So I’m texting with my lil homegirl in Toronto and I’m like “aye y’all got Chil Fil A in Toronto 🤔” and she like “nah” and I’m like “aight when u slide thru Chicago it’s on” and she like “smash! We don’t fvck with Chik Fil A! 😤” And that’s when I had to stop her right there, bruv. See I don’t blame u Canadians because y’all really woke the long way but I gotta splain sum real quick. We all out here tryina make things right. U feel me? We all taking a stand. Against inequality. Against intolerance. I feel that. My fist in the air too, sis. BUT REVOLT HAS A LINE THAT CANNOT BE CROSSED AND THAT LINE IS CHIK FIL A 😐😂. Do I like they stance on same sex marriage? No. Do I like they tenders? Also no. I LOVE THEY TENDERS, BRUV. I PEEL OPEN THAT SRIRACHA SAUCE AND I PEEL OPEN THAT POLYNESIAN SAUCE AND I DUNK + TWIRL MY MEAT IN BOTH SAUCES - IN ALTERNATING FASHION - AS MY HEART (and belly, and eye) SHED A SINGLE TEAR OF HAPPINESS. But Smash, what if tomorrow they tweeted ‘Chik Fil A supports the Trump Travel Ban, go back to your country 😤.’ Well see now sis, extraordinary measures require extraordinary responses. I would go directly to my jeweler Tony on Wabash. I would say “Tony my dude imma need a cross.” Tony: “smash...you don’t wear crosses(?)” Me: “TONY GIMME THE CROSS AND STOP AXING QUESTIONS. MAKE SURE IT GOT JESUS ON IT. Put diamonds in the thorns too 🙂.” And I would stroll to Chik Fil A on State Street. And put that cross on, go in and say “two orders of tenders and a peach milkshake please.” The black cashier would eye me. I would eye her back. I would look down. I would look back up and see her shaking her head: “smash...I served u daily during Ramadan. DAILY. In here like a crack addict at sundown in your suit - 8:32 pm on the dot I’m handing you tenders. And you’re back? After what they said about the trump ban? Wearing a CROSS(?)” And I would, with a solemn stare, mouth the following words “sis...issa time to fight and it’s a time to eat. The only thing standing between me and the dinner God hath planned for me is you. YOU COULD CATCHETH THESE HANDS. Glory be to Jesus.” BLESS UP 😩😍😂😂😂: l just rescued this beautiful girl, and she is sleeping inside for the first time in her life Reddit u/CollectiveOfCells @DrSmashlove So I’m texting with my lil homegirl in Toronto and I’m like “aye y’all got Chil Fil A in Toronto 🤔” and she like “nah” and I’m like “aight when u slide thru Chicago it’s on” and she like “smash! It’s sickening.

The plot of Coco is literally the plot of The Book of Life with some minor changes so the plagiarism isn’t that blatantly obvious.

Boycot this movie. Disney didn’t want to make The Book of Life because it would not interest USAmerican (ahem gringo ahem) audiences. And now they are basically plagiarising TBL.

Disney made it abundantly clear they only care about using Latin American cultures, Mexican in this case, for money, but actually don’t care about Latinxs/Latin Americans and respectful and authentic rep. If not, look at The Emperor’s New Groove and that wtf thing they did with Elena of Avalor.

Ah yes, boycotting a racially and culturally diverse film will really show Disney that they should……… stick to…….. white movies? That doing anything besides a ‘safe’ film will end in boycotts and rage on the internet?

Also like….

“The day John Lasseter gave the thumbs up for this movie, I immediately felt this huge weight drop onto my shoulders because I knew that we were doing something different than we had ever made at the studio and that for the first time, we were going to have this enormous responsibility to do right by this culture and not lapse into stereotype or cliché,”

and…

The result is that Unkrich secured an all-Latino voice cast (including Gael Garcia Bernal as a skeleton named Hector who helps Miguel on his journey in the Land of the Dead) and sought authenticity via numerous story consultants, key crew members and filmmakers (like co-director Adrian Molina), and musical talent culled from artists down in Mexico. Unkrich, Molina, and producer Darla K. Anderson made frequent trips south of the border (in fact, Lasseter approved the film just three weeks before one Dia de Muertos fell, spurring a first-time scramble to not miss out) and soon sent his story artists, production designers, and even sound crew down to take the aesthetic pulse of villages.

From x

Also looks like this was in pre production in 2013 so thats probably part of why they didnt want to pick up BoL? It could have been for any reason tbh

Anyways like, if you dont wanna support it don’t but y’all are always clamoring for more varied representation in dinsey and pixar so maybe don’t boycott a film they are using to test to waters? Like if they make another Scandinavian fantasy film after this and you all rage Im gonna remember this, put your money where your mouth is :/

Also like, am I crazy or has Disney not been actively including latin@ representation? Or is Elena Princess of Avalore a fever dream Ive been having

Remember don’t get on the hate bandwagon with no proof; you claim that the story is a rip-off but you don’t go into any detail about either plot. We’re supposed to just believe your interpretation? I’d definitely need to know a lot more about Coco before casting judgment.

And Book of Life came out in 2014, if Coco was in pre-production at 2013 it could easily have been passed over for the fact that they already had an in house story to represent that market, and we all know full well that Disney likes to go through a different cultural story/background for each feature film as part of their longstanding tradition.

Even if you want to assume the worst and that their motives were bad and that they’re some evil megacorporation, which you can surely be entitled to think I’m not going to say Disney is amazing and doesn’t have a horrible history- at the very least they are finally making non-white movies. Boycotting the very content we have been begging for for ages isn’t going to get us anywhere, it’s just going to make that content that we asked for unable to turn a profit and therefore impossible to create and sustain a business with. We can’t expect people to make content and not support themselves on it as well, they need to make money to be viable sources of income to sustain the business. If this film doesn’t make money all Disney is going to know is that they can’t make feature films about Latino stories/cultures/etc because it won’t sell.

Why are y'all always doing this shit? Seriously why? I’m beginning to think that you secretly don’t want any diversity at all because any attempt at it is never enough for you. You boycott The Great Wall because it had ONE white dude on the poster. Never mind the primarily Asian cast. Never mind the CHINESE director. You made it clear that you weren’t the least bit interested in Asian made films with Asian actors as long as there was a white guy anywhere within 5000 feet of it. Then you flip shit about TGITS. Never mind the fact that Major isn’t even a freaking human. Since it was from an anime she had to be Japanese. Never mind the fact that plenty of animes are actually depicting white people. Never mind the fact that TGITS fans from Japan loved the idea of Scarlet Johansen playing the lead. Never mind the fact that it brought attention to a well-made anime classic. Just wah wah boycott because we know what Japanese people should be offended by better than they do. Maui was too big, something something Polynesian stereotypes. Honey Lemon can’t be Latino! She’s not brown enough and she doesn’t run around making tacos and screaming “ay dios mio!” all the time! The Princess and the Frog girl was going to be named Maddie but no we can’t have that because it sounds vaguely like the word “Mammie” if you have absolutely no idea how English works.

You claim you want diversity and then you absolutely dissect and destroy anything that attempts it. You refuse to be satisfied with anything because any attempt at diversity will not be quite right for you.

You claim to speak on behalf of other cultures because apparently you don’t think that they are smart enough to speak for themselves.

Well speaking as a female minority, stop it. I’m sick of this crap. I don’t need you to speak for me and tell me what I need to be offended by. It is not closely related to other parrots and, in fact, has a combination of biological features not shared by any other species. Early Polynesian settlers hunted the bird for its plumage and meat. At the beginning of the 19th century, kākāpō were still widespread throughout New Zealand. From the 1840s, European settlers not only hunted the bird, they cleared and set fire to bush for farming, destroying its habitat. Most devastating of all to its survival was the introduction of predators such as rats, cats and stoats. In ancient history, its only endemic predator was a giant eagle (now extinct) and it developed the habit of nesting, rearing and feeding its young on the ground. This nesting behaviour made its eggs and chicks easy prey to introduced mammalian predators, especially cats. source: nzbirdsonline.org.nz ________________________ Bertubuh besar, tak dapat terbang dan nokturnal. ________________________ komikinajah sianginajah selasaedukasi: A BIRD CAN WALK SEVERAL KaKaPO ARE THE HEAVIEST KM IN ONE NIGHT. I'm sure many people were surprised at the comments made by this man . He appears to be Polynesian and acknowledges he is an ethic minority yet he still held racist views against blacks in general. This phenomenon is more common than one might think. I grew up with neighbors that were from Honduras and El Salvador in New Orleans and we got along great. Yet as I got older an traveled more I started to see how Dominicans treated Haitians , how Cubans treated blacks in Miami . Wherever Hispanics had a ethic majority they were just as racist if not more than whites in some cases . They will practice housing and employment discrimination on Jim Crow levels if possible. Black people are some of the most loving and supportive people willing to show empathy and ride for people that would exploit them in a heartbeat. It's not just Hispanics, Jews , Arabs and , Asians behave in the same manner whenever possible. Black people are the mules of society and the black woman carries the largest of the burden . Many ethic minorities may have a black friend or spouse but still view the race as a whole as inferior . I'm sorry for pointing this out but I felt it needed to be said . 17thsoulja BlackIG17th Lastly even some Caribbean and African blacks don't like African Americans. The black American is truly culturally alone in the world. Isolated by design forced to assimilate simply to survive. OrphanedAfricans: MOST RACIST MOMENT worthy review.com ON TV EVER!
