Apparently, Asian, and Community: mirab3lle: spaceshipsandpurpledrank: moonlightoscar: locohost: cartnsncreal: Super disgusting! People are FUCKED UP.  It’s racial discrimination to treat someone less polite than someone else would be treated in the same circumstances, because of race. We can’t ignore the case of blatant racism. We MUST draw public attention to such cases. We must ensure that racists are identified and socially discredited. There are no reasons or excuses for racism. It’s just disgusting. from the KTLA news article: When Suh said she would report the action to Airbnb officials, the host replied: “It’s why we have Trump.” Suh said that comment made her painfully aware of how threatened minorities have become under the Trump administration. “For me personally, to now have someone say something racist to me and say it’s because of Trump, it was my fears coming true,” Suh said. “That people who held these racist beliefs felt emboldened.” The host went on to say she would “not allow this country to be told what to do by foreigners.” Suh is an American citizen who has called the U.S. home since she was 3 years old. “If this is my experience as a light-skinned Asian woman, what is it like for people who have darker skin than me or are Muslim?” Suh wondered aloud. “What is it like for people who are undocumented or not U.S. citizens yet?” BLESS HER FOR BEING VOCAL ABOUT THIS DO PEOPLE REALIZE HOW REAL THIS IS YET!? Ok so i work for Airbnb. And they actually don’t fucking play with discrimination. At all. We were banning people who were going to Charlottesville for the riot. But they can’t do anything unless we are told. And the most common thing i hear is “i don’t want to start a ruckus or cause any trouble” but.. in order to prevent this stuff… we need people to. Don’t stay silent. Reblogging again for that! ^^^^ Also apparently the host was fined $ 5,000 and was forced to attend a class on Asian Americans, as well as apologize and serve community service. Which is awesome.

Anaconda, Bad, and Beautiful: T-Mobile 12:38 PM 53 % Tweet Amritsizzurp2LaWhore @Vasheezy They made us hate ourselves: an Indian children's book, as evidence UGLY BEAUTIFUL 6/9/15, 8:32 AM Reply to Amritsizzurp2LaWhore Home Notifications Messages Me belligerentbagel: pilambdaod: xekstrin: pilambdaod: bengali-babe: “Colorism isn’t real.” Colorism? Wow because the term “racism” is so blase. pilambdaod Colorism specifically refers to people of their own race valuing lighter skin over darker skin. For example in latina culture, valuing “good” straight hair over “pelo malo” or bad, curly hair. Racism would imply we’re talking about at least two different races here; colorism specifically is about racist ideals within one race, people of one race policing others appearance within their own race.  (since this is an indian book, presumably made by indian people for indian children to read, depicting a light skinned indian woman as more beautiful than a dark skinned one, it’s colorism.) One of those is clearly Caucasian the other Indian. Creating random new “isms” only makes legitimate grievances seem petty and stupid. “One of those is clearly Caucasian” Aishwarya Rai, Kareena Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut  Karisma Kapoor, Shruti Haasan, Zarine Khan All actresses/models born in India to parents who were also born in India (or Pakistan), in a narrow view of “race.”  If a Papua New Guinean hooks up with a Swedish person all you get is a human.  There’s no new thing you’re going to get. You just get a human.  - Bill Nye: Race is a Human Construct (and don’t look at the comments; it’s the usual cesspool of bigots)  Ideas on “race” have been in slow development over the years, but colourism is a real thing (often with roots in imperialism, especially as Western ideas of beauty began to intrude upon countries).  The 100 Years of Beauty: Philippines has a jarring jump where April Villanueva (who has light/medium-toned skin) gets her skin darkened for the 1910s-20s aesthetic, then becomes powder-white when US/European colonial interests make a stronger influence on Philippine society in the 1930s (more in the research video).  Two more examples of skin tone variation between famous women in countries where colourism has become prevalent in celebrity culture (ie, it was a lot harder finding photos of a dark-skinned Korean actress than a light-skinned one):  Koreans: Song Hye-kyo and Lee Hyori  Filipinos: Valerie Garica and Nicole Scherzinger (active in the US; Filipino father, Hawaiian/Samoan-Russian mother)  Variation in skin colour across a “race” is as real as variation in eye colour (”oh, you have brown eyes? I guess you’re not a real Caucasian”).  Colourism also pervades a lot of modern beauty marketing.  What’s underneath your dark skin? A prettier, lighter version of yourself! Everyone should strive to be more fair and lovely because only then you’ll be happy with your flesh prison!!  tl;dr colourism exists and isn’t some bogeyman made up by “”es jay double-ews,”” and if you’re the person bemoaning how it “delegitimizes racism” then it’s likely you actually don’t care about racism at all and are just trying to devalue the arguments with the classic “but so-and-so people have it worse! how could you be so self-centered and selfish??”

Africa, Beautiful, and Church: When she is told Her skin is too dark I do not hesitate to offer, That the sun loved her so much It kissed her more Than the rest of us. Black is Beautiful. Bleaching cream disgusts me. The ideology that created it disgusts me. I didn't see any Europeans in DR Congo. (Not saying there aren't any) I have only seen beautiful dark skinned Africans. But I have seen bleaching products everywhere owned by European companies. In Europe I see tanning cream everywhere... They want Africans whiter and they want to be darker? I am confused? Like if you think all African countries should ban Bleaching products. No they aren't beneficial to the countries, most major European cooperations don't pay tax to Africa. Also the mindset was developed with colonial rhetoric, rape & control. The church & "missionaries" told us whiteness is next to godliness. Now the media tells us that whiteness is pure & beauty's definition. Just look at every damn magazine. Even the major shopping centres are owned by European immigrants (they call themselves expats, I don't) guess what whole rows of bleaching products, beauty magazines with white people on & in or sisters with blonde hair, light skin, bleached skin or white foundation, then they retouch them to make them whiter. What is wrong with these people? Just give it a rest. I heard all of this the lighter you are the less likely that you work outside & the whole classism thing. That is disrespect. How about we just start petitions to get all of these bleaching products banned globally. It's Bleach... Bleach Fam, you go crazy if it gets on your clothes. If you drank it you would die. It's bleach. It is destroying organs. Your liver can't clean your blood of it, it causes cancer. You destroy your melanin. Just stop it. Dark skinned sisters you are so beautiful. Never bleach your hair or skin. You were born beautiful. Never change that because of psychopathic unrealistic, unhealthy standards of beauty dictated by mentally ill middle aged men, who want to make money out of you. I love you and all real brothers and sisters of all colours do too. So forget this bleaching! chakabars
