If you follow this advice, you will develop huge calves in no time. It will simply take consistency, intensity and progressive overloading. Here are some tips that will help you bring out the size of your calves. 1 - Train calves as if if were a major muscle group. Do not just train them at the end of a leg workout. 2 - Keep the full range of motion slow and controlled. Focus on the squeeze instead of bouncing up and down. 3 - Train them 2-3 times a week. They recover quickly. 4 - On calf raises, focus on keeping the tension-weight on the big toe instead of the outside of the foot. 5 - Finish them off with high reps and drop sets. 6 - Change up the feet position including inward, outward, straight, shoulder width and wider than shoulder width. 7 - Stretch properly at the end of your workout. These processes further alter milkโ€™s chemistry and actually increase its detrimental acidifying effects. - Under current industrial methods, cowโ€™s milk is often a toxic bovine brew of man-made ingredients like bio-engineered hormones, antibiotics (55% of U.S. antibiotics are fed to livestock), and pesticidesโ€”all of which are bad for us and the environment. - For example, unintentional pesticide poisonings kill an estimated 355,000 people globally each year. In addition the drugs pumped into livestock often re-visit us in our water supply. - We are the only animals on the planet who take another animals milk and drink it for consumption. You do. The real name of the calf is the "Triceps Surae". If we break down the Latin, we have... ๐Ÿ”ผtri = three ๐Ÿ”ผceps = plural of caput = heads ๐Ÿ”ผsurae = of the calf . So Triceps Surae is the "3 heads of the calf". Two of the muscular heads are from the medial and lateral gastrocnemius and the third is from the soleus. These muscles differ in their anatomy and consequently, how we mobilize them. . The Gastrocnemius is a โœŒtwo jointed muscle, crossing both the ankle and the knee. So to stretch it, you must both extend the knee and dorsiflex the ankle, pulling the muscle onto stretch from both ends. This stretch is definitely the more common of the two. . On the flip side, the Soleus is โ˜one jointed and only crosses the ankle. So to stretch it, you must bend the knee to slack the overlying gastroc and reach the deeper layer. It's this stretch that will lead to improvements in ankle mobility as these tissues lie closer to the joint itself. . So if you're trying to improve ankle mobility, make sure you are getting into the bent knee position. Make this little change and you will probably start seeing the results you are looking for.๐Ÿ˜„ . This is the exercise I use all the time to fix foot and ankle issues.๐Ÿ‘Ÿ How can it help you? . If you โ†˜โ†™ pronate: You most likely don't have an effective windlass mechanism and don't engage the deep calf muscles. This will train you to push off through the big toe and strengthen your arch and deep foot muscles. For you guys, ๐Ÿ– 5 second holds at the top will be very helpful and don't be surprised if you feel your feet cramp up. If you โ†™โ†˜ supinate: You roll to and push off through the outside of the foot. You need to come โช back to the big toe. For you, we want to instill a new motor pattern so higher reps with good technique are best and perform them frequently throughout the day. If you have ๐Ÿ”ฅ plantar fasciitis or Achille's tendon pain: You need to fix the mechanics, but you can also use this to load the tissues and make them stronger. Slow eccentric sets are best for you. Raise up and lower as slowly and with as much control as possible. A few sets of 15 performed twice a day will help a lot. If you chronicly ๐Ÿ’ข sprain your ankles: You most likely push off through the outside and don't have the dynamic lateral stability from the peroneals. Repattern like the supinators and get those muscles ๐Ÿ’ก firing again to stabilize your ankles. There you have it guys! Now go to work, tag a friend, and start fixing your feet! This poster will explain why we are doing this. There are alternatives, full of flavour & calcium; we can even pour hearts on your lattes with them. Milk is of course a product of motherhood; until recently, we had not made this connection, and saw nothing wrong with using good quality milk. In order to make milk, all animals, whether human or cow or otherwise, must have a child. Cows are pregnant with theirs for nine months, just as we are. The milk they produce is for their calf in order for us to get it, the calf is taken away or killed, usually within a day or two. Free-range and organic, it doesn't change that fact. After several months of milking, her milk production drops, so she is made pregnant again. This will happen from the age of two, to the average age of six, at which point most dairy cows become too exhausted ill or infertile and are slaughtered for meat. This is standard practise in the UK. So from March 26th 2017 this cafe will have a completely vegan menu.
