 Well, if someone calls someone a space cadet, you
 understand that they don't mean that the person is fit
 to be an astronaut? l only use this example to
 establish that you can use something that isn't
 technically an insult as an insult.
 Further, it (can be) dehumanizing. As if you aren't
 really a person, you're just a trekkie. They aren't using
 your given name, you're just boiled down to being
 some stereotypical nerd, geek, dweeb, lonely
 basement-dwelling virgin
 Bonus points if the person knows that you don't even
 like Star Trek, because not only are you being
 stereotyped and dehumanized, the person is going
 out of their way to intentionally mischaracterize who
 you are
 It's really not much different than being called a Nazi,
 because in doing so, a person doesn't mean you share
 the political views of the Nationalist Socialist party in
 1930s-1940s. They mean you're a racist, bigoted,
 anti-semite fascist etc.
