beta-kindergarten: Because this is, for whatever reason being discussed again in the tags, here鈥檚 just another reminder to everyone, and especially to my fellow survivors who see themselves in Jasper: SU has /never/ been ambiguous regarding who was in control of malachite. It was undoubtedly Lapis up until SWI, and even then you could say she and Jasper were working together to fight the CGs. Abuse by definition NEEDS to have a power imbalance between the victim and abuser. Jasper was never allowed that power, while Lapis is always described as the one who was in control, therefore Lapis was the abuser and Jasper was the victim. Victims aren鈥檛 always good people. Jasper is very much a victim of circumstance, both from the war and from Malachite. Yes, she鈥檚 abusive, but towards the corrupted gems, and has yet to be given a chance to unlearn her toxic behaviors. She鈥檚 a messy victim, she鈥檚 aggressive and angry, and there are so many survivors who act like this; and guess what, they鈥檙e still victims. Having 鈥渦gly鈥 symptoms and feeling affection for your abuser does NOT make you the abuser of the relationship. It doesn鈥檛 undermine your abuse and certainly doesn鈥檛 justify it, no matter what vitriol this fandom tries to spew at you because you see Jasper as the victim. Abusers aren鈥檛 always going to be your enemy. They aren鈥檛 always going to be bigger than you, or physically stronger. They can be friends or family or 鈥渂each summer fun buddies鈥. They can be nice sometimes and absolutely terrible other times. And they can also have traumas of their own. This doesn鈥檛 change or excuse the fact that they鈥檙e abusive. Lapis is this kind of abuser. She was the one holding the chains, the one who acknowledges her own power (and fears being placed in positions of control because of it), and the one who regrets her decisions and is trying to stop being abusive. Frankly I don鈥檛 care about protagonist centered morality enough to even consider Steven鈥檚 point of view regarding Malachite. I don鈥檛 care what the CGs in the show have to say about the situation because regardless of how much of a 鈥渢errible鈥 person Jasper is, it鈥檚 presented clearly to us who was the one being held in chains against their will. I also cannot be bothered to care about your definitions of 鈥渓ashing out鈥 or, 鈥渟elf-blaming鈥. Lapis made her intentions painfully clear that this was for revenge and wanting to take out everything on someone. She doesn鈥檛 love the earth nor does she want to play nice with the CGs. So don鈥檛 even try to tell me this because I鈥檓 frankly just /tired/ of being reminded that you people don鈥檛 actually care about victims if our behaviors or coping mechanisms are 鈥渨rong鈥 to you. Also, of the 2 years that I鈥檝e been involved in this hell fandom I鈥檝e yet to see Jasper fans attack the inboxes or posts of Lapis fans to the same extent that the reverse has been done. Jasper fans don鈥檛 spread ugly rumors about Rebecca Sugar鈥檚 abuse history either, so it鈥檚 pretty ironic that WE鈥橰E the ones who condone abuse isn鈥檛 it? tl;dr: You鈥檙e honestly disgusting if you鈥檝e EVER tried to make a victim feel bad for liking Jasper, and I sincerely hope you grow up some day and learn that it鈥檚 not worth it to harm real people and survivors for the sake of a cartoon. And if you鈥檙e a victim who relates to Jasper, believe me when I say you aren鈥檛 alone and you aren鈥檛 a bad person. Keep doing you. 鉁岋笍: NEW EPISODE CN CARTOETw I WAS TERRIBLE TO YOU. is it that your can鈥檛 find any quotes to back up your thesis? impossible, tbh, you need to be more willing to purposefully misuse quotes (don鈥檛 do that). but the better option is to just change the thesis.聽 鈥渋 don鈥檛 even have that!!鈥 did you. do the reading? if you even just watched the movie, you probably have an opinion on something聽even if it鈥檚聽鈥渢his is bad.鈥 you can use that.聽use why you didn鈥檛 like it to write a hate-fueled examination on how whiny the main character is and why u think the author is trying to point out how miserable cis white boys are to deal with.聽 鈥渋 don鈥檛 have enough sources!!!鈥 go to wikipedia鈥檚 page about it and look @ the sources. try to like actually read some if you have time but frankly in a hurry a student (me) might be compelled to just slap the source in there.聽 鈥渉ow the fuck聽do i analyze this鈥. u know how ppl agonize over why an actor breathed in a scene. melt into that kind of thinking. you can literally force the words to mean whatever you want.聽i鈥檝e talked about word choice so specific that i based a 12-page essay on three separate uses of the words 鈥渕y dear鈥. i talked about the possessive聽鈥渕y鈥 and how it developed for like 5 of those pages. and always repeat the thesis like a million times. after every analysis you should talk about how it links to the thesis. that is like a free 3 sentences every paragraph. 鈥渋 did all that and it鈥檚 still 3 pages too short鈥 quick ways to Beef Him Up: definitions are great in research papers + essays bc you can talk about either word choice or like the definition of every process used in getting the data. also make the conclusion hella informative (it should answer聽鈥渨hat does this mean moving forwards鈥 most of the time, tie it into modern life or into the past). thicken ur intro with聽鈥渉ere鈥檚 a quote from this guy about it and what he personally felt about acid-base titrations鈥, use a paragraph to talk about the history of the data/book, use a paragraph to talk about the modern reception of the data/book. also look for where you can use two words instead of one even tho like grammatically don鈥檛 do that. worst comes to worst, brevity is the soul of wit. most teachers prefer concise over rambling and all over the place. if you choose to scoot under the page limit, tho, your writing etc needs to be exceptionally聽clean. frankly i鈥檝e only done this once and it was terrifying make computer read it aloud 2 u before u submit.聽鈥渞aquel鈥.. i can鈥檛 look at it anymore鈥. you鈥檙e not looking @ it, you鈥檙e discovering you wrote聽鈥渂reath鈥 not聽鈥渂reathe鈥 and u need to change it tutoring centers exist, i worked in one, and this is how i know they actually Help and have Good Ideas ask about extra credit and do it tbh good luck鈥. breathe. and remember u are astronomically more important than a grade could ever be. do you have trouble writing words on paper but you know what you want to say? because that鈥檚 my personal form of useless perfectionism. like, you can tell your friend all about what you鈥檙e planning on writing, and talk about it for like 20 minutes straight? make notes for imaginary slides for an imaginary presentation on the topic oops you have an outline now! your imaginary slides? paragraphs (or if ur paper is long af, each imaginary bullet point is a paragraph and each imaginary slide is a couple pages) credit for this tip goes to my therapist. thanks amy. u solved paper writing for me and at least seven of my friends Partial credit is better than no credit at all. Only have 5 pages the day it鈥檚 due? TURN IT IN. It鈥檚 better than a zero if the teacher won鈥檛 work with you on an extension or late work
