solacekames: When the gunman advanced toward the mosque, killing those in his path, Abdul Aziz didn’t hide. Instead, he picked up the first thing he could find, a credit card machine, and ran outside screaming “Come here!” Aziz, 48, is being hailed as a hero for preventing more deaths during Friday prayers at the Linwood mosque in Christchurch after leading the gunman in a cat-and-mouse chase before scaring him into speeding away in his car. But Aziz, whose four sons and dozens of others remained in the mosque while he faced off with the gunman, said he thinks it’s what anyone would have done. The gunman killed 49 people after attacking two mosques in the deadliest mass shooting in New Zealand’s modern history. […] He said he could hear his two youngest sons, aged 11 and 5, urging him to come back inside. The gunman returned, firing. Aziz said he ran, weaving through cars parked in the driveway, which prevented the gunman from getting a clean shot. Then Aziz spotted a gun the gunman had abandoned and picked it up, pointed it and squeezed the trigger. It was empty. He said the gunman ran back to the car for a second time, likely to grab yet another weapon. “He gets into his car and I just got the gun and threw it on his window like an arrow and blasted his window,” he said. The windshield shattered: “That’s why he got scared.” He said the gunman was cursing at him, yelling that he was going to kill them all. But he drove away and Aziz said he chased the car down the street to a red light, before it made a U-turn and sped away. Online videos indicate police officers managed to force the car from the road and drag out the suspect soon after. Originally from Kabul, Afghanistan, Aziz said he left as a refugee when he was a boy and lived for more than 25 years in Australia before moving to New Zealand a couple of years ago.“I’ve been to a lot of countries and this is one of the beautiful ones,” he said. And, he always thought, a peaceful one as well. Aziz said he didn’t feel fear or much of anything when facing the gunman. It was like he was on autopilot. And he believes that Allah didn’t think it was his time to die. : When gunman advanced on New Zealand mosque, this man ran at him Abdul Aziz, 48, is being hailed as a hero for preventing more deaths The Associated Press Posted: Mar 16, 2019 6:54 AM ET Last Updated: an hour ago Abdul Aziz, 48, is being hailed as a hero for preventing more deaths during Friday prayers at the Linwood mosque in Christchurch. Sisters these days spend more time planning their wedding in their head and all they dream or ask for is shopping, matching jwellery with gown, wedding planner, function, party, DJ & parlour packages! So much effort for a single day (wedding) but not enough preparation for the rest of their lives (marriage). . My sisters, marriage is not about dolling yourself up with icing suger or taking photos with glossy pout & seductive postures. Marriage is really not about food, functions, gifts, honeymoon, excitement and romance. . Marriage is about struggle, commitment, acceptance, trust, appreciation, compassion & compatibility. . It's that struggle which Hawa عليه السلام faced together with her husband to win Allah's heart to make their place in Jannah. . It is that appreciation which Hajra عليه السلام showed on Ibrahim عليه السلام decision to leave her alone with the child on Safa & her humble conviction. . Marriage is that compassion which Bibi Rahima (pbuh) had towards Ayyub عليه السلام that everyone abandoned Him but she served Him until He got cured. . Marriage is that trust which Khadiza رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰعنها had on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when everyone rejected Him. . It is the acceptance that Sawda-bint-Zam'a presented to Rasool ﷺ & His children with her warm heart. . It is that commitment & loyalty which Ayesha رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰعنها had with Rasool ﷺ that She starved with Him for months but never complained for once. She fulfilled her duties as such that she spread Deen of Rasool when He passed out. . It is the compatibility-harmony that Fatima رضي الله ﺗﻌﺎﻟﯽٰعنها shared with Ali رضي الله عنه inspite of their hardships & sufferings. . Marriage is all about deep sense of duties and responsibilities through which our love reflects from every angle & this is what we learn from our Mothers. . Wallahi, none of our Mothers had a grand wedding, engagement ceremony or a big reception party but they'd blessed marriage bcoz they're successful to be betterhalf of their husbands in true sense. So sisters, be like ur Mother, prepare urself as a woman to be worth marrying & ask Allah for a blessed Marriage not for a romantic fantasy. . Husband Have you prayed Asr? Wife No Husband Why? Wife I got back from work tired a bit so I took me a nap. Husband Ok... Go pray Asr and Maghrib before its time for Isha. The next day... the husband leaves town on a business trip... But a few hours after his flight was scheduled to arrive he didn't call or even her like he usually does to let her know that he had arrived safely..!! The wife calls to check up on her husband but he doesn't pick up.. She calls again; the phone rings but no reply what so ever. She was starting to get worried after many attempts of calling her beloved husband and no reply at all... She thinks to herself something must have went wrong he never does that. He always calls as soon as he lands. A few hours pass by... and suddenly the phone rings and its the husband. Wife all worried says have you arrived safely?? Husband Yes, Alhamdulillah. Wife When? Husband About 4 hours ago. Wife in an angered tone 4 hours ago? And you don't call? Husband I was tired so decided to take a nap. Wife A few minutes wouldn't have hurt you if you were to call me and let me know you'v arrived... Plus haven't you heard the phone ringing over and over again as I was calling you..?? Husband Yes, I heard it.. Wife And you don't pick up..?? What are my calls not important enough for you..?? Husband You're calls are important to me, but yesterday you didn't seem to mind not answering the calls of Athan.. Allah's call... Wife with watery eyes and after a short silence says Yes, you have a point.. I'm sorry.. Husband Why are you apologizing to me? You should seek Allah's forgiveness and don't repeat the same mistake twice. All what I want out of this world is that Allah unites us both in a palace in Jannah where in it we can start our eternal life together. Ever since that day the wife never delayed any of her prayers. Oh Allah, The Lord of all the worlds, The Compassionate, The Merciful, The Ruler of the Reckoning Day, You alone do we worship, and You alone do we ask for help. You created us out from nothing into what we're today and you know that we have done enough damage to ourselves seeking wrong dreams, wrong passions, wrong desires and wrong path. Oh Allah, we're so lost, so guide us on the straight path, the path of those who have received Your grace; not the path of those who have brought down wrath, nor of those who wander astray. The acceptance of dua on Friday On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) it is related that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) talked about Friday and said, “There is such an hour on Friday that if any Muslm makes dua (supplication) in it, his dua will definitely be accepted.” And He (Peace be upon him) pointed out the shortness of that time with his hands. [Bukhari and Muslim] Ya Allah... Forgive our sins, our indiscretions, our mistakes which we have done either deliberately or in innocence... Ya Allah...
