O índice de leitura, apesar de ligeira melhora, indica que o brasileiro lê apenas 4,96 livros por ano – desses, 0,94 são indicados pela escola e 2,88 lidos por vontade própria. Do total de livros lidos, 2,43 foram terminados e 2,53 lidos em partes. A média anterior era de 4 livros lidos por ano. Os dados foram revelados na tarde desta quarta-feira, 18, e integram a quarta edição da Pesquisa Retratos da Leitura no Brasil. Realizada pelo Ibope por encomenda do Instituto Pró-Livro, entidade mantida pelo Sindicato Nacional dos Editores de Livros (Snel), Câmara Brasileira do Livro (CBL) e Associação Brasileira de Editores de Livros Escolares (Abrelivros), a pesquisa ouviu 5.012 pessoas, alfabetizadas ou não, mesma amostra da pesquisa passada. Isso representa, segundo o Ibope, 93% da população brasileira. Para a pesquisa, é leitor quem leu, inteiro ou em partes, pelo menos 1 livro nos últimos 3 meses. Já o não leitor é aquele que declarou não ter lido nenhum livro nos últimos 3 meses, mesmo que tenha lido nos últimos 12 meses. A Bíblia é o livro mais lido, em qualquer nível de escolaridade. O livro religioso, aliás, aparece em todas as listas: últimos livros lidos, livros mais marcantes. 74% da população não comprou nenhum livro nos últimos três meses. Entre os que compraram livros em geral por vontade própria, 16% preferiram o impresso e 1% o e-book. Um dado alarmante: 30% dos entrevistados nunca comprou um livro. Para 67% da população, não houve uma pessoa que incentivasse a leitura em sua trajetória, mas dos 33% que tiveram alguma influência, a mãe, ou representante do sexo feminino, foi a principal responsável (11%), seguida pelo professor (7%).
