Bad, Beer, and Life: Guillermo del Toro says he saw a real UFO and it was 'horribly designed' The Shape of Water director Guillermo 2.4K by Laura Hudson/2d elphabaforpresidentofgallifrey: doux-amer: truestoriesaboutme: dragon-in-a-fez: imagine you saw an alien spacecraft and your first reaction was to critique its flat color palette and unimaginative lines The Truth is Out There and It Has Bad Aesthetics Because context actually makes the already great headline even greater: “I know this is horrible,” del Toro continues. “You sound like a complete lunatic, but I saw a UFO. I didn’t want to see a UFO. It was horribly designed. I was with a friend. We bought a six-pack. We didn’t consume it, and there was a place called Cerro del Cuatro, “Mountain of the Four,” on the periphery of Guadalajara. We said, ‘Let’s go to the highway.’ We sit down to watch the stars and have the beer and talk. We were the only guys by the freeway. And we saw a light on the horizon going super-fast, not linear. And I said, ‘Honk and flash the lights.’ And we started honking.” The UFO, says del Toro, “Went from 1,000 meters away [to much closer] in less than a second — and it was so crappy. It was a flying saucer, so clichéd, with lights [blinking]. It’s so sad: I wish I could reveal they’re not what you think they are. They are what you think they are. And the fear we felt was so primal. I have never been that scared in my life. We jumped in the car, drove really fast. It was following us, and then I looked back and it was gone.” (x) the same man that made a movie about making giant robots to fight aliens SAW SOME ALIENS, INSULTED THEIR AESTHETIC, and RAN AWAY SCREAMING

Children, Head, and Life: Popular on Quora If a person is born deaf, which language do they think in? Michele Westfall, speaks ASL fluently Updated Sep 2 Upvoted by Laura Hale, Disability sport reporter and Ashley Harris, Teacher of the Deaf and I am also Deaf myself. I was born Deaf and have been Deaf my whole life. I do not wear hearing aids or cochlear implants (and have no desire to wear either). I speak American sign language (ASL) and it is my primary language. I am a mother of two born-Deaf children, so our being Deaf is genetic for us. I have a 'voice' in my head, but it is not sound-based. I am a visual being, so in my head, I either see ASL signs, or pictures, or sometimes printed words. My inner voice does have words, concepts, and thoughts. My mind is not blank, nor is it "silent." I process information through my brain, my eyes, my nose, my tongue, and my touch, all in the same way anyone would process their information. Sound just isn't part of my thought process, and because it's not part of my thought process does not mean I don't have an inner voice. I do. I'm a conscious, sentient being who thinks and reasons. :-) .2m Views-View Upvotes Upvote 46k Downvote Comments 386+ View 85 Other Answers to this Question
darkhairedgirlfromgallifrey:

oryeo:

❤️

I’ve always thought about this cause of course if you’re hearing you think words but if you’ve never been deaf then it’s very to try and imagine how they “think”. Whereas when we think we “hear” the words. I can hear them as I type this so to know exactly how a deaf person thinks or how their inner voice (for lack of a better word) works is fascinating.

I’ve honestly never thought about this before but that’s really interesting. I have thought about what blind people dream though.
