America, Bless Up, and Children: We don't have kids, so my wife and I took our dog around to look at lights in the neighborhood. He was in awe I met a former hotel executive last year. Nice British gentleman, polished, funny, quietly brilliant (obviously - running an internationally recognized hotel chain is no walk in the park). He came to America (Los Angeles). He was directed to the immigration office. He presented an English passport. He was told to come back the next day. He did. The immigration office tendered him a green card. That was it. So began the story of a man who came to America on a whim and built a company that continues to employ tens of thousands of Americans at all levels of income and has handed Uncle Sam millions (if not billions) of tax dollars. This is nothing if not the American Dream. Last week, a 7-year-old Guatemalan girl died, hours after she was taken into Border Patrol custody. Out of respect, the media will not report her name, so I will honor her by calling her Maria. Maria died of septic shock and dehydration. Before Maria’s death, her body temperature was measured at 105.7 degrees. The treatment to which my hotelier pal was afforded by this country in the 1950s was a bit different from the treatment Maria and many others showing up at our border experience. We are a great country. We have great people working for our federal government. We have been great in the past and we will be great in the future but God is sending us a message. Like children who die in classrooms of gun violence, children like Maria who die painful deaths trying to get to the promised land of America are examples upon which we must reflect. And we must change. We can do better. We simply have to. Bless up.

Anaconda, Ass, and Donkey: Yesterday at 8:17 AM Ok. Storytime: this is kinda long but PLEASE READ. It's about my experience last night with these fucking border patrol agents. Last night, I rode the greyhound bus from Bakersfield to Las Vegas to visit family. When we got to the California/Nevada state line, as always, there's a checkpoint. (This checkpoint USED to be one where they made sure you weren't carrying fruits into California, bc of an invasive fruit fly species) Anyway... The bus driver makes an announcement: "We are being boarded by Border Patrol. Please be prepared to show your documentation upon request". WAIT. WHAT THE FUCK? So you know I'm ready to act an ASS. I stand up and say LOUDLY I stand up and say LOUDLY: THIS IS A VIOLATION OF YOUR 4TH AMENDMENT RIGHTS. YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHOW THEM *SHIT*! This is illegal. We are not within 100 miles of an international border so that have NO authority to ask you for ANYTHING. TELL THEM TO FUCK OFF! And, Since my Spanish sucks, I Google translated how to say that in Spanish and repeated myself: Esto es una violación de los derechos de su cuarta enmienda. ¡No tienes que mostrarles nada! Esto es ilegal No cumples, y no tengas miedo. Están equivocados, y no dejaremos pasar esto The lady next to me did not speak English. She looked terrified. I reassured her that I had her back. The agents get on. Proceed to announce that they are about to start asking for "documentation" from people. I Stand up and yell "I'm not showing you shit! 'm not drivina this his so vou have NO The agents get on. Proceed to announce that they are about to start asking for "documentation" from people. I Stand up and yell "I'm not showing you shit! I'm not driving this bus, so you have NO RIGHT to ask me for anything! And the rest of you guys don't have to show them anything, either! This is harassment and racial profiling! Don't show them a gotdamn thing! We are not within 100 miles of a border so they have NO LEGAL RIGHT or jurisdiction here! GOOGLE IT!" The agents start to look exasperated, because they can see I'm wiling to act a WHOLE DONKEY. One of them said "Fine. We can see that you're a citizen because of your filthy mouth". And then they just said "go ahead" to the bus driver and got off. Point is: These border patrol officers act like they do because they EXPECT people to be afraid of them and just comply. The lady next to me spoke NO ENGLISH, but she was a very kind woman. She looked TERRIFIED when Point is: These border patrol officers act like they do because they EXPECT people to be afraid of them and just comply. The lady next to me spoke NO ENGLISH, but she was a very kind woman. She looked TERRIFIED when they boarded. I felt it was my duty to defend her. We DO NOT LIVE in Nazi Germany. No one should be asked to present "papers" for interstate travel. I defended her, and I defended myself. We DO NOT HAVE to just take this shit LYING down. What those officers did is WRONG and completely illegal. All it took was ONE LOUD ass Black woman to let them know WE ARE NOT WITH THE SHITS. FUCK Y'ALL. And they backed off. Use your voice. Take a risk. Act an ASS. Because if you let them intimidate the poor Spanish speaking woman next to you, who do you think they're coming for next? Obnoxious Lady Uses Google Translate to Give a Speech and Border Patrol lets her go Because of her "Foul Mouth"
Desperate, Facebook, and Life: Some despicable people destroyed 50 life-saving water jugs that were put out in the dessert to save migrants' lives. C @borderangelsofficial ecumed Repost @borderangelsofficial: "Yesterday, while scouting for this Saturday’s Water Drop, we discovered something despicable. Something evil. We found 50 of the 53 life-saving water jugs put out only a month ago had been deliberately destroyed. By who, we don’t know. They could be racist anti-migrant vigilantes, an organized hate group, or rogue Border Patrol agents. Whoever they are, they slashed and smashed FIFTY jugs, most of them covered in volunteers’ sentimental messages to be read by migrants. For these hate-filled individuals, it was no small task. These jugs were spread across a wide stretch of territory, revealing just how determined they were. Given just how treacherous crossing the desert can be, each slashed and crushed jug could have made the difference between life and death. How many migrants in desperate need of water approached what from afar looked to be a life-saving oasis, and discovered this evil? Imagine how that would feel. First, imagine the euphoric sense of hope, knowing that you’ll survive and soon embrace the ones you cherish most, that you’ll escape poverty and find refuge from violence. Then imagine that newly found hope ripped away from you, knowing you’ll likely die, and that people in this country want exactly that. The perpetrators’ message was loud and clear: migrants OF COLOR are not just unwelcome, but they should die. This is only one of many hateful and possibly deadly actions taken upon our life-saving supplies. In each and every instance, as far as we're concerned, those responsible are complicit in the potential death of fellow human beings. That’s called murder. They are serious criminals, and in a just world, would be treated as such. We are not deterred by these acts. In fact, we have grown only more determined. For every one jug they destroy, we'll replace it with two more, and make our deposits less vulnerable to their racist sabotage. To take action in the fight to protect the greatest human right there is, the right to life, join us on our Water Drops every third Saturday. For more information on how to sign up, check our Facebook page for RSVP details at the beginning of every month. "
