Children, Chris Brown, and Dumb: U.S. NEWS SNAPBACK OVER SNAP AD Mar 15 Snapchat featured an advertisement asking users if they would rather "slap Rihanna" or "punch Chris Brown.' Snapchat featured an advertisement for the Would You Rather game that asked users if they would “rather slap Rihanna” or “punch Chris Brown.” Users expressed their distaste of the ad, and Snapchat responded with an apology. Snapchat took down the ad and told BBC,“the advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware. We are sorry that this happened.” ____ Rihanna was not pleased with their apology and made a statement on her Instagram stories. “Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess!, “I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to [domestic violence] victims and made a joke of it!!! This isn’t about my personal feelings, cause I don’t have much of them…but all the women, children, and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet…you let us know! Shame on you.” ___ Photo: Twitter

Facebook, Family, and Memes: Dog Dies After United Airlines Flight Attendant Forced It Into Overhead Bin During Fight @balleralert Dog Dies After United Airlines Flight Attendant Forced It Into Overhead Bin During Flight - blogged by @msJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Tragedy struck on Monday after a United Airlines flight attendant forced a dog into an overhead bin during a flight from Houston to New York’s LaGuardia Airport. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to the New York Post, a passenger on the flight brought the incident to light after the dog died. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I want to help this woman and her daughter. They lost their dog because of an @united flight attendant,” Maggie Gremminger wrote on Twitter with a photo of the dog’s owners. “My heart is broken.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Although the pup was in a TSA-approved pet carrier, the flight attendant insisted that the woman store the dog in the overhead bin for the rest of the flight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “There was no sound as we landed and opened his kennel,” another passenger wrote on Facebook. “There was no movement as his family called his name. I held her baby as the mother attempted to resuscitate their 10-month-old puppy.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The airline has since addressed the incident in a statement to The Points Guy, saying, “This was a tragic accident that should never have occurred, as pets should never be placed in the overhead bin. We assume full responsibility for this tragedy and express our deepest condolences to the family and are committed to supporting them. We are thoroughly investigating what occurred to prevent this from ever happening again.”

A portion of the money will be held in a trust for her 4-year-old daughter, who witnessed the brutal murder on July 6, 2016. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Although the agreement still needs to be approved by the court, the settlement will resolve Reynolds’ claims of emotional distress and false arrest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “While no amount of money can change what happened, bring Philando back, or erase the pain that my daughter and I continue to suffer, I do hope that closing this chapter will allow us to get our lives back and move forward,” Reynolds said in a statement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to reports, the settlement comes just months after Castile’s mother settled for more than $2 million in a wrongful death suit of her son. The settlement also comes just months after Yanez, who shot Castile several times after he informed the officer that he had a firearm, was found not guilty of second-degree manslaughter.

Memes, New York, and Taken: Hundreds of immigrants will get to resubmit DACA renewals originally rejected as "late" It's the Trump administration's biggest reversal on immigration policy to date. Updated by Dara Lind | dara@vox.com | Nov 16, 2017, 11:43am EST Y TWEET SHARE 🚨 IMPORTANT DACA SHARE Many immigrants who did everything right to reapply for one last round of protection under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — but missed the deadline due to circumstances beyond their control — are going to get another chance after reporting by Vox and others about how unfairly the administration enforced the deadline. The Trump administration initially claimed that 4,000 immigrants missed the October 5 deadline to apply for one last two-year extension of protections under the DACA program, which the administration announced in September would be shut down over the next six months (with an official end date of March 5, 2018). But reporting in recent days by Vox and the New York Times showed that an untold number of those applications had been mailed well in advance of the deadline — and had been delayed due to a mysterious weeks-long Postal Service slowdown, or had been dropped in a US Citizenship and Immigration Services mailbox on October 5 but not picked up by a courier service until the next day. On Wednesday night, the Department of Homeland Security announced that those DACA recipients will be allowed to reapply for renewal. The Trump administration isn’t guaranteeing that these applications will be approved. But it’s at least agreeing to consider applications it had previously rejected out of hand. That could mean another two years of protection from deportation for hundreds, maybe even thousands, of immigrants. And it marks the first major reversal on immigration policy from an administration that has generally taken pride in its hardline stance. USCIS will contact some immigrants who were affected — but others will have to contact the government themselves
