Bad, Click, and Friends: Anonymous said why can't muslims tell other muslims to stop killing people? thebootydiaries: thebootydiaries: It’s a breezy summer day and the rustling from the leaves outside sound like whispers from my small apartment. I’m sitting in front of my laptop, silently studying the 1.6 billion faces speaking simultaneously in front of me. It’s Monday, the day of the weekly conference call between all Muslims. We have been required to attend this Skype meeting from the the tender age of fetus, but I had never spoken in one of them before.  That changes today.  “Hey guys, what if…” I start to say.  Nobody hears me, but I refuse to be silent. How could I show my face again on Tumblr if I couldn’t even save my mayonnaise friends from death? How could I expect to earn their respect? Anon was right; why hadn’t I done this before? Thousands of lives had paid the price for my ignorance, but not anymore. “What if you guys….. stopped killing people.“  Suddenly, silence.  1,643,398,023 pairs of eyes are on me. My heart is in my throat as the ISIS leader gives me a blank expression.  A single tear rolls down my cheek. Please.” I say with a broken voice.  He is moved.  “Aight”. My fingers are almost shaking as I carefully type in the ten digit phone number I have had memorized my entire life. The buttons on my home phone seem to glow a bit more dull, and even the ringing of the phone from the other end seems to be agonized, almost as if the world is telling me to hang up. But I refuse to give up; I can’t let my lily-white friends down. Not again. The phone rings once. Twice. Three times. Still no answer. Just as I am about to hang up, there is a click. All I can hear is heavy breathing.“Hello….” I say quietly, my voice shaking. “Is….. Is this Muslim?”There was a long silence before I heard a voice answer “ya lol.”“I was thinking………..” I begin cautiously. “Maybe murder is…………bad.”“Habibi, I…..I don’t understand. What are you trying to say….?” The voice seems shaken.“What if…….world peace is good and killing people is…………not good”He lets out an audible gasp. “Are you saying ISIS is…….bad?”“Maybe death is…….not good.” I continue. My heart is racing. I remind myself that I am saving thousands of lives, and inhale. The silence from the other end of the line is almost deafening. He seemed to be thinking, as if he had never considered this idea before in his life. Truly I had opened his heart and his mind. This…. This could end terrorism.“Muslim….Please.” I whisper.I hear a tear roll down his cheek, with my Muslim Communication Hearing™, and hold my breath as he finally breathes out his next words.“Kk.”

Children, Comfortable, and Food: "Travel isnit always pretty It isn't always comfortable Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that's okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memorY, Your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind." Anthony Bourdain June 25, 1956 June 8, 2018 aliofbabylon: “I used to believe that the human race as a whole was basically a few steps above wolves. That given the slightest change in circumstances, we would all, sooner or later, tear each other to shreds. That we were, at root, self-interested, cowardly, envious and potentially dangerous in groups. I have since come to believe — after many meals with many different people in many, many different places — that though there is no shortage of people who would do us harm, we are essentially good. That the world is, in fact, filled with mostly good and decent people who are simply doing the best they can. Everybody, it turns out, is proud of their food (when they have it). They enjoy sharing it with others (if they can). They love their children. They like a good joke. Sitting at the table has allowed me a privileged perspective and access that others, looking principally for “the story,” do not, I believe, always get. People feel free, with a goofy American guy who has expressed interest only in their food and what they do for fun, to tell stories about themselves — to let their guard down, to be and to reveal, on occasion, their truest selves. … People, wherever they live, are not statistics. They are not abstractions. … I’m not saying that sitting down with people and sharing a plate is the answer to world peace. Not by a long shot. But it can’t hurt.” - Anthony Bourdain

Af, America, and Apparently: FOX NEWS .com Twisted Ivy: Harvard students say US bigger threat to world peace than ISIS Published October 08, 2014| FoxNews.com CAMPUS REFORM They got most of their SAT questions right, but students at Harvard blew this lay-up posed by the college blog Campus Reform: Who is the bigger threat to world peace, ISIS or the U.S.? Various students at the hallowed Ivy League school said they believe that America, not the Muslim fanatics who behead innocent people, is the biggest threat to world peace. The students were interviewed on the quad by Campus Reform on Saturday, and the shocking video was posted on Tuesday As a Westem evization were to b taot af he pratwe'e facing now," one student said during an interview. "I don't think anyone would argue that we didn't create the problem of ISIS, ourselves." Most of the other students interviewed shared the same sentiment- that ISIS would not exist had it not been for the past actions of the U.S. American imperialism and our protection of oil interests in the Middle East are destabilizing the region and allowing groups like ISIS to gain power," said another student. Caleb Bonham, editor of Campus Reform, conducted the interviews and said that the students' response is nothing new. "This video demonstrates the absurdity behind the bash America fad," Bonham told FoxNews.com. "Unfortunately, too many students think it is intellectual to try and piece together a reason why America is a greater threat than this terrorist organization trying to establish a caliphate through public executions, bombings and beheadings zarekthelordofthefries: writingfail: thebaconsandwichofregret: lizzysmart: sandandglass: Fox News shocked that Harvard students think the US is a greater threat to world peace than ISIS. Students who don’t agree with Fox are ‘twisted’, elitist and wrong apparently.  Source Next Gen STAND UP Did they miss the part where these kids said that ISIS wouldn’t exist without Imperialist intervention in areas like the Middle East? (I’m not singling out America because I’m British and we’ve been fucking up the world since long before America has) I love how the Harvard students give strong arguments on why the U.S. (and its allies, of course, such as Canada and Western Europe) is one of the biggest threats to world peace and all Fox News can say is “this–this is just a FAD” I think it’s really notable that their answers inherently understand the question itself moreso than Fox does, too. The question isn’t “who are the worse people” or something, it’s “who causes the biggest threat to world peace.” It’s clear that Fox doesn’t even understand what they’re asking since their only argument for ISIS being the bigger threat to world peace is that they behead people. Like, yeah, beheading people is really fucking bad, but that doesn’t mean any serial killer who’s ever beheaded anyone is a major threat to world peace. They don’t grasp that it’s the systemic power of these forces and their historical abuse of that power that makes them threats, and that no moral or philosophical ideology will make the US a lesser threat to world peace (but of course they don’t fuckin get that power is the most important factor, they’re fuckin fascists).
