Arguing, Ass, and Children: Camille Echols added 2 new photos. 22 June at 07:45. I've been relatively quiet on social media about the "Anti-vax" movement. I've seen smart-ass memes saying "why would my unvaccinated kids be a threat to your vaccinated kids if you're so sure they work?" THIS is why. There are people who cannot have live vaccines, like my daughter, who had a kidney transplant when she was 2 years old. She got one varicella vaccine but couldn't get the second because she was immunosuppressed and instead of developing immunity, she would have contracted the virus. She was exposed to a child with chickenpox this weekend and now we are in the ER. She's getting labwork, injections of immunoglobulin and then we have to wait to see what the infectious disease doctor says. The incubation period of chicken pox is 7-21 days. So even with all we are doing, she could still become sick in the next 3 weeks. And that would mean an automatic admission to the hospital for IV antiviral meds. She could become very, very sick from this. Please, if you are someone who believes your child will get autism from vaccines, PLEASE educate yourself. There isn't a single peer reviewed study that came to that conclusion. And the people choosing to skip vaccinations put children like my daughter at risk. She has been through SO much already. And this was avoidable. so Let me address the recurring questions: 01 contacted her transplant nephrologist regarding her exposure, who in turn consulted with the infectious disease team at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and their solid organ transplant PharmD. It was the team's recommendation that I take Ashley to the ER to receive VZIG, which costs approx $5k and cannot be given outpatient. Titers were drawn prior to giving her VZIG. I never claimed that the child with chicken pox was not vaccinated. That is irrelevant. The resurgence of chicken pox, whooping cough, measles and other diseases that were nearly eradicated years ago is a direct result of a large percentage of the population deciding not to vaccinate their children without sound research the support that decision. As for those telling me to "educate myself," I am a pediatric RN with over 10 years' experience in transplant and chronic illness populations. I have had extensive education regarding vaccinations. I would not post about something I was ignorant about. .Those saying "it's just chicken pox, she won't die," please educate yourselves on transplant recipients. There are millions of people waiting for life saving organs. With those numbers, the odds are good that someone in your life has been affected by organ failure.
black-girl-against-feminism:

keyhollow:

hannie-mylove:

keyhollow:

hannie-mylove:

keyhollow:

hannie-mylove:

keyhollow:

illogical-bullshit:

anti-sjw-movement:

violent-darts:

techno-gal:

memehumor:

Mom gets real in Facebook post about why the anti-vaxxer movement is so dangerous for her daughter.

Also, if you’d rather make dead kids than have the possibility of your own kid become autistic you are garbage

Vaccinate. Your. Fucking. Children.

Honestly, just vaccinate your children, for themselves and others around them like above.

Herd immunity is a huge part of how we came so far as a society. Don’t be a fucking medieval asshat. Vaccinate. Your. Kids.

Vaccinate your kids you stupid stupid people

No.

Then keep them away from the rest of us. I also hope you never have children, because that should be considered abuse.

I have children. They aren’t vaccinated. I wasn’t vaccinated. Nor were my brothers and sisters or cousins. Vaccines do not prevent diseases. Modern sanitation and plumbing. Every country that still has these diseases are the ones that are underdeveloped. They bring them vaccines and it only makes them sicker since their immune systems are already weak. I also know several moms who are nurses who don’t vaccinate.

Congratulations, you and yours may be the patient zero that will bring ruin and death upon a whole city, or more.

Modern sanitation and plumbing help. If you notice, polio didn’t stop being a problem until vaccines.

You have no proof for that.

I know several parents that swear by beating their children and using garlic instead of medications.

You’re increasing your and your kids risk of death, as well as the kids around you, by a lot. You are being protected by the very herd immunity you argue against.

Look up herd immunity origins. That’s not what it is. Did you know the polio vaccine is know the leading cause of polio related paralysis? Look it up. NPR article. Honestly there is so much to discuss I can’t even get into it. Just don’t believe what you’ve been told. The research and proof is out there. Look up the vaccine inserts themselves. If vaccines actually worked (which actually have very low success rates) and were totally safe- then I would be fine with it. But as it stands, there are way too many risks and not even discussion or concern for their safety. The vaccine makers don’t care if they are safe because they cannot be sued.

I know herd immunity origins. I’m a biologist. The basic meaning is when a majority of a group is immune to a disease, thus a disease is not able to spread efficiently. Vaccines work with your natural immune system. They create the antibodies just like your body would if exposed to the contagion. Vaccines aren’t magic, they’re a very dead very small amount of contagion. They are safe, tested with blood collected from horseshoe crabs, as their blood has special clotting properties used as its immune system in order to identify any other contagions, especially living ones, that could cause problems.

“On rare occasions, if a population is seriously under-immunized, an excreted vaccine-virus can continue to circulate for an extended period of time. The longer it is allowed to survive, the more genetic changes it undergoes. In very rare instances, the vaccine-virus can genetically change into a form that can paralyse – this is what is known as a circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus (cVDPV).

It takes a long time for a cVDPV to occur. Generally, the strain will have been allowed to circulate in an un- or under-immunized population for a period of at least 12 months. Circulating VDPVs occur when routine or supplementary immunization activities (SIAs) are poorly conducted and a population is left susceptible to poliovirus, whether from vaccine-derived or wild poliovirus. Hence, the problem is not with the vaccine itself, but low vaccination coverage. If a population is fully immunized, they will be protected against both vaccine-derived and wild polioviruses.

Since 2000, more than 10 billion doses of OPV have been administered to nearly 3 billion children worldwide. As a result, more than 13 million cases of polio have been prevented, and the disease has been reduced by more than 99%. During that time, 24 cVDPV outbreaks occurred in 21 countries, resulting in fewer than 760 VDPV cases.”

TLDR: People like you cause that polio shit

Vaccines are very successful. Find me a peer reviewed legitimate scientific study that states otherwise.

The vaccine makers can be sued and care very much, hence they reason incredible amounts of horseshoe crab blood is harvested every year to test batches. Vaccines are here to help you. It’s not a boogie man.

If you do not vaccinate your children, keep them away from the public. Just because you want your child to to die an early death, it doesn’t mean that we want the same.

As previously announced, the topic will be Bisexuality as part of our gender and sexuality series. Bisexuality is the most common identity in the LGBT community - with 5% of men, and 3 % of women identifying as bisexual (Kinsey Institute, 2007). Despite this however, bisexual’s still experience a lot of stigma and misunderstanding, and this comes from both within the LGBT community and outside of it (Roberts, Home Hoyt, 2015). People who are bisexual experience the highest rates of violence, suicide, poverty and discrimination. 60% of bisexuals have experienced biphobia in the work place, and they are 6 times more likely to be closeted than homosexuals (Understanding Issues Facing American Bisexuals). There are many myths about bisexuality and people who are bisexual that feed into these high rates of violence and discrimination. Some of the most prevalent being that bisexuals are just greedy, confused or attention-seeking, the idea that polyamory and bisexuality are the same thing, the idea that they are immune to discrimination due to being “straight-passing”, the idea that bi-erasure is no big deal, and the idea that bisexuality is a phase. We believe that by raising awareness about bisexuality, issues that bisexuals face, and also how these myths are incorrect we can help tackle the core of what some bisexuals face. This is why we’ve decided on bisexuality for our awareness topic for this issue. We address some of these myths in our magazine - for example in the “Myths” section we explore the myth that bisexuality and polyamory are the same thing. In the LGBT section we explore the very real effects of bi-erasure. And in our Community Submission section we explore the effects stigma (such as biphobia) has on a person. As well as this we also have many other great topics from psychology, including How To Stay Mentally Well Over Summer, and Piaget’s Theory of Child Development. If you would like to pre-order this magazine, and help support us in our mission to raise awareness for the topics that really matter to yourselves and us, check out our Patreon hereTogether we can make the world a better place.

You are so close and yet so far. Yes, Harriet Tubman was very accomplished, but this is not her picture. This is Lady Sarah Forbes Bonetta Davies (photographed-Camille Silvy,1862) born into a royal West African dynasty, and orphaned in 1848 at five years old when her parents were killed in a slave-hunting war. In 1850, Sarah was taken to England and presented to Queen Victoria, a “gift” from the King of Dahomey. She became the “Queen’s Goddaughter” and a celebrity known for her extraordinary intelligence. She spent her life between the British royal household and in Africa until her death in 1880. Very interesting figure in her own right, but nobody bothered to research that when they could just slap her picture on a post to make a point about Harriet Tubman. Oh and by the way: Sara was originally the slave of an African king, given to Queen Victoria as a gift “from the king of blacks to the queen of whites”. I bet you “woke” people missed that part too.

@proudblackconservative YOU SLAYED

Haha thanks! Another interesting note: Captain Frederick E. Forbes of the Royal Navy was the one who convinced King Ghezo to give his slave girl as a gift to Queen Victoria. Now that might sound kind of bad, until you consider the fact that Captain Forbes did this to prevent King Ghezo from using Sara (then known as Aina) as a human sacrifice. All things considered being given to Queen Victoria was probably the better option, especially considering that the Queen liked her so much she basically adopted her and raised her in the British middle class.

Sadly, Sara did die in her late 30s from tuberculosis, after suffering from a bad cough throughout her childhood – likely caused by the difference in climate from England to Africa. She did go to school in Africa at first, but did not like it and elected to return to England.

The more you know!
