Imagine going to a party and the white suburban stay at home mom with two overachiever kids and white dad who barbeques but doesn’t know how to barbeque and yet is always surrounded by other white Dads who compliment his barbqeuing even though they’re just store bought preshaped frozen patties from Ralph’s or Food 4 Less and while he’s cooking those the white mom comes out and says “okay kids, here’s some pizza!” And she pulls this out and starts telling the kids why its a “fun pizza” and then cries in her master bedroom when no one likes it or finishes it and the white dad is then consoling her why she sobs that she’s a terrible mother and ruined her fourth grade straight B+ sons birthday and thinks her kids hate her but they don’t care but she continues crying softly into her pillow while the children eat poorly cooked burgers with unmelted kraft singles and too much mayonnaise and the only other condiments are two pickles and pepper because the dad calls it his special burger with a secret spice but the spice was just pepper and the kids just keep playing E rated games on their Nintendo Wii while the 17 year old older sister starts cleaning the tragedy up and throwing away uneaten “fun pizza” and whole burgers dejected from the start while she dials Pizza Hut to get these kids an actual birthday lunch and the mother then throws a fit because the daughter did something the kids liked and she didn’t and was the only one making a huge deal out of it and the daughter was then grounded from her TV in her room for only two days and the son went to blow out the candles in his standard birthday cake from food 4 less the mom added strawberries to so she could feel she did something but was still slightly teary and sad because her day was ruined by no one wanting to eat her “fun pizza”: ERIDIEN

If you don’t think the house looked cooler and more delightful before, then I don’t know what to tell you.
Not to mention the house isn’t “shabby” in those pictures - the paint’s spotless, the molding’s intact, the stairs and windows are maintained. 
I grew up in the rust belt and this house looks better than about 90% of the houses built before the 90s in most neighborhoods. This house has been maintained meticulously and lovingly at great expense.
It’s not “shabby”: it’s a non-neutral color with intact Victorian details that you removed because how dare a house have unique features on the outside, what will the neighbors think?

I say this as someone whose friends and family have to make them buy colors when shopping or my wardrobe woudl be nothing but black, white, beige, grey, and my super racy delve into brown and hates all the blue-teals like whoa….
WHO THOUGHT MAKING THE COOL TRIPPY VICTORIAN INTO A GODDAMN HELLHOUSE? This is uncanny valley shit; that house is going to kill everyone and drink their blood for some goddamn color in its life.
…God, can you imagine the operating room-level neutral inside?

This monstrosity was done by a fucking house flipper, of course. I saw the listing for it and they completely destroyed the inside of the house as well. I was so pissed I couldn’t get through all of the pictures. My husband and I bought a fixer-upper Victorian and while we’re not keeping her period authentic, we’re damn sure keeping her interesting and beautiful. She’s currently a drab white, but we’re getting her painted this year and that gorgeous teal is exactly the color I was thinking about doing her in.

Unpopular fact: in the 70s a minimum wage worker could pay for college with a summer job. 
Unpopular fact: minimum wage was conceived to be the minimum amount of money a person would need to support themselves and their families when working 40 hours per week.
Unpopular fact: minimum wage was created because working men and women in this nation fought–figuratively in the negotiating room and literally in the streets–for a fair working wage, with sweat and blood and tears and death. 
Unpopular fact: military service personnel are not the only people who have fought and died for your rights as American: labor leaders and common workers laid down their lives so that you could have a 40 hour work week instead of 80 hours; so you could have a 2 day weekend instead of none; so you could have lunch and bathroom breaks instead of going hungry and shitting your pants,; so you could have a three day weekend in September.
Capitalism would NEVER dole out basic human decency without literal human sacrifice.

not to mention, if minimum wage was meant solely for high school students how would the business survive when students are in school??  are they only supposed to be open on the weekend? this “unpopular opinion” makes no sense. 


Unpopular fact: in the 70s a minimum wage worker could pay for college with a summer job. 
Unpopular fact: minimum wage was conceived to be the minimum amount of money a person would need to support themselves and their families when working 40 hours per week.
Unpopular fact: minimum wage was created because working men and women in this nation fought–figuratively in the negotiating room and literally in the streets–for a fair working wage, with sweat and blood and tears and death. 
Unpopular fact: military service personnel are not the only people who have fought and died for your rights as American: labor leaders and common workers laid down their lives so that you could have a 40 hour work week instead of 80 hours; so you could have a 2 day weekend instead of none; so you could have lunch and bathroom breaks instead of going hungry and shitting your pants,; so you could have a three day weekend in September.
