Advice, Bad, and Cars: galexion: missanthrory: deathcomes4u: frommetrunui: frommetrunui: scaliefox: post-office-box-847: scaliefox: diarrheaworldstarhiphop: This is a serious issue though. Ferrai has this bullshit agreement that if you buy one of their cars new off the lot, you have to sign a contract saying you basically don’t own the car and have to uphold their brand standards with it. It’s sets a startling example of not owning something despite buying it and the court needs to use this as a chance to strike it down as unethical. This shit again? And I thought it was bad enough with ford and john deer telling farmers they didn’t own the tractors they bought from them…. Yeah, they have this really unethical clause in the purchase contract you can’t modify the car or do anything with it that they’d consider “unbecoming of the brand”, which is why they were able file this suit. It seems kind of bizarre at first until you realize how horrifying that is in the age of “do you own what you buy?” being a huge a debate (especially in tech). This is pretty much Ferrari’s philosophy from the start, they are extremely prideful of their cars like if they were made from God’s hands or something. They are very snobby, infact the owner of Ferrari doesn’t like the people who buy their cars since because they are bought for “status”. They also never test their cars on public tracks in comparison with other racing cars like when they wanted to test out the Porche 918 Spyder vs The McLaren P1 vs LaFerrari. Take a guess who bailed out on the performance test. Just an update Lambo are the perfect people to jump in on this because they make insane cars and they are never above clowning them up because Lambo are all about THE DRAMA ™ It’s worth noting that Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of the company originally only made tractors. His company became successful and at some point he bought a Ferrari, but had a complaint with the car. He ended up taking this complaint to Enzo Ferrari, himself, who told the man he did not take advice from a mere tractor maker. Four months later the first Lamborghini sports was birthed out of pure spite. I’d like to this somewhere he’s enjoying this immensely.  FUCKING P U R R A R I

And I’ll tell you why.  Natalie Portman, as we know, was shut out of Marvel. She chose not to sign any new contract not just because of the way her character was treated (though there is that) but because Thor: The Dark World was slated to be the first Marvel movie directed by a woman, her friend (and eventual Wonder Woman director) Patty Jenkins. Portman hadn’t planned on being in The Dark World, but lept at the chance to be a part of feminist history and to be directed in what would have beenJenkin’s first film since her 2003 Oscar-winning Monster. Portman signed a new contract with Marvel. They fired Jenkins soon after. Portman was crushed because she essentially had been duped into a contract for a film that would keep her away from her young son and force her back into a one-dimensional role under yet another male director. And we all remember how awful that movie was.  When it came time for the third Thor movie, they tried to get Portman under contract again. And she said no. Marvel decided to spin the story to make it seem like it was all their idea. At first, they went for the lame and nonsensical:  When Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked about why she wouldn’t be in the third film, and said there were “many reasons, many of which are in the film, so you will see that” continuing with “There are only a couple of scenes on Earth in this movie. The majority, 95 percent of the movie, takes place in the cosmos.” (x) Seeing as The Dark World also took place in space, this answer didn’t have a lot of credibility. When Portman said she was “done” with the Marvel Universe, Feige got vicious in interviews, telling reporters that Valkyrie was in Ragnorak to be better than Jane Foster and a better match for Thor.  “We wanted Thor to encounter somebody that was near his equal and that his relationship with Jane may have evolved in unexpected ways in between The Dark World and Ragnarok, and we wanted to pit him against a character who was much more his equal and in many ways his superior.” (x) Feige implies that A) Valkyrie was in Ragnorak just to be a romantic interest for Thor, B) Valkyrie is better and more powerful than Jane Foster, and C) Jane Foster was always Thor’s inferior.  What’s ridiculous is that Ragnorak had a “sorry Jane dumped you” throwaway line to explain Portman’s absence. And instead of saying that Jane and Thor broke up in interviews, a line that does not spoil literally anything about the film, Feige chose to attack Jane’s strength and capability, which would have been a very special dig at Portman.  Do you want to know what none of this sounds like? Taika Waititi’s opinion. Waititi is a master storyteller who does not sacrifice his feminist views for laughs. You can bet that Feige’s ridiculous slams on Portman and her character Jane– disguised as “promotion” for WAITITI’S FILM– would have troubled him immensely. This is a man with a Māori father, who had to use his mother’s maiden name– Cohen– for earlier work because an indigenous last name kept him away from opportunity. This man does NOT fuck around with entertainment that gets its power off of sexism and inequality. He knows from experience just how infuriating it is when it comes to directors missing out on opportunities because they aren’t a white man.  So how does he fix this? How does he fix the idea that Jane Foster can’t go to space, or that she’s not powerful enough for Thor, the god of thunder?  He makes her Thor.  Waititi saw Portman / Jane Foster’s name dragged through the mud by Kevin Feige in order to promote his movie, and when he got hired to direct again, he decided to right those wrongs. This picture means everything. He is on his knee, handing her Thor’s hammer, essentially saying, you will never have to go through that shit with me. With me, you’re a god. And the expression on her face, after Marvel attempted to break her, doesn’t need words.  What a photo. What a film. What a man.

Because Trump wants to keep the USA 🇺🇸 Safe & secure from the corruption and crime of South America doesn’t make him a racist. You are right, I am not a Mexican, and neither are you. The real Mexicans aren’t fleeing Mexico, they are actually fighting for their country and protesting against the invaders just like the majority of Americans are. I find it funny that a low grade educated individual as yourself believe the garbage you spew. Donald Trump is a billionaire who owns more than 500 companies , has made immensely great wealth by hard work and excellent business deals . Now be a good Mexican and go join the real Mexicans in Mexico and fight for your own motherland like Americans are fighting for theirs. (The picture on the right is the Nationalist Mexicans who are protesting against the invaders from South America invading their country, an image you won’t see in the news) who are the real Mexicans???! I was born in Cuba, the country that gave me birth but I was adopted by the USA legally and I am now an American 🇺🇸 I am not a Cuban American, I am an American 🇺🇸 I have honorably served in the US Marines and earned the title Marine. I have signed the dotted line and made an oath to give my life in defense of our constitution against enemies foreign and domestic. The USA Is my motherland now.

Animals, Beautiful, and Cats: lackadaisycats: St. Louis Area Cats - these two urgently need adoption, rescue or foster. Hey all.  I’m sorry to spam you with non-comic stuff. I try not to do this too routinely, but sometimes I can’t not. Shelter Friends works very hard to network and get cats and dogs out of the municipal animal control shelter here. They work so hard, in fact, they’ve effectively turned this former high kill rate shelter into a no-kill shelter for the past 5 years running.  Unfortunately, adoptions have been very slow this season, nearby rescues have issued an intake freeze, and these two beautiful cats might fall victim to the situation on October 30th. They’re on the euthanasia list. It’s rather an emergency.  - Bronte (top) is a shy, sweet adult female who loooves meal time.   Here’s a video of her.  - Charlie (bottom) is a bit of both worlds - he’s got some loner edge, but he can     be the very affectionate life of the party when he feels like it too.   A video of him being very lovey. Both are FeLV/FIV negative and up to date on shots. Neither seem to be super-fans of other cats (no attacking - just hissing and hiding), but a noisy, chaotic shelter is the least ideal place to see a cat’s real personality shine, so there’s every chance they’d adjust and thrive in a moderately quiet home with other animals. If you are in or around the St. Louis area and might have some room in your home and heart for Bronte or Charlie, please reach out to Shelter Friends!(314) 750-7979info@shelter-friends.com Reblogs are immensely appreciated! pləasə adopt thəsə babiəs!!!

I’m living through it. Not only are schools closing, hospitals are collapsing. Only around 9% of the island has electricity and it comes and goes at times. People are dying in hospitals because of lack of diesel for the generators, a lot of the water is now infected, there are disease outbreaks and scareceness of food. I am safe, but many are not. Some have water, others don’t. We need help. Sending money would be helpful but what would help even more would be sending water filters, filtering water bottles, food, medicine, if somehow possible diesel. All of you reblogging this news helps, but what we need is physical help. If you can’t, then spread the word, but God if you can send supplies… Please… PLEASE do. We are dying. Help us, help us save ourselves. Help us save our people. Help us save out ISLAND. Reblogging You know, every time Puerto Rico comes up I’m reminded of a comment my dad made in a discussion about it, in response to someone claiming that the PR situation is terrible but oh well, what can we do? They’re SO far away after all and the logistic problems are SO hard. He said, “When the Soviets blockaded the city of Berlin in 1948, America flew in to West Berlin enough supplies to keep the city going by airdrop for over a year. Puerto Rico today isn’t much bigger than Berlin was then, and America has grown immensely in wealth and power since that day. The problem isn’t lack of resources, it’s lack of will.” Nothing about what’s happening to Puerto Rico (and still happening) is inevitable in any way. This is deliberate. Don’t forget it.

80s, America, and Anime: When Japan is exposed to Western culture DARK SOULS COWBOY BEBOP TRIGUN BONUS IN PlayStation, SPAR MNTENDO Medum level When the West is exposed to Japanese culture nanga THIS EAS THE 0 lemonwicky: jaxblade: cari28ch3-me: mymahoushoujo: rip-roaring-muffin: everyonelovesrobots: where is the lie though? It’s a lie of omission. You’re comparing highly polished mainstream examples of iconic Japanese media to low budget, indie, and amateur american works. If you wanted to be fair the second image should look more like this: The cultural exchange between American and Japanese art, particularly in animation, is hardly a one way streak. Here we have Panty and Stocking, which boasts an artistic style that draws heavily upon modern western animation with it’s hard outlines and comical proportions. Shows like Dexter’s Laboratory barrow dynamic posses, dramatic framing, and highly expressive faces form anime and manga. Early anime and manga developed it’s distinct big eyes and childlike features by taking cues from western animation of the 20′s and 30′s Betty Boop, in particular, was immensely popular in Japan. Her creators even made this short in appreciation of her Japanese fan-base. WAIT I CAN ADD TO THIS ALREADY OBSCENELY LONG POST. The entire Magical Girl genre is a big example of Western (primarily U.S.) and Japanese cultural exchange! BeWitched (which was inspired by the 1940′s American movie “I Married a Witch”) was incredibly popular with young girls! This prompted the creation of the first popular Magical Girl Sally the Witch. When the “Little Witch” Subgenre was big in the 70s the U.S. countered with animated Sabrina (from the Archie comics) which followed the same formula albeit with an older girl. The 80s we start seeing more “flash of light” henshins/transformations being utilized along with the rise of the “Magical Idol” sub-genre in Japan it gave birth to shows like Creamy Mami and Magical Emi, in the U.S. it made way for Jem and the Holograms and She-Re Princess of Power (not a magical idol but still uses “flash of light” transformations). Jem was even a collab with U.S. doing the writing and Japan doing the animation! The “Magical Warrior” sub-genre emerges in the 90s (even tho it has roots in the 70s with shows like Cutie Honey). This doesn’t catch on in America until the early 00′s with Atomic Betty (Canadian creation) and The Life and Times of Juniper Lee but we did see the start of it with the Canadian/Argentinian collab called Cyber Six. We also get W.I.T.C.H. and WINX Club in the early 00s from Italy which are both probably the most heavily influenced from Japan’s then current MG show structure. Today we have Steven Universe, Bee and Puppycat, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Lolirock, The Miraculous Ladybug, and if it gets picked up Twelve Forever which are all great Western MG shows that are influenced by Japan! I could go on, I haven’t even scraped the ice berg on this! I have a whole hour panel I run on this subject called “Magical Girls from Around The World” The point is the Magical Girl genre- and tbh animation in general- has been Japan and America (with some other Western countries thrown in) talking back and forth since the 60s. I leave you with probably the most direct influence: can I add to this that Osamu Tezuka aka “the God of modern Manga” was inspired by Bambi  into deciding to give big eyes to his drawings so that they would look more expresive. He also remained a big fan of a certain Jewish American animator until his death, oh yeah this guy Walt Disney himself was also intrested in Tezuka’s work, with Astroboy being one of his favorites. A similar case exists now between John Lasseter (Pixar and Disney fame) and Hayao Miyasaki (Studio Ghibli) who are big fans of each other’s work. Japan and America are less of a competition to those who work on it and more of an inspiration, it is very often the fans and not the creators who create rivalries between people that would be friends in real life. SWEET JESUS HALLELUJAH THIS SITE CAN PRODUCE SOME GOOD I LOVE POSTS LIKE THESE.
