Anaconda, Apparently, and Children: BUSINESS INSIDER Migrant children say they've been forcibly drugged, handcuffed, and abused in US government detention Tara Francis Chan 9h Central American asylum-seekers wait as US Border Patrol agents take them into custody on June 12 near McAllen, Texas. John Moore/Getty Images BUSINESS INSIDER Migrant children who are considered unaccompanied minors and are in the care of the US government say they've been drugged and abused. * Court documents in a class-action lawsuit filed in April reveal shocking allegations that the children were overprescribed psychotropic drugs, leading to weight gain, an inability to walk, and forced sleep. Other children say they were abused verbally, physically, and mentally. * whyyoustabbedme: Children were not informed about what conditions they apparently had. “I don’t remember if I got anything in writing about their decision but I don’t think I had an opportunity to challenge it … I took nine pills in the morning and seven in the evening. I don’t know what medications I was taking; no one ever told me that. I don’t know what my diagnosis or illness is.” Physical force was used to administer drugs. “I also saw staff throw another youth to the ground, pry his mouth open and force him to take the medicine … They told me that if I did not take the medicine I could not leave, that the only way I could get out of Shiloh was if I took the pills.” Staff members initiated tranquilizations. “When [a staff member at Shiloh] would call the medical staff, they would come and give me a shot to tranquilize me. It happened many times. They would give me the shot and then I would start to feel sleepy and heavy, and like I didn’t have any strength. I would sleep for three or four hours and then wake up and slowly start to feel my strength return. When the staff did that, they left me in the classroom near the wall to sleep.” Children were verbally abused by staff to provoke a response. “Some of the staff at Shiloh would provoke the children there and make us angry intentionally. They made us act violently so then we had to be given shots. The staff would call us names like ‘sons of a whore.’” Some were unable to walk normally. “They are requiring [my daughter] to take very powerful medications for anxiety. I have noted that [she] is becoming more nervous, fearful, and she trembles. [She] tells me that she has fallen several times … because the medications were too powerful and she couldn’t walk.” Some children experienced unhealthy weight gain, including one who said they put on nearly 100 pounds. “After taking the medication, I was more tired, I felt sad and my eyes got teary … I began to gain a lot of weight … In approximately 60 days, I gained 45 pounds.” Some were handcuffed for days on end. “At Shenandoah, my room had a mattress, a sink, and a toilet … I was forced to wear handcuffs on my wrists and shackles on my feet for approximately 10 days in a row.” Children were allowed outside for only one hour a day. “I am suffering a lot being in the Yolo Juvenile Detention Center. It is a jail and I sleep in a locked, small jail cell. I can’t leave here and have no freedom at all. We only get one hour of time outside each day. I have to live in a small cell with concrete walls.” Clothes were taken away. “Whenever I was put in restriction, they took away my mattress and blanket. They took my clothes away about 8 times.” And these are just the children old enough to tell us.

Anaconda, Apple, and Batman: Christian Bale weight loss and weight gain On the left is Christian Bale in the 2004 film The Machinist- the film he did before being cast as Batman in Batman Begins. Check out (The Machinist) if you get a chance. It's one of Bale's best performances. He took up smoking to help curb his appetite when he was crash-dieting for The Machinist. He wanted to drop down to 100 pounds, but the director said no out of fear that his health could be in too much jeopardy. Bale drank one cup of black unsweetened coffee, and ate one can of tuna or one apple each day- for 4 months prior to filming. On the DVD featurette, he said he found that his weakened condition caused problems such as having trouble running because he litterally had no leg muscles left. He then started eating both the apple & tuna on days he would be shooting a phyhical scene. His 63-pound weight loss is one of the most drastic for any actor-actress in film history. Director (Brad Anderson) had planned on using some CGI to thin Bale out and was shocked & impressed when he saw Bale's appearance on the first day of shooting knowing he wouldn't need CGI. After Bale was cast as Bruce Wayne-Batman, he was told to get as big as possible. Bale underwent a 6 month dietary and exercise regimen and ended up weighing about 220 pounds- 40 pounds above his normal weight, and 100 pounds from what he weighed in The Machinist. It was decided that Bale had become too large. Friends of his and some of the film crew dubbed him "Fatman". He quickly shed about 20 pounds to have a leaner, more muscular frame. Bale described the experience as an unbearable physical ordeal ☆ BatmanBegins ChristianBale ChristopherNolan ChrisNolan Nolanverse TheBatman BruceWayne GothamCity TheMachinist BradAnderson TrevorReznik TheDarkKnight DarkKnight TheDarkKnightRises DarkKnightRises TDK TDKR DcMovies DcFilms DcMovie DcFilm DcComics DcMultiverse DcComicsFan CapedCrusader TheCapedCrusader DcFans DcComicsUniverse DcComicsUnited DcUniverse

Bad, Fashion, and Friends: I knew she was made by God when saw lightning in her hips. 💛⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ Story-vulnerability post: I first noticed I had stretch marks when I was a normal weight at 13. I was shocked when I first realised what they were. At this age for me, was the era when Size Zero just "became in fashion" and this Size Zero image was portrayed as the goal in magazines. This was before "social media" and a lot of influences came from newspapers and magazines. Seeing these stretch marks on my body at a young age, I felt worlds apart from these images and it affected me pretty badly actually. I then went on to put on weight and had more stretch marks. I became ashamed of my body as my friends didn't have them on their hips and stomach. I would be the one in the swimsuit, where everyone else was in bikinis. Fast forwards a few years and I lost a lot of weight, and the stretch marks remained. I was at a normal weight but would still cover up a lot as I was far from accepting myself. Back in 2013 when I gained the weight (as shown on this account) I was the heaviest I had ever been. I didn't gain many more stretch marks (my skin just became a bit looser). When I lost weight, I was in this body that was once 235lbs. Although to many that didn't know me, and even those that did, I looked completely normal, but I did not feel normal as the weight gain had changed my body. I'm not going to lie, it was difficult to accept. It was a new me in old skin. I would get angry at myself and felt bad to share that here as I didn't want to send a negative message. But since the beginning of 2017, I have really tried to love+accept myself. I really feel like for the first time in my life I am learning to be kind to myself and accept my stretch marks. I am learning to be kinder to the young me who didn't know what was happening to her body. I have found the bodypositive movement really helpful as in typical mainstream media things like stretch marks+body issues are rarely covered. Thank you to you guys and social media for teaching and helping me to accept myself and thank you to anyone reading this for giving me a place to share my story❤️ Today I don't have the courage to share my stretch marks but I hope one day I will❤️ . @trillamericana2 📸

Bad, Baked, and Facebook: TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY IGBGCONSCIOUSVIBRANCY ealth Healthy (Visceral Fat) Visceral fat is the internal fatty tissue that wraps itself around the heart, liver, kidneys and pancreas, and streaks through muscles. Fat packed around the heart may predict narrowed arteries, even in people who have don't have symptoms of heart disease. Though extra fat often gathers just under the skin, it's the deeper, underlying fat that is most likely to increase the risk for heart attack. This is the fat that is found in the [abdomen] and surrounding vital organs. Visceral fat is the type of fat that is metabolized by the liver, which turns it into cholesterol that circulates in the blood. "Bad" cholesterol, called low-density lipoproteins or LDL, collects in the arteries where it forms plaque, a waxy substance that narrows the arteries. If you have a protruding belly and large waist, that’s a clear sign you’re storing dangerous visceral fat. While it’s most noticeable and pronounced in obese individuals, anyone can have visceral fit, many without even knowing it. Being overweight increases the risk for accumulation of visceral fat, but it is not only what you weigh but what you eat that contributes to visceral fat. Carrying around excess visceral fat is linked with an increased risk for: •Coronary heart disease •Cancer •Stroke •Dementia •Diabetes •Depression •Arthritis •Obesity •Sexual dysfunction •Sleep disorders Poor diet and lack of exercise can lead to weight gain in the form of visceral fat. Eating a lot of high-fat, high-calorie foods can lead to weight gain and increased visceral fat, especially if you tend to gain weight in your stomach. The types of fat you eat is important as well as the amount. Strictly limit or eliminate processed foods, store-bought baked goods and fried foods to avoid trans fats. Try replacing foods containing saturated and trans fats with those containing polyunsaturated fats, the type in vegetable oils. Eliminate high-fructose corn syrup. A plant-based and nutrient rich diet actually reduces visceral fat as it supports a healthy metabolism that keeps the organs clean and metabolising fats accordingly.
