aurordream: The average rating for Peter Capaldi’s last season was 5.8 million viewers. No episode that season rated above 6.68 million - and that rating was for the season premiere. That season featured the only two episodes to rate below 5 million viewers EVER since Doctor Who was revived in 2005. The season before that the average rating was 6.20 million. That was the first season since 2005 not to have a single episode rate over 7 million viewers. Every season before that had an average rating in the 7 millions, except for season 4 in 2008 which averaged 8.42 million. Incidentally, that was David Tennant’s last full season, and the final full season before the Moffatt years. Whilst the ratings have only been announced for 4 episodes so far, not a single episode of Jodie Whittaker’s first sesason has fallen below 8 million viewers. The average rating so far has been 9.15 million. Its true that it is unlikely the average will stay that high - ratings have technically been dropping week by week. Exactly as happened every season in the past - it is perfectly normal for ratings to fall towards the middle of a season, and rise again for the finale. A lot of the media will just do anything to discredit this season because they can’t handle the fact the Doctor is female now. : Jamie McKelvie @McKelvie Follow Ah yes, he's right, the ratings have dropped to *checks notes* their highest since the Tennant years Jeremy Vine On 5JeremyVineOn5 Has Doctor Who become too politically correct? saathi1013: erikaschnellert: Stranger Things is an amazing show. I can’t recommend it enough. This comic isn’t very spoilery but it won’t make a lot of sense until you’ve watched the show. The entire first season is on Netflix. Go check it out! okay but like THERE IS AN ACTUAL CONNECTION: “When Millie auditioned, she had long brown hair down past her shoulders. But Eleven was written as having hair “buzzed almost to the scalp.” Millie and her parents were understandably hesitant to chop it all off. Would it look ugly? Would it cost her other roles? Fortunately, Mad Max: Fury Road was about to come out, so we pulled out a magazine photograph of Charlize Theron as Furiosa and showed it to Millie. “Charlize looks totally badass, right?” Millie agreed; Charlize looked badass. And that was it: She agreed to buzz it all off. “When the day of the haircut finally arrived, Millie’s mom brought out a camcorder, while her dad ran away with tears in his eyes, unable to watch. It was a pretty dramatic scene. But also very quick. Within 10 minutes we had shaved it all off and slapped a fake “11” tattoo on Millie’s wrist. Millie looked at herself in the mirror, gave her best Furiosa scream — and Eleven was born.” (source: ew.com) I just.  LITTLE GIRLS BEING INSPIRED BY FURIOSA WHILE GROWN MEN CRY. : Still pretty? pre erikaschncllert tumblr.com saathi1013: erikaschnellert: Stranger Things is an amazing show. ‘The Boondocks’ Predicts An OprahWinfrey Presidency In 2006 Episode “Return Of The King” – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Like many of the craziest-biggest moments in history, an Oprah2020 campaign was predicted in an episode of an adult cartoon series. From the prediction of Trump’s presidential campaign in ‘The Simpsons’ to Bruce Jenner’s transformation in ‘Family Guy,’ adult animated cartoons have been on point for the last several years. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now, amid the talk of Oprah’s potential presidential campaign, a connection between this morning’s headlines and a scene from a 2006 episode of Adult Swim’s ‘The Boondocks’ has surfaced. Just twelve years ago, the show predicted a Winfrey Presidency with a newspaper that read, “November 8, 2020. Oprah Winfrey Elected President.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the episode, which is the 9th of the first season, Huey Freeman tells an alternate version of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. Titled, “Return of the King”, Freeman says instead of being killed, King slips into a coma for 32 years. In 2000, he wakes up and heads to vote in the presidential election but is turned away. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As the episode continued, Huey showed King how the culture plummeted after his shooting, as everyone was waiting for him to come back. So, Huey convinced him to reach out to the public again. But, disappointed in their ignorance, King set the record straight, just before revealing that he was leaving the country. That was the last time Huey saw King. At the end of the episode, the newspaper revealed that the year was now 2020.
