God, Oh My God, and Saw: supersugoiboi: violetohara: the-polyhedron: conquerorwurm: violetohara: violetohara: violetohara: violetohara: Tiny dirty stray kitten hanging out at the bottom of our stairs since yesterday. There are a lot of self-reliant ferals around our apartment, but this little thing was dirty covered in burrs. We gave it some chicken but couldn’t catch it. I think it may have wandered over from the outdoor cat hoarder colony down the street; that house is awful we saw kittens there last week. This morning the downstairs neighbor managed to grab it for us, and I put it on this cozy towel started combing and picking the burrs sticks out of its fur. It calmed down immediately and has been chilling here with me in the kitchen ever since. Got a vet appointment in an hour to get my little buddy cleaned up checked out. I hope it isn’t too sick; I think it might have a cold. If we can, we are probably going to keep her. What a difference a day makes! Took this little guy to the vet, got the fleas and dirt washed off him, got some antibiotics for a slight cold, but he is otherwise fine. Kneading and purring up a storm, eating a lot and being heart-crushingly adorable. We have named this glorious creature Nux. A little over a month later and Nux is growing into a very long and floppy shoulder cat! Oh my god!!!! i’m so happy for this cat i hope nux knows im proud of him I just told him!

Best Friend, Detroit, and Life: fragilefox: bemymonument: bemymonument: My best friend had a horrible top surgery experience, and his surgeon doesnrsquo;t seem to care. He is raising money to get a second opinion and (hopefully) another surgery to fix what his first surgeon did. Anyone can look at these pictures and realize that is NOT right. So even if you cannot donate, please reblog and share this. My best friend is entirely broken over this and is strongly fighting a deep depression because of it. He deserves happiness, and was so close to finally reaching it before this happened. I want nothing more than for him to love himself when he sees himself, including with his shirt off. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read, share, and/or donate! http://www.gofundme.com/5s6wm6o PLEASE SHARE, it’s not even just about the money. Eli wants to get the word out and possibly prevent this happening to others! [ID: Two pictures of Eli’s chest post-op. The results are not typical for a transgender mastectomy, as there is no masculinization and the shape of the original chest is visible. it is not typical cancer mastectomy or breast reduction results either; the nipple grafts were done directly on top of the incision site, and the sutures were done poorly. there is a great deal of scarring. end ID] here is the text from the gofundme, with spaces added for accessibility: So as most people know I recently got top surgery on March 13th. I have waited my whole life for this surgery and I couldn’t wait to see the final results. I was supposed to get my surgery done with Dr. Doreen Ganos, a transgender specialized surgeon at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, she was amazing at what she does and had great results. Sadly two weeks before my actual surgery she ended up passing away. I got passed onto a surgeon who was taking over her patients. I met with him and he had nothing but great things to say, one of which was “my goal is to have minimal scarring for you, so when you are on the beach no one will question your chest”. Any trans guy would jump for joy at that remark so I felt very confident still going through with surgery with him. However, the outcome turned out not what I expect nor have I ever seen before, as pictured. The surgeon chose to not use drains after the procedure, he stated that it was not necessary. He also didn’t leave me with any sort of binding after the surgery other than this sticky tape over my chest, that I had to remove myself at home. And when I removed the tape at home after a week post op, I had never been so let down in my entire life. I had no words, other than “what the hell”. I’m not sure what procedure he was trying to do, but clearly if I was on the beach, certainly I would get questioned with my chest. Since March I have been on antibiotics three times due to having infections. Along with having to get a revision that didn’t really do much other than make my chest flatter(which is nice) but still very deformed, as also pictured. I also have been through multiple shirts due to leaking fluid…which could’ve been avoided had he put drains in. It has come to the point that the best surgery of my life has turned out to be the worst thing to happen to me. My mental health has declined severely, and I have come to conclusion that I need to get a second opinion, along with a new surgery to fix this outcome. Another surgery, taking off time from work again, and more medical bills will be very expensive and I cannot afford it myself. So I am reaching out to the public and hopefully me finally sharing my story may help a little, rather than me hiding the severity of it. Any little donation helps or even reading my story and sharing it, I truly am so thankful in advance for anyone and everyone who comes across this page. edit: the surgeon that did this is Dr. Herman Houin at Henry Ford, Fairlane Dearborn location

Best Friend, Drinking, and Family: READ THIS Hi Jo, you've lost your short term memory. This paper will update you on your condition, as your memory right now only lasts about 5 minutes, so you're continually asking the same questions. Where am 12: You're in the ICU atyes, this is the hospital you like. s today/How long have I been sick?: Today is Tuesday May 31, 2011. You've been in the What i hospital since Monday May 30, 2011 at 1pm. You started feeling weird Sunday night after getting back from the campgrounds with your brother and father. You were also dehydrated during the weekend, and drinking pedialyte. You were vomiting, had a terrible headache, and were not able to be aroused (lolz whats new?) when you fell asleep. You also were running a fever What's wrong with me?: You have an infection. Your biggest symptom right now is short ternm memory loss and confusion. You're able to hold a conversation, but you go through the same series of questions again and again. It's like 50 First Dates. They're not sure right now, but they've ruled a lot of stuff out. It could be meningitis, which can cause memory loss and some of the earlier symptoms you had (fatigue, nausea, vomiting, headache). As of my typing this up (4:30pm), they did not have a diagnosis (or aswould say, diagnoses.) They did a CAT scan, and you didn't stroke out of have a seizure, and you haven't bumped your head so they're confident that this is temporary MENIGITIS!? How do I get an infection that rots my brain: It's airborne, and it's an inflammation of the spinal cord or something. It's a serious condition but everyone seems confident that you'll be fine when the antibiotics kick in Are the kids okay?: The kids are perfectly fine and they aren't showing signs of any illness or infection.is on formula and is doing surprisingly well on it and you're pumping and dumping just in case Does my family know2: Yes, your family knows. is flying out tomorrow and yo grandmother might be coming with her. No, your grandma didn't speak in tongues, but she did sob. You called her a dipshit. You've spoken to your mother twiceand all of your family has called to introduce themselves to me lol. They're being updated continually L have to pee. You have a catheter, so feel free. 2: Yes, and you've known that since Friday. You get the keys on the 22d of June. This is the 31st of May. Yes, you for sure got it. amiliar?: That's your nurse are so fancy for a hospital room!: Yeah bro, I don't know what your fascination with the floors is, but you've said that like 800 times
oswinstark:

221cbakerstreet:

lunapics:

laughingsquid:

Friend Makes a Woman Hospitalized with Short-Term Memory Loss an Informative FAQ

This is the best friend a person could ever have.

The last one 😂

I fucking burst out laughing at that last one

America, Frozen, and Memes: Why You Should @vegantake0ver HE FRIENDLY ACTIVIS Never Eat Shrimp Shrimp is the most popular seafood in the United States, with Americans eating an average of 4.1 pounds per person annually. As delicious as shrimp may be, we actually should not be eating them. The process that delivers bags of frozen shrimp to your grocery store at cheap prices has devastating ecological consequences, and you’ll probably not want to touch that shrimp ring ever again after reading what’s really happening behind the scenes 🍤 Shrimp is either farmed or wild, but neither option is good for the environment. Farmed shrimp are kept in pools on the coast, where the tide can refresh the water and carry waste out to sea. Ponds are prepared with heavy doses of chemicals such as urea, superphosphate, and diesel. Then the shrimp receive pesticides, antibiotics (some that are banned in the U.S., but used overseas), piscicides (fish-killing chemicals like chlorine), sodium tripolyphosphate, borax, and caustic soda 🍤 Shrimp farmers have destroyed an estimated 38 percent of the world’s mangroves to create shrimp ponds, and the damage is permanent. Not only do the mangroves not return long after production has ended, but the surrounding areas become wastelands. According to a Yale University research paper, shrimp farming has made certain areas of Bangladesh completely unlivable for people: “The introduction of brackish-water shrimp aquaculture… has, in turn, caused massive depeasantization and ecological crisis throughout the region 🍤 "It takes five square miles of cleared mangrove forest to produce just over two pounds of shrimp - and that land is typically left depleted within ten years and rendered unusable for another forty. By comparison, the devastation left behind from cattle-ranch deforestation seems, well, quite rosy 🍤 According to Jill Richardson’s informative article called “Shrimp’s Dirty Secrets: Why America’s Favorite Seafood is a Health and Ecological Nightmare,” wild shrimp isn’t a better option because it usually involves the use of deep-sea trawlers, which kills 5 to 20 pounds of “bycatch” (unwanted species of fish accidentally scooped up by the trawler’s net) for every pound.
