Fail, Family, and Feminism: I swear, one more "lol men are mediocre" post crosses my dash and I'm going to completely lose it. Like... is that something you'd say to the face of the men in your life? There is probably at least one guy you care about, whether it's a family member or a friend or a former mentor. Could you really look that person in the face and go Imao men are mediocre? And if not, can you maybe consider that they might stumble across your stupid stupid, stupid poorly-considered rant and think that it's about them? And that's not all. Most of y'all who post this crap consider yourselves to be SJWs. Fighting for the fucking side of right, all that. If you do this-if you constantly post about how men are terrible and mediocre- you're fucking terrible at social justice. Have you considered that your PROTECT XYZ GROUP] AT ALL COSTS rhetoric is completely empty and shallow if you're not willing to protect all members of that group? Have you fucking considered that some men are POC or queer or trans or disabled? If you post "DISABLED PEOPLE ARE AWESOME" and "QUEER PEOPLE ARE AWESOME" every five minutes and then follow it up with "LOL MEN THO, we know how you really feel. Your support for disabled people or queer people only extends to vague internet platitudes. When it comes to, you know, not triggering people with depression, or anxiety, or impostor syndrome? Haha, who cares, there are men to make fun of on the internet! In less pretentious language: your support means jackshit. Social justice is supposed to be about making the world a less shitty place. It's supposed to be about making the world a place where no one gets hurt for things they can't help, no matter what race, creed, or gender they happen to be If you're not willing to do that? If you're more interested in petty, mean bullshit against a group you don't like than helping people? If your "SJ" is more about sticking it to men or white people or str8s or The Cis than it is about helping raise the people you want to help out? You fucking fail at justice. You're looking for an excuse to be mean. Either admit that you just want an excuse to be mean, or stop doing this. Shit or get off the pot. Crime, Memes, and Party: amy d @AmyDentata Following yes, even criminals are people that's how human rights work 5:46 PM - 17 May 2018 Full text if you don’t want to swipe: “Yes, even criminals are people. That’s how human rights work. Because once you stop working that way, you can make anyone into a criminal. Dark skin gets equated to ‘gang member.’ Trans gets equated to ‘sex worker’ or ‘pedophile.’ ‘Sex worker’ gets equated to ‘human trafficker.’ And then before you know it, the state cracks down on everybody that isn’t straight, cis, white, and ‘gainfully employed.’ Of course the loophole has always been there, right there in the 13th amendment. The 13th Amendment to the Constitution declared that ‘Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, EXCEPT AS A PUNISHMENT FOR CRIME, whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.' But people say ‘oh it’s about criminals, so that’s okay.’ It’s not okay to dehumanize anyone. And once you let the state dehumanize anyone, they’ll eventually come after you, too. THE LAW DOES NOT DEFINE MORALITY. Slavery was legal. The Holocaust was legal. Only allowing non-criminals to be human means you give up any and all moral authority to the state, which by design has no concept of morality. If you let criminality dehumanize people, you have rejected the very foundation of morality. If you let criminality justify dehumanization, you are always one legislative act away from losing your humanity. The solution isn’t to get meaner, crueler, and more fascist. The solution is to re-humanize our society, de-militarize our police, de-criminalize people who aren’t causing any harm, and always remember the difference between the law and morality. Remember the difference between the law and how the law is enforced. Refuse to let law enforcement be above the law. Refuse to let ‘law and order’ become our core value, when what we need is a moral foundation that isn’t subject to the whims of legislation or theology.” by @ AmyDentata on Twitter.

Butt, Club, and Girls: RuPaul Would'Probably Not Let a Transitioning Queen on Drag Race Strai Ta wi Photography: Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP
ithelpstodream:

In a new interview with the Guardian, RuPaul stood firm on his stance that trans women and bio-queens are unwelcome on Drag Race. After explaining that drag’s political power lies in the dissonance of “men dressing up as women,” Ru was asked if he’d allow a “biological woman” to compete on the show.

“Drag loses its sense of danger and its sense of irony once it’s not men doing it, because at its core it’s a social statement and a big f-you to male-dominated culture,“ RuPaul tells Guardian. “So for men to do it, it’s really punk rock, because it’s a real rejection of masculinity.” When asked if trans women can be drag queens, he brings up season nine contestant Peppermint, who was the first out trans woman to compete on the show. “Mmmm. It’s an interesting area. Peppermint didn’t get breast implants until after she left our show; she was identifying as a woman, but she hadn’t really transitioned.”

The interviewer goes on to ask if RuPaul would allow a trans woman who was actively transitioning to compete. “Probably not. You can identify as a woman and say you’re transitioning, but it changes once you start changing your body. It takes on a different thing; it changes the whole concept of what we’re doing. We’ve had some girls who’ve had some injections in the face and maybe a little bit in the butt here and there, but they haven’t transitioned.”

These statements go to show how antiquated RuPaul’s conceptions of trans identity and the queering of gender really are. For someone who is deservedly lauded as an icon of genderfuckery, the fact that RuPaul still sees drag as a boys’ club is disappointing, not to mention the fact that he reduces trans identity to whether or not a person has had surgery. The notion that the only true power to be found in an art form that has expanded so much since RuPaul came up seems insulting in the face of the incredible female artists — both cisgender and trans — who are doing drag today, largely thanks to the influence of Drag Race.

https://www.out.com/popnography/2018/3/03/rupaul-would-probably-not-let-transitioning-queen-drag-race

Wait… if he won’t let cis women be on the show, then isn’t he just being consistent here by viewing trans women as real women?

The Wonder Woman designs received acclaim from fans and costume fanatics alike. They were clearly inspired by the Amazon’s origins in the Mediterranean and were feminine but very functional. Why mess with perfection?

Oh, right. The all-male team of directors and executive directors wanted women to fight in bikinis.

Wonder Woman began filming in 2015, the year before Justice League started filming in 2016. That means that there were discussions about what the Amazons should wear into battle in Justice League and the epic designs from Wonder Woman were rejected in favor of leather bikinis. The Amazons in Wonder Woman wore sports-bra-like outfits when they were not fighting and I think that is very realistic for a society that lives in a Mediterranean climate. My problem is a millennia-old military culture wearing bikinis into battle because they are women. My problem is a wise civilization that was created by the gods to protect the world thinking that soft leather is armor.

I have a problem with a really great design being thrown out in favor of something that would excite the cis male gaze.”

Hahahahaha

And there goes any desire i had to see this.
