, like OP said: burn the golf industry. It’s killing the environment, it’s killing communities, and (if you somehow don’t care about those but do care about golf) it’s killing the sport itself. As it is, golf is gonna go the way of croquet in like 15 years tops. 12 sex myths debunked!: 1. Myth: A woman's "first time" is meant to hurt. A woman's first-time might hurt if she's not turned on enough, if her partner is too rough, or if she's feeling anxious and tense Also, while most women's hymens are worn away before their first times, it plays basically no role in discomfort during sex anyway. 2. Myth: You can tell when you (or someone else) have an STI. Unfortunately, a quick peek with a miror every now and then won't cut it. Lots of STis don't have any signs or symptoms at all, and the only way to be sure you're clear is if you get tested. 3. Myth: Hymens "break" the first time a woman has sex. Nope. Hymens can't break. They're more like a door frame than a barier. They're usually worn away by the time you're a teen thanks to things like exercise, and even walking, and if they weren't, you wouldn't be able to menstruate properly. So, if women bleed during their first time, it's nat their hymen "breaking"-it's probably vaginal tissue bleeding because of poor lubrication or 4. Myth: Taking PrEP means you don't have to use a condom. PrEP is a drug that significantly lowers the risk of becoming HIV positive and some people believe that if you take it, you no langer need to use a PrEP only reduces the risk of HIV infection, so it doesn't protect against other STDs like gonomhoea or chlamydia, and it only works if taken daily. Using a condom and PrEP also reduces the risk of Hiv even further, so it's a no-brainer 5. Myth: Most women can orgasm just from vaginal sex. Most women need stimulation around their clitoris to orgasm, and that's totally normal. Around 70% ot women can't orgasm just from vaginal sex. So it you want to orgasm during penetration, make sure that area gets some attention. 6-Myth: Using a condom ruins" sex. Can't teel anything when wearing a condom? This is most likely because you're wearing the wrong size and there isn't enough lubrication. Finding the right fit will drastically improve your experience. 7. Myth: Vaginas get looser the more a woman has sex. A locked up, squeezed up, shut-down vagina is a tense, non-aroused one, not a virginal one." When women are turned on and relaxed, their vaginal muscles loosen slightly, and tighten again after sex. Or, put another way, if giving birth to a baby doesn't permanently change the shape of a vagina neither will a penis 8. Myth: Lesbians can't really have sex. This one neads to be debunked, like now. Lesbians can detinitely have sex, in lots of difterent ways, with or without sex toys-just like any other couple 9. Myth: Virginity only involves a penis and a vagina. There isn't one solid, exact definition of what "sex is. Most of us grew up thinking losing your virginity only involved PIV sex, but this is a realy heterocentric view that excludes a lot of people's realities and experiences. The truth is, "virginity" has different meanings to different people and only you get to say when you've "lost it" or not 10. Myth: You only need to use condoms for penetration. You can get STis from oral sex, so make sure to get regularly tested, and to use condoms or dental dams- whether you're giving or receiving. You can also get STis from sex toys, so putting condoms on them reduces the risk of you catching something (and can make them last longer 11. Myth: Women should pee before sex to avoid UTls. High school lied to us. Peeing before sex is the number one cause of honeymoon cystitis. You should wait to pee after sex because a strong pee stream increases the chances of pushing vaginal bacteria back out. 12. Myth: Older people never have sex. Your gramps are totally doing it. Studies show that 60% of men and 42% of women aged 65-74 are sexually active, though the trequency of sex reduces with age Basically, sex has no expiry date. 12 sex myths debunked!

meme-mage: How Traditional Gender Roles Inspired Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch’s Super Powers Over the course of time the meaning behind the hero has certainly changed. One would have never imagined that heroes thousands of years in the future would have cosmic rings that allow them to fly through space or have an average teenage boy inherit super strength and senses from being bitten from a spider. The heroes and Gods of the past were often a reflection of the culture and humanity during that period of time. You could easily say the same is true today with heroes and villains in X-Men leading the way on social commentary. Despite the continuation of good story telling and commentary, the identity on who can be a hero has changed significantly over time. In today’s day and age anybody can be a hero and can have any super power they desire.
