This guy aces quantum mechanics by EagleIndustriesJP MORE MEMES: Sairam Gudiseva 3nd period Never has a man influenced physics so profoundly as Niels Bohr in the early 1900's. Going back to this time period, little was known about atomic structure; Bohr set out to end the obscurity of physics. However, things didn't come easy for Bohr. He had to give up most of his life for physics and research of many hypothesis. But, this is why you and I have even heard of the quantum theory and atomic structures. Bohr came up with his quantum theory while studying at Cambridge. Bohr was a skeptic and he never truly believed in Max Planck's old quantum theory. He put forth the idea that, going from one high-energy orbit o a lower one, an electron could, in fact, be trying to emit a quantum of discrete energy. Bohr was criticized for this idea, but he didn't let up. Soon after, Bohr said his famed quote, " If quantum mechanics hasn't shocked you, you haven't understood it yet." This quote is extremely famous and has gone down as the motto for quantum physicist around the world. Understandably, Bohr never won a Nobel prize outside of physics (of which he only won one). Bohr's still going strong with his theories on atomic structure; he allowed for 100's of scientists to fully experiment with the cell and its many components. Bohr was largely on the run from the Nazi's when he came up with this discovery, which is amazing because around this time, Bohr's home country of Denmark was invaded by the Nazi's. Bohr and Ernest Rutherford are given credit, but it is believed that Rutherford decided to desert Bohr in the middle of their work. Rutherford once, quite famously said that you should never bet against the wonders of science. Niels Bohr's famous career never really kicked off until he was forty years old. Most other major scientists were going all over the world with their ideas by their early twenties. However, in order to preserve the legacy of Niels Bohr, he has his own institution, whose goal is to make many more great strides in the field of physics for years. How did Bohr affect you and me? Without Niels Bohrs' more advanced atomic theory, we might as well cry over how little we know of the atoms and their compounds. Physics would have never been such a force in the todays society. However, to this day, research is still going on to improve and update the atomic theory. Although scientists clearly want to improve on Bohr's theory, many famous physicists come out publicly and openly say that Bohr's ideas will never be improved upon, todays society cannot say goodbye to an opportunity to improve our understanding of the sciences. If Bohr never had silenced his critics, we would still be following Planck's theories, and going on incomplete information. Bohr's later life was all occupied when he decided to go back to Denmark and head the Royal Danish Academy. His main goal was to tell the world of the of the greatness of the Danish Sciences and most likely educate a new crop of scientists for years to come. There is controversy surrounding Bohr's lie during his stint in the Manhattan project. Though he claimed to be anti-violence and a peace-seeker, Bohr engineered on the Manhattan Project. Though he didn't hurt anyone directly, thousands of people died. Neils Bohr opened many doors for you and I in the physics world, he will go down as one of the greatest physicists. Out of more than one billion firearms in the world, American citizens hold 393 million, for a population of roughly 326 million. That’s a lot of guns! The last time the US federal government managed to pass laws that limit the spread and use of guns was 25 years ago. It was 1994. The Federal Assault Weapons Ban was temporary. It expired in 2004, resulting in a massive increase in mass shootings across the country. Republicans are running out of excuses, blaming the latest incidents in Drayton and El Paso on video games. We can end gun violence. Let’s start with gun control. What sort of gun control legislation would you like to see be put into place? OP, that claim of shootings increased is false. The violence and shootings didn’t change in that decade from the previous decade, and in fact, violence has been on the decline. WHAT HAS CHANGED is how much media is shoved down your throat. Thats it. The nonstop spam from legacy media of a single event for a month, if not months on end is what changed. It used to be a 5, maybe 10 minute story has now turned into a 4 week “constant coverage” of spewing the same info daily, with nothing added. After the early 90s, we saw a sharp decline and its been declining ever since. Meanwhile, ownership is at an alltime high, increasing, as if a plethora of armed citizens reduces the audacity of a potential killer to attempt knowing they’ll get capped. What has also changed is the increase in the absolutely terrible idea of “gun free zones” seeing as approximately 85-95% of these shootings are occuring in these zones. Seems like that’s your problem. Hmm, this graph seems to showcase that despite the US owning vastly more guns… homicide rate is lower than a hefty chunk of even the non gun owners… I’d just like to know how they propose to take our guns. If I got one logical explanation from one of these half wits that didn’t include magic or ridiculous gestapo tactics we could have a conversation but, every F’ing time it devolves into name calling, insults, and slander. They simply can’t explain how to take the guns away. Not a single one of them has ever responded to me without crass vulgarities and irrational screeching. myamberreason said:  Anyway, guys, why you need THAT many guns? A true programmer: Hacker Scripts Based on a true story: build engineer has left for another company. The dude was literally living inside the terminal. You know, Xxx: OK, so, our that type of a guy who loves Vim, creates diagrams in Dot and writes wiki-posts in Markdown... If something anything - requires more than 90 seconds of his time, he writes a script to automate that. xxx: So we're sitting here, looking through his, uhm, "legacy" xxx: You're gonna love this xxx: smack-my-bitch-up.sh - sends a text message "late at work" to his wife (apparently). Automatically picks reasons from an array of strings, randomly. Runs inside a cron-job. The job fires if there are active SSH-sessions on the server after 9pm with his login. xxx: kumar-asshole.sh scans the inbox for emails from "Kumar" (a DBA at our clients). Looks for keywords like "help" "trouble", "sorry" etc. If keywords are found - the script SSHes into the clients server and rolls back the staging database to the latest backup. Then sends a reply "no worries mate, be careful next time". xxx: hangover.sh another cron-job that is set to specific dates. Sends automated emails like "not feeling well/gonna work from home" etc. Adds a random "reason" from another predefined array of strings. Fires if there are no interactive sessions on the server at 8:45am. xxx: (and the oscar goes to) fucking-coffee.sh - this one waits exactly 17 seconds (!), then opens a telnet session to our coffee-machine (we had no frikin idea the coffee machine is on the network, runs linux and has a TCP socket up and running) and sends something like sys brew. Turns out this thing starts brewing a mid-sized half-caf latte and waits another 24 () seconds before pouring it into a cup. The timing is exactly how long it takes to walk to the machine from the dudes desk. xxx: holy sh*t I'm keeping those XX: A true programmer

akingandhiswarlock: brolinmerthurendlesslove: #ugh #he’s saying thank you for choosing me even though i know how much your father means to you #and i will love you and protect you forever and always don’t you worry #you were the only one for me and i wouldn’t have it any other way #all with the look in his eyes (via magikalk) Now that I’m watching their faces on repeat, I’m realizing what their looks really mean in this moment. I have no doubt that Arthur protected Merlin from Uther more than once while he was alive; Uther handed out punishments like candy to anyone less than a knight, and we all know Merlin often made mistakes because he’s The Worst Manservant Ever. Even so, I don’t think it ever occurred to Arthur that Uther would kill Merlin for anything. Earlier he asked Merlin why Uther’s ghost would have tried to kill Guinevere, when “he knows how much I love her.” I think he thought the same thing about Merlin. Uther had seen the bond between his son and Merlin a lot more than he’d seen Arthur and Gwen’s love. It was obvious to everyone in the castle how much Merlin and Arthur cared about each other. I think it’s breaking Arthur’s heart right here to realize that Uther really did care more about his legacy than about how Arthur would feel if Merlin, his best friend and closest companion, were to die, when Uther knew the unspoken love his son had for Merlin. And Merlin, just like it says in the tags above, is realizing that Arthur really will put him first when it comes down to it. Arthur didn’t hesitate to send Uther back–didn’t try reasoning or talking to him like he had before. Arthur blew the horn without even stopping to let him finish his sentence, because once his father tried to kill Merlin, he was done with him for good. I think Merlin is seeing, once again, how worthy Arthur is of his love–how brave and strong his king must be to stand up to his father like that, when he’d spent all of his life respecting and fearing Uther. He’s relieved that he was saved and his magic wasn’t found out, but he’s also just so proud and loving Arthur more than ever. Merlin and Arthur is literally just the best love story ever. : akingandhiswarlock: brolinmerthurendlesslove: #ugh #he’s saying thank you for choosing me even though i know how much your father means to you #and i will love you and protect you forever and always don’t you worry #you were the only one for me and i wouldn’t have it any other way #all with the look in his eyes (via magikalk) Now that I’m watching their faces on repeat, I’m realizing what their looks really mean in this moment. Merlin and Arthur is literally just the best love story ever.

freedomjusticewarrior: yahooentertainment: lmao😂/smh🙄 Eli Bosnick had the best response to this ridiculousness. “If I gave you a bowl of skittles and three of them were poison would you still eat them?” “Are the other skittles human lives?” “What?” “Like. Is there a good chance. A really good chance. I would be saving someone from a war zone and probably their life if I ate a skittle?” “Well sure. But the point-” “I would eat the skittles.” “Ok-well the point is-” “I would GORGE myself on skittles. I would eat every single fucking skittle I could find. I would STUFF myself with skittles. And when I found the poison skittle and died I would make sure to leave behind a legacy of children and of friends who also ate skittle after skittle until there were no skittles to be eaten. And each person who found the poison skittle we would weep for. We would weep for their loss, for their sacrifice, and for the fact that they did not let themselves succumb to fear but made the world a better place by eating skittles. Because your REAL question…the one you hid behind a shitty little inaccurate, insensitive, dehumanizing racist little candy metaphor is, IS MY LIFE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF MEN, WOMEN, AND TERRIFIED CHILDREN… … and what kind of monster would think the answer to that question… is yes?” : If I had a bowl of skittles and I told you just three would kill you.
