Candy, Charlie, and Dad: karik evayna Violet Beauregarde should've won Wonka's chocolate factory Have I watched the movie in the last decade or more? No. Do I have iron clad evidence to support my argument? Yes. 1. She's the most knowledgeable about candy She's committed to it, and knows her stuff. When Wonka holds up a little yellow piece across the room, she recognizes it immediately. She was able to switch to candy bars for the sake of the contest, so we know she has personal discipline and is goal oriented. Also, two major projects play directly into her strong suits: the 3-course- meal gum that Wonka failed to make safe (gum) and the neverending gobstopper (longevity) 2. She's the most fit to run a business. Violet is competitive, determined, hard working, and willing to take risks. Her father is a small town car salesman and politician, so she could easily pick up knowledge and support from him. (Veruca's dad is also a business man, and in a compatible market (nuts), but it's made very clear that Veruca has no respect or knowledge of business practices or hard work.) 3. Shes the most sympathetic to the Oompa Loompas. She critiques Veruca when Veruca demands to buy one. More importantly, Wonka has been testing the 3-course-meal gum that always goes wrong' on Oompa Loompas while he presumably just watches. Violet is ready to put herself on the front line, instead of treating the Oompa Loompas as disposable, and would therefore be a better boss. 4. Her personality flaw' is the most fitting for the company. In the moralizing Oompa Loompa song, they just say gum is pretty cool, but it's not socially acceptable to chew it all day. The thing is, we already know that she can stop if she wants, because she already did that to win the golden ticket. And yeah, she is defensive about the perceived impoliteness of her hobby (like when her mother tries to shame her about her habit during a televised interview) but the obsession with candy and neglect of social norms is EXACTLY what Wonka is all about This is on brand. 5. Her misstep in the factory is reasonable. Wonka shows everyone a candy he's very proud of. Violet is like "oh sick, that's gum, my special interest." Wonka is then pulls a "WRONG! It's amazing guml So in the very moments before she takes the gum Wonka has mislead her just to belittle her. So when he's like I wouldn't do that" why should she give a shit what he has to say? She's not like Charlie over here who's al Sure Gramps, let's stay behind while the tour leaves and secretly drink this thing that has been explicitly stated to fill you with gas and is too powerful for safe consumption, oh and also I just saw what happened to Violet so I actually KNOW what this stuff can be capable of" Also, Violet is not selfish about her experience, she tells everyone what she's tasting and feeling, and everyone is eager to hear it. Taking a personal risk to share knowledge with everyone. Violet is Prometheus: fact. So Augustus contaminates the chocolate river. Charlie sneaks around and contaminates the vent walls. Veruca destroys and disrupts the workspace. Mike knows exactly what will happen to him and transports/shrinks himself deliberately. Violet had no idea what the gum could potentially do to her, and caused no harm to anyone or anything but herself Lastly: Can you imagine Charlie filling Wonka's shoes? That passive, naive boy? Violet is already basically Wonka. She's passionate sarcastic, candy-obsessed, free thinking, and a total firecracker. She's even better than Wonka, because she doesn't endanger others. Violet should've been picked to inherit the chocolate factory. Source: evayna #charlie and the chocolate factory 123,693 notes Blueberry Boss

The result was that they found my massacre to be in good form and in-character, so the server was not rolled back and instead they decided to reset and implement a new landmass they had been working on. Some people were really pissed off, mostly a handful of the veteran players who had been top dog for several years in their little gladiator arena. I only did any of it because my first character was murdered by some overzealous asshole who just used his character to project his inferiority complex. He killed me on my second day on the server because I wandered into the funeral of his friend (it was taking place in the middle of town and there was a crowd, of course I was curious) and because I was not invited and he was a known prick it was found justifiable for his character to kill mine because of the emotional turmoil blah blah. Just Do It, Memes, and Money: BELIEVE IN SOMETHING EVEN IF IT COSTS YOU EVERYTHING JUST DO IT. Nike, I loved your gear, but you exhaust my spirit on this one. Your new ad with Colin Kapernick, I get the message, but that sacrificing everything thing…. It just doesn’t play out here. Sacrificing what exactly? A career? I’ve done that both times I chose to stay home and be with my kids instead of continuing my business climb… and it wasn’t sacrificing everything. It was sacrificing one career and some money and it was because of what I believe in and more importantly, who I believe in. At best, that is all Colin sacrificed… some money and it’s debatable if he really lost his career over it. Maybe he sacrificed the respect of some people while he gained the respect of others. Or maybe he used one career to springboard himself into a different career when the first was waning. I don’t know. What I do know is, he gained popularity and magazine covers he likely wouldn’t have gotten without getting on his knees or as you say, “believing in something.” I’m also thinking the irony is that while I am not privy to the numbers, it’s likely he gained a lucrative Nike contract. So yeah… that whole “sacrificing everything” is insulting to those who really have sacrificed everything. You want to talk about someone in the NFL sacrificing everything? Pat Tillman. NFL STARTING, not benched, player who left to join the Army and died for it. THAT is sacrificing everything for something you believe in. How about other warriors? Warriors who will not be on magazine covers, who will not get lucrative contracts and millions of followers from their actions and who have truly sacrificed everything. They did it because they believed in something. Take it from me, when I say they sacrificed everything, they also sacrificed the lives of their loved ones who will never be the same. THAT is sacrificing everything for something they believe in. Did you get us talking? Yeah, you did. But, your brand recognition was strong enough. Did you teach the next generation of consumers about true grit? Not that I can see. (Continue in the comments) @chriskylefrog @tayakyle

Being Alone, Fake, and Family: APPAREL Do you see the kid on the left? More importantly do you see that grin on his face......what if I told you that was fake? In fact, what if I told you that picture was taken one week from being removed from my home and sent to live with my Aunt in Florida? You see that kid on the left knew what true helplessness felt like....he knew what it meant to feel lost, scared, depressed, and knew what it was like to feel like his life was already over before it even started. He even began to believe the lie that maybe just maybe the world would be better off without him in it. He lost his friends, his home, his girlfriend, and just about anything else you can imagine as a high school teenager..... You see the depression knows no age, race, gender, political or sexual preference....it is unbiased in that regard and it can touch anyone at any time that it wants. Yet even in his darkest times and darkest moments....when he was on a path to nothing and curious if he would ever amount to anything more than just that.....NOTHING! Proverbs 16:3 saved his life! Now, 14 years later, that broken shell of a boy has been heard by 1 BILLION people! He has been able to travel the world and meet tens of thousands of people asking him daily how to push through and what keeps him going?! Life is truly funny that way! The point? The point is simply this.....if you are struggling and if life truly seems like it is at its darkest and you feel lost, alone, or hopeless. Trust me when I say that where you are now is preparing you for where you need to go and who you need to be! You can go from the weakest to the strongest before you know it! Your life has VALUE and you MATTER more than you will ever know! So fight for what is to come! Not always what currently is! If a kid from nowhere MS and a broken home can make anything of himself....SO CAN YOU! To this day, I still struggle with feelings of being good enough or whether or not I should be here.....those feelings never truly go away. BUT I choose life and the journey that life is!!! Because trust IT IS WORTH IT!! So choose to fight....ALWAYS! -Graham🇺🇸 motivation throwbackthursday faith family life

Computers, Pressure, and School: arionwind: autismserenity: arionwind: autismserenity: ARE computers flammable? 1 feel like they're probably not? This depends entirely on how much uncooked rice you have shoved in the floppy drive Ok 1 feel like there's a story behind this There is, yes! After I quit school, I worked briefly as a computer repair tech. Going to people's houses or businesses, fixing their various bugs, etc. While I would rapidly decide that field was not for me because of the one businessman who needed mult know, you push that button and that plastic holder thing with the hole comes out 1 think it is technically call the "Cup Depository Tray CD, right?), he is not the most memorable encounter. No, that goes to one of the nicest ladies I ever encountered on this job iple cup holde eplacements (you She called us out because her computer had stopped turning on, and wouldn't even make a noise when she tried to push the button. One day it had just shut off while she was using it and stubbornly refused to come back on, and could we please see what we could do to fix it? So I go out there expecting some wire had gotten loose and there was no power getting to the machine or something. It happens sometimes if a machine gets banged around enough, or if someone fiddles with it wrong or is careless putting it together, computers are finicky like that But as soon as I get to the box itself, 1 know it isn't that simple, because of the smell. I have smelled computers with dust all up in them, that isn't uncommon, but this is just vile and, more importantly, entirely new. I am now more curious than afraid, so 1 open it up and there is a mass of goopy off-white mush spilling all over everything, parts of it are burnt to circuits, there is almost nothing untouched by the mass. But by far the worst off is the A drive. That is the obvious source of the problem, and the thing has not "exploded", but more burst from the pressure of whatever this stuff was So 1 ask the woman if she had used the floppy drive recently and noticed any problems, and she says no, not until the whole machine stopped working. But I come to find out what she used it for Turns out this woman was a devout Shinto practitioner and believed that her computer (among other things) had a soul that needed to be respected an honored. Which, fair enough. But she chose to honor it by feeding it a grain of rice every time she had to wake it up and disturb For years this kindhearted woman had been putting a grain of rice into the A driv from sleep mode. And eventually that was enough pressure to break the drive and start spilling out onto the internal bits, where the heat melted it all and caused no end of problems ime she turned it on or woke t iing u After that it was a simple enough thing to explain that there are better ways to honor and take care of your computer's needs, what with virus scans or defrags and the like, but t poor device was entirely lost. I guess the moral of the story here is that you can try your best to be good and still wind up hurting people? Maybe? Or else it's that even the most horrible out of context problem isn't nearly as frustrating as one middle aged jerk who won't freaking listen when you tell him that CD trays are not for your dang coffee cups! Bodies , Energy, and Fail: Don't worry about trying to impress men. Nature doesn't subscribe to beauty standards. You'll still get wifed. Your value extends beyond your spirit sack. Men are clowns and fail to live up to the standards they expect women's bodies to uphold Men are super horrible in my Instagram comments regarding my boobs being saggy but I didn't create myself so it's not my place to explain my body to anybody My boobs are actually pretty amazing. I can tuck my phone unde my tit and it doesn't drop. SAGGY BOOBS This just in: Gravity exists and causes breasts to sag! 🤯 All boobs are different. Some are perky. Most are saggy. Some boobs are more saggy than others. This is natural. Shaming people for having saggy boobs is shaming someone for something they have no control over. There is this idea of what the "perfect boobs" look like, and it makes pretty much everyone with breasts find a problem with how their breasts look: too big, too small, too asymmetrical, too perky, too saggy, etc. I am here to announce: It does not matter how your boobs look!!! Who gives a fuck how big or small or saggy or whatever they are?! There are soooo many more important things to focus your time and energy on than disliking parts of your body based on what society has decided is the "right" body. The kind of people shaming your breasts are the ones who don't deserve to be in your presence to begin with. I know it's very difficult to escape the societal pressure, but I highly encourage everyone to try to move past this and recognize that your boobs are awesome, and more importantly, YOU are awesome. Thank you @theslumflower for sharing this image and message! 💛
