Anaconda, Bad, and Click: Teachers: Wikipedia is very u instead nreliable "Hands out 25 year old textbooks Alrighty guys gals, and other genders and lack thereof I'm gonna teach ya a thing A lot of teachers will go on about not using wikipedia as a source. It's bad, they say. 1 will deduct points if you do it. Well wikipedia is actually a great source of information and fuck what your teacher said, you absolutely can use it The key though is knowing A. How to use it. B. How to source it and C. whether it is good info or trash. NowFirst Lets look up something on wikipedia. Say your writing a paper on Gregor Mendel and Mendelian Inheritance. So you zoom over to the Wikipedia page on Mendelian Inheritance. Now there is a lot of information here. Not all of it is strictly necessary for that essay you are writing. So you read through and suddenly you see something that is good info for your essay Boy oh boy this information is useful. To bad your teacher said No Wikipedia Ever However there is a loophole. It's right there. No. Go closer r each trait from each parent. You see that little four? Its a citation number. Think of wikipedia as it's own essay. It got it's information from other sources out there. Just ike you are trying to right now. And since there is a citation, it's going to be listed at the end of the wikipedia article. Look at citation number 4 Look at that you have your first citation. From Wikipedia. And look. Do you see it. There is a link. It's the blue words with the boxy tion ai That thing. Click it. Why did you leave wikipedia you ask? Wikipedia is great. You have several sources from there. But There is more than what the put in to that wiki article. Those sources Wikipedia gave you are helpful. And now that you are at the source, you can ublize it But what if its a book that's the source You can either head to your local library and see if they have it, order it, on avoid the book source. Online sources are just as valuable. Also do not quote directly from the wikipedia. Quote from the source and then use quote citation. And MLA citation. Use MLA citation. Since you are linked to the sources cite them. Not the wikipedia. Your teacher will never know. And now you can finish that sweet e got planned ssay you You're on your way to greatness. For anybody not aware you can abuse the absolute fuck out of Wikipedia for any papers! rm an academic librarian and i 100% endorse this post l am also an academic ibrarian and I 100% endorse this post CITATIONS are important Wikipedia

America, Dude, and Facebook: New York Man Arrested for Cutting Wires to Red Light Cameras After Exposing Government Revenue Generating Scheme BEN KELLER vanilla-birdbrain: abyssalthaumaturge: critical-perspective: cointelpro-plant: Man found the stoplight cameras were activated during yellow lights and decided to cut the wires of it. Florida Man: Chaotic evil.New York Man: Chaotic good. Holy shit. Nah dude look up the entire story, it’s INSANE. The dude got arrested once before this for using a painter’s extension rod to point the stoplight cameras into the sky instead of cutting the wires. He didn’t cut the wires until AFTER he got out after being arrested the first time–which he did after posting facebook videos that prove that the stoplights are intentionally rigged to trick drivers into citations–the yellow lights at intersections with cameras only last THREE SECONDS, as opposed to the five seconds they last at other stoplights without cameras in the same county. When he cut the camera cords, he reported his deeds to the news -himself,- and then politicians pressured the local police force into arresting him. The local police and sheriff deputies actually SUPPORT him for his actions because the lights have been killing innocent people! During his most recent arrest, one of the Sheriff’s Deputies actually -offered to bail him out-.When he got home again after these incidents, there was a surveillance camera planted at his house BY THE GOVERNMENT to watch him! His reaction to being surveilled? He painted over the camera in America’s flat out fucking ballsiest “fuck you” to the gubmint I’ve ever heard of.And it gets EVEN CRAZIER. After painting over the camera, suddenly this guy–his name is Stephen Ruth by the way–started GETTING ATTEMPTS ON HIS LIFE. He reports that a car intentionally tried to hit him in a head-on collision, and after talking about the car to his neighbors, they confirmed that the car in question (Or at least, one that was visibly identical, its occupants included) had been staking out his house! Somebody was legitimately trying to MURDER HIM over his discovery and his actions! As a final insult to injury, Ruth pointed out that the VAST majority of the cameras were found SPECIFICALLY in lower-to-middle-class neighborhoods. As well, the victims of these rigged stoplights tried to go to the local news station to talk about the deaths of their family members that occurred from the rigging. Aaaand… The local station, “News12″, never aired their interviews.Remember how I said that, after cutting the cables and calling the local news station, Ruth was arrested because of pressure from politicians? Get this: News12 is actually owned by CableVision, who PROVIDES INTERNET SERVICE TO THE CAMERAS. Whereas mister Ruth was only trying to help people and save lives, he’s been caught up in a full-blown fucking government conspiracy that’s out for his blood. This guy isn’t Robin Hood, he makes Robin Hood look like a -CHUMP-. HOLY SHIT I HAVE A NEW FUCKING ROLE MODEL

Beautiful, Confused, and Cute: Ca geekandmisandry: ptenterprises: sheisquiteacommonfairy: kaylapocalypse: alithographica: alithographica: igyid: alithographica: Liberty x Justice for all. Why did you make liberty black and justice Muslim ? So here’s a distilled explanation of Why Liberty Is Black and Why Justice Is Muslim for those who are confused by the rampant inaccuracies. I’ll spell it out. Artistic license I live in the US and the political landscape is a dumpster fire. This is a protest piece. Liberty and Justice are concepts based loosely on ancient gods from a multiracial civilization. They are also deeply American concepts, and one of the great American dreams is that we are a melting pot of equality* for all races and religions. *Terms and conditions may apply. With the political point I’m trying to make, those 3 things are more than enough to justify this depiction. (Not that it even needs justification; it’s my personal art.) Educational sidebar: A nonwhite Lady Liberty is actually well-founded: Consider that The Statue of Liberty was originally proposed by the president of the French Emancipation Society. Prior to designing the Statue of Liberty, the sculptor had wanted to build a similar piece on the Suez Canal based on an Egyptian peasant woman. This never came to fruition but became an early iteration of our American Lady Liberty. Also there’s a black Lady Liberty coin coming soon (and this coin was a major design element for Lady Liberty here). But honestly ‘accuracy’ is beside the point. For all of the questions I’ve gotten on this piece, 90% relate to the race/religion of Liberty and Justice. People are bothered by the perceived inaccuracies there and totally skip over the gay part. I imagine that Liberty and Justice kissing should, maybe, also be considered inaccurate because that’s actually where I took the biggest leap. I literally had no reason to do it except it’s that cute and gay and political. I personified the judicial system coming to protect the liberties of people legislatively marginalized for their race or religion…as two queer women. Yet somehow that is not the most inaccurate part to people. No, god forbid anyone depict two //personified concepts// as nonwhite to represent and recognize the vast marginalization of POC in this country, particularly black and Muslim communities. p.s. the fact that Libertas and Iusticia are both conceived as female by Greeks and Romans is also arbitrary maybe one or both of them are actually transwomen or genderqueer or agender because everything cultural that you hold dear is a construct have a good day Hi @ghostlune I can see from your blog that we just think of the world in two fundamentally different ways but I don’t think that’s reason to not have a little historical education 1. French is a nationality, not a race. You can, in fact, be black and French. What I suspect you meant is “the Statue of Liberty is a white woman”. 2. Please refer to the “Educational sidebar” section above where I discuss why a nonwhite Liberty is pretty in-line with both the French and American visions of her. It has citations and everything. It’s cool, I promise. GET 👏THEM 👏ALITHOGRAPHICA👏 This is so beautiful and amazing. Given everything happening right now and what has been happening for pretty much time immemorial, having either Liberty or Justice be white would be not only inaccurate, but an insult to both. You’re made about her erasing the whiteness of “characters” that have never been able to be confirmed as white. How do you know what race the statue of liberty is? They are unpainted fucking statues, vague visual representatives of human ideals. If you think they default to white then all that says is that white is the default to you and everything else is viewed as being a deviation.

Please take a moment to read the article about what this man is doing, the criminals he is exposing, and the deaths of so many poor and middle class families at the hands of the greedy. Yellow lights with Xerox cameras were shortened from 5 seconds to 3 seconds in poor and middle class neighborhoods to surprise drivers and generate more revenue. Many deaths ensued. This story is already a couple months old, but there isn’t enough talk about it. Please signal boost this. http://photographyisnotacrime.com/2016/04/26/new-york-man-arrested-for-cutting-wires-to-red-light-cameras-after-exposing-government-revenue-generating-scheme/ even traffic lights are racist 😧😧😧😧 The gag is it was a Black man who invented the traffic light and now white supremacy is using it to kill us what in the fuck. Also notice this man looks DELIGHTED in his mugshot, probably because he knows it will help shine a light on the subject. This guy’s an actual American hero, using his white privilege for good.  Please read his story and I know y’all don’t click links so: A New York man known as the Red Light Robin Hood was arrested again this  month after cutting wires to red light cameras where yellow light duration  times were shortened by the city in order to generate more citations and  revenue. The shortened durations at the traffic lights generate $32 million for Suffolk  County, which is why the county allows the practice to continue despite their  own study showing they lead to an increase in accidents with injuries. PINAC’s Theresa Richard reported about Stephen Ruth back in February  after seeing videos he posted on Facebook that prove the lights near the  cameras trick drivers into citations. At that point, Ruth had already been arrested in August for using a painter’s  extension rod to point the cameras towards the sky. On April 11, he went a little further and cut wires to 18 cameras. “I cut the cable wires, making it useless. I’ve made it  dysfunctional, just like the whole red-light camera  program,” said Ruth during a local interview. “I did it in  order to save lives.” And after he cut the wires, he called the news to cover his act of civil  disobedience, which resulted in his arrest after police received pressure from  politicians. Ruth said police and sheriff deputies support him, because  they’re aware of the shortened yellow lights. Some may even testify on his behalf if his case goes to trial. When he was in  jail for his most recent arrest, a sheriff’s deputy even offered to bail him out. But after receiving attention from local residents and media, Ruth discovered  a government entity mounted a camera outside of his home on a telephone  pole just like the one LaVoy Finicum took down during the standoff with the  government at a National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon. But Ruth doesn’t know exactly where it came from. “The only reason the government is so concerned about me is because I  proved that they shortened the yellow lights to generate revenue and killed a  lot of innocent people,” said Stephen Ruth just before he painted over the  camera with a painter’s extension pole. Ruth currently faces 22 years in prison for tampering of public property and  obstructing government administration, but relies on his faith and stated he’s  on a mission from God to save lives. Ruth said that a car tried to hit him head-on and narrowly missed his vehicle.  Upon talking to neighbors, they described a similar vehicle with similar  occupants staking out his house and lurking around his neighborhood. He said someone could be trying to kill him, although he said he could be  wrong. “The only way they can keep this from gaining national attention is to get rid of me,” he said. If you think Ruth may be paranoid, consider the case of John Lang, a traffic- light scam whistleblower in Fresno, California who posted on Facebook that  police were trying to kill him just days before he was found stabbed to death  in his burned down house. Police ruled his death a suicide. If Suffolk County’s contract with Xerox is any indication of what other cities’  contracts with Xerox look like, the problem extends much farther than Suffolk  County. So Ruth’s “paranoia” might not be paranoia at all. In Suffolk County, yellow lights at 50 intersections with cameras were shortened  in 2011 after state legislators approved the cameras to be installed in 2010. In  2012, 50 more cameras were installed at intersections, which increased revenue  by $17 million. The video below, shot by Ruth, shows the duration of a yellow light at an  intersection with no cameras to be five seconds compared to the duration of a  yellow light at an intersection with a camera to be three seconds. That two-second reduction has netted millions of extra dollars for the county  and Xerox, the publicly-owned company that contracts the cameras. Ruth pointed out some cameras that were put up have been taken down after  they fell short of daily contract-quota with Xerox to produce 25 citations, per  camera, between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., which costs Suffolk County $2,132 per  day, according to the Xerox contract with the county. Xerox collects $13 from Suffolk County for each ticket, which increases to $33  per ticket when a camera generates more than 90 tickets in a month. Ruth pointed out that the vast majority of cameras were placed in lower to  middle class neighborhoods. “I’m on 25A and Setauket and you can see that there’s no  cameras to be found. Lower class neighborhoods are  loaded with cameras. But if you drive through Setauket,  you won’t see any cameras. Why are they all over the lower  and middle class neighborhoods? That’s what we want to  know,” he stated in a video seen below. Another vexing problem for Ruth is the coverage the issue has gotten from local  news, specifically News12, which is owned by CableVision who provides the  internet service to the cameras at the lights. When victims of the lights went to News12 about the deaths of their family  members due to the shortened lights, News12 interviewed them, but never ran  the story. And while other local media outlets report from Ruth’s point of view  and most of the public’s, News12 has painted Ruth a criminal. When the news failed to investigate some of the deaths at intersections with  shortened lights, Ruth took his own camera to document the light-duration  times at the scene of the deaths. When he arrived, he recorded a light-duration  of three seconds at an intersection where it was previously five seconds. “I saw the crosses and thought I was in the right place.” However, when he determined he was actually at the wrong location, he went to  the correct location the following day and found the same thing, again – a light  shortened from five seconds to three where a person was killed. Ruth’s energy and persistence on social media and news media have gained the  yellow light issue local support and he’s spoken on behalf of victim’s families to  representatives urging them to discontinue the program. His supporters consist  of a variety of groups from judges to cops to just about everyone in Suffolk  County. Meanwhile, Ruth’s support seems to be growing everywhere but the U.S., where  it has remained mostly specific to Suffolk County.  He posted a screen shot on  his Facebook page of folks from England calling him a “hero” and saying they  “idolize” him. “I’m even getting messages from Australia,” Ruth told  PINAC. When asked if he was afraid of the possibility of jail  he said, “I’m willing to go to jail for doing what’s right.” Ruth said one of his hero’s is MLK, who he shares a birthday with on January 15. “You gotta love a guy like that. He was willing to go to jail to do what’s right.” “I’m just trying to save lives. I spend Christmases delivering flowers to the  cemetery, because nobody wants to work on Christmas. I get orders from all  around the world from people ordering flowers to put on graves. I take my son  and tell him to note the ages of the people who died fighting for our country.  And they come back to this?” So we asked what he’d like to see come from risking his own life and freedom to  save the lives of others and expose the traffic light scandal. “I want people to go to jail.” Ironically, at this point in time, Stephen Ruth is the only person facing jail time  for “crimes” related to the Suffolk County yellow light scandal.

Bitch, Complex, and Dumb: ctor- 1 Lexie M 12/10/17 Mr. Robert Hugs Reasons you need to give me a hug On December 10th, 2017, Robert you asked if I wanted a hug. Of course I said yes, I'm always accepting offers for hugs. But since you wanted to be a prick, you told me to writea three paragraph essay as to why you should give me hugs. Here it is, Bitch. Reason number one is simple, and self explanatory. You're my boyfriend, and I should be receiving hugs very often. As a needy girlfriend, I need these hugs to be happy, healthy, and content. You should know this, because we have been together for over one year. Assuming you already know this, my question is this: why didn't you give me the hug anyways? Fortunately, for you, I'm a very forgiving and understanding person. I'll accept a hug later and you can continue playing H1Z1 with your friend Jake. Reason number two is a bit more complex. Hugs release neurotransmitters called Oxytocin and Serotonin. Considering you're about to be an Economic/ Computer Science major, you don't know what a neurotransmitter is. A neurotransmitter is a chemical that is released at the end of a nerve fiber upon arrival of a nerve impulse. Between fibers are gaps called synapses. These neurotransmitters allow the diffusion from one fiber to the other. If know you at all, I'd know you skipped the whole reading on what a neurotransmitter is. There will be a quiz following this short essay, better read up! Oxytocin and Serotonin are very important to living a happy life. Oxytocin is also very important to the reproductive system, so, if you ever want to get jiggy; give your girlfriend a hug! Serotonin is the chemical Il've been lacking for years which is why I've suffered from depression and anxiety. So, in conclusion, give your favorite girl (besides Fergie, dumb Bitch) a hug to keep her Serotonin levels up! (Oxytocin) The third and final reason why you should give me a hug is because it is scientifically proven that it improves sense of trust and sense of security. I'm not saying that our relationship needs much improving, because we are truly everyone's favorite couple. Why wouldn't we be? We're hot, funny, and smart. Senses of trust could always use improvement, even if we trust each other already. (Which I hope you do, bitch) In conclusion, I believe I deserve all the hugs I desire. This will not only benefit me, but you as well. It will benefit you because of the good mood I will be in afterwards. This good mood not only makes my day easier, but yours too. Hugs are good for my well being, I need them on a regular basis. Citations "Oxytocin." Psychology Today, Sussex Publishers, www.psychologytoday.com/basicsloxytocin McIntosh, James. Anaconda, Ben Carson, and Black History Month: <p>Black history month day 22: Renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson. </p> <p>Benjamin Solomon “Ben” Carson Sr. was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 18, 1951. When he was eight, his parents separated and he moved with his mother and brother to his mother’s sister’s home. Carson’s mother struggled with severe depression, resulting in several psychiatric hospitalizations and an attempted suicide. She was however very involved with her sons’ education, limiting their time watching television and requiring them to read and write book reports on two library books per week.</p> <p>Carson had dreams of being a doctor since he was eight. He did well in school and scored very highly on the SAT for the Detroit school district. When it came time to choose a college, he narrowed the choice between Harvard or Yale, but could only for the $10 application fee for one school. He chose Yale after seeing them win a televised G.E. college bowl against Harvard. He received a full scholarship. Later he attended medical school at the university of Michigan and was excepted into the neurosurgery program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.</p> <p>Carson was the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland from 1984 until his retirement in 2013. He was indisputably a pioneer in neurosurgery, his achievements including performing the only successful separation of conjoined twins joined at the back of the head, the first successful neurosurgical procedure on a fetus inside the womb, and the first completely successful separation of type-2 vertical craniopagus twins. He also developed new methods to treat brain-stem tumors and improved techniques for controlling seizures. At age 33 he became the youngest head of pediatric neurosurgery in the country. He has written over 100 neurosurgical publications and received numerous accolades, including over 60 honorary doctorate degrees, dozens of national merit citations, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States.</p>

Kimmel was afraid he wasn't down with what they were asking. But he just said, "I don't know, this wardrobe...don't you have anything mesh that I could wear?" When he was filming "Witness" he rented a small farm from a friend of mine. At the end of the filming my friend went and checked out the property as usual. He noticed the barn door had been leveled so it no longer would swing open on it's own. Went into the house and saw the closets had been redone, in the kitchen the cabinets had been replaced and all the drawers now opened really well. Turns out that there were thousands of dollars of work and materials put into fixing up everything at the place. My friend called Ford and asked him how much he was asking for the work. Ford told him doing that kind of thing helped him relax and stay sane when he was filming. Would not take a dime. Plus he paid for a new water heater and got the sewage system cleaned out And he paid rent to live there the entire time #1 love him :Harrison ford This is a Harrison Ford appreciation post

College, Driving, and Pizza: TIRED OF SEEING THIS? Even if everyone worked hard and went to college, someone would still need to make our pizzas, stock our shelves, drive our cabs. Quit looking down on them and assuming they deserve to l poverty ive i XFACEBOOK.COM/ WAC <p><a class="tumblr_blog" href="http://gop-tea-pub.tumblr.com/post/147822139572">gop-tea-pub</a>:</p> <blockquote> <p> The Misleading Claim: “Even if everyone worked hard and went to college, someone would still need to make our pizza, stock our shelves, and drive our cabs. Quit looking down on them and assuming they deserve to live in poverty.”<br/><br/> The Rebuttal:<br/> The fatal error in the above claim is the presumption that demand for a specific job is static and will always exist; that there will always be someone making our pizzas, stocking our shelves, and driving us around in taxis. While this may have SOME truth to it, in that a declining occupation might not entirely disappear, it fails to acknowledge that such a decline in demand is precisely what necessitates the low wage in the first place. Understand, advocates of freer markets generally don’t assert that hard working individuals “deserve to live in poverty.” What we contend is that people earning low wages are typically offering labor that is either “low in demand” or “'high in supply.” The valuation characteristics of this labor, then, mirror that of a product few people wish to buy or too many people wish to sell.  <br/><br/> It just so happens that pizza-making, shelf-stocking, and cab-driving jobs are declining in demand.<br/><br/> ■ PIZZA-MAKERS:<br/> Pizza has gotten cheaper to produce. Per Franchise Direct, citing a pizza franchise industry report from 2010, “The development and implementation of new technology and marketing strategies has enabled the pizza industry to adapt to growing consumer demands for cheap, fast, and convenient products.” [1]  Part of this increased productivity means fewer “pizza makers” are required, as the art of pizza making has increasingly become commercialized into an efficient process which utilizes less labor. The major chains are known for utilizing “assembly line” techniques, relying more on pre-made or partially prepared products, shipped to individual shops, and thus requiring less labor to render a finished product. According to Pizza Marketing Quarterly, who issues an Annual Industry Analysis, in 2003, independently owned pizza shops represented 50.7% of sales for the pizza industry, while major corporate chains made up the remainder. [2] Ten years later, however, that number had fallen to 40.33% of sales, with major chains increasing their share to nearly 60%. [3] The point is clear; the increased share of major pizza chains equals a downward trend in the necessity of qualified pizza makers.<br/><br/> ■ STOCKING CLERKS:<br/> Per the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Occupational Outlook Handbook and Career Guide to Industries, “Stocking Clerks” are on a list of the 30 fastest declining occupations, expected to decline by 7.7% over a decade. [4]<br/><br/> Other notable yet disappearing occupations from this list? [5]<br/><br/> ● Woodworkers - 40% decline<br/> ● Photo Process Workers -36.3%<br/> ● Textile Operators - 24-31%<br/> ● Clerks - 27.8%<br/> ● Computer Operators - 24.7%<br/> ● Bookbinders - 21.8%<br/> ● Radio Operators - 16.3%<br/> ● Gas Pump Operators - 17.5%<br/> ● Pharmacy Aides - 11.1%<br/> ● Shoe Workers - 10.3%<br/> ● Utility Meter Readers - 10.3%<br/> ● Printer Technicians - up to21.2%<br/> ● Projectionists – 8.4%<br/> ● Farmers – estimated 8.5% from 2006 to 2016<br/> *Matter of fact, from 1790 – 1990 the share of the labor force involved in farming declined from 90% to 2.6%. [6]<br/><br/> The point? Specific types of jobs aren’t always here to stay. Markets shift, demand changes, and the need for some jobs decline.<br/><br/> ■ TAXI DRIVERS:<br/> As with the above occupations, taxi drivers ALSO aren’t impervious to changing markets. Many are now deeply threatened by the quickly expanding “ride-sharing” alternatives, such as Uber. “Donna Blythe-Shaw, a representative for the United Steelworkers and the Boston Taxi Drivers Association, said cabbies, concerned they could be driven out of business by unregulated ride-sharing companies, have waited long enough for reform. She said business is down 35 to 40 percent as a result of companies such as Uber, Lyft, and SideCar.” [7] With such rapid declines in demand for taxis, would it really be surprising to find out their take-home pay has also declined?<br/><br/> CONCLUSION:<br/> Yes, in a hypothetical world, if EVERYONE went to college and developed additional skills, some of those college educated people WOULD still end up making pizzas, stocking shelves, and driving cabs, but it would - as always - be the least skilled among us who performed such tasks. And it just so happens that “pizza-maker,” “stocking clerk,” and “taxi driver,” are occupations with declining demand. Thus, their lower pay IS justified. Again, those choosing to offer labor which is either low in demand or high in supply position themselves to be on the lower end of the compensation spectrum. It’s THEIR choice not to change careers.  You can’t blame anyone else.<br/> —————————–<br/> Citations:<br/> [1]<br/><a href="http://www.franchisedirect.com/foodfranchises/pizzafranchises/pizzafranchiseindustryreport2010/80/275">http://www.franchisedirect.com/foodfranchises/pizzafranchises/pizzafranchiseindustryreport2010/80/275</a><br/><br/> [2]<br/><a href="http://www.pmq.com/September-October-2004/Pizza-Power/">http://www.pmq.com/September-October-2004/Pizza-Power/</a><br/><br/> [3]<br/><a href="http://www.pmq.com/December-2013/Pizza-Power-The-2014-Pizza-Power-Report/">http://www.pmq.com/December-2013/Pizza-Power-The-2014-Pizza-Power-Report/</a><br/><br/> [4] [5]<br/><a href="http://www.boston.com/jobs/2013/12/30/the-fastest-declining-occupations/PRZVnJg25iIBgJFyv70BxN/story.html#slide-2">http://www.boston.com/jobs/2013/12/30/the-fastest-declining-occupations/PRZVnJg25iIBgJFyv70BxN/story.html#slide-2</a><br/><br/> [6]<br/><a href="https://www.agclassroom.org/gan/timeline/farmers_land.htm">https://www.agclassroom.org/gan/timeline/farmers_land.htm</a><br/><br/> [7]<br/><a href="http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2014/05/22/taxi-drivers-protest-uber-boston-offices/0YlRN0hHAHVhcxFIQ2X5aI/story.html">http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2014/05/22/taxi-drivers-protest-uber-boston-offices/0YlRN0hHAHVhcxFIQ2X5aI/story.html</a> <br/></p> </blockquote>

Being Alone, Facts, and Life: WHY IS DENMARK THE HAPPIEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD? FREE CHILD CARE FREE HEALTHCARE FREE UNIVERSITY $20 MINIMUM WAGE 33 HOUR WORKWEEK <p><a class="tumblr_blog" href="http://tomfromdenver.tumblr.com/post/141976723559">tomfromdenver</a>:</p> <blockquote> <p><a class="tumblr_blog" href="http://gop-tea-pub.tumblr.com/post/141976169192">gop-tea-pub</a>:</p> <blockquote> <p> 1) Free Child Care: FALSE</p> <p> “You must pay for child care.” That statement is plainly found on the Child Care page at <a href="http://workindenmark.dk/">http://workindenmark.dk/</a> Furthermore, it points out that child care for workers is handled and set up by municipalities, in other words, not at the national level. They do have national legislation mandating no more than 25% - 28% coming from the working parents’ own pockets, but other than that, it’s left up to cities how to accomplish the task. It can be in private homes or in city-built institutions. Either way, it’s not nearly so cut-and-dried as “free child care” from the government.</p> <p> 2) Free healthcare: MISLEADING</p> <p> Denmark does have a public health system, but it’s not absolutely free (even if you discount taxation). There are still fee-for-service procedures, and things like prescriptions are not necessarily provided free-of-charge, let alone over-the-counter items. Even on the state health insurance system, people still have to pay out of pocket for things. Additionally, the health system, like child care, is managed and taxed at the regional and municipal levels, rather than the national level. </p> <p> It’s also worth noting that Denmark spends only 11.2% of its GDP on healthcare, while in the U.S., we spend 17.9% of GDP. In other words, even though Denmark has a public health system, it is run in such a way that there is less national involvement, and is more efficient, both in pure dollars and as a percentage of GDP. In other words, it’s not necessarily a larger government causing the better outcome, but more a more efficient system based more on local and regional needs.</p> <p> 3) Free University: TRUE-ish</p> <p> Denmark does provide free university tuition to its citizens (as well as EU citizens and several other types of people), and tuition costs are fairly regulated by the government. Some things to consider about Denmark, however, are that compulsory schooling only goes to age 15/16 and that one does not HAVE to take the government-funded choices in university education. Furthermore, Denmark only outperforms the U.S. in a handful of areas according to the OECD factsheet for citizens with specific levels of education. Is the trade-off worth it? Well, choosing between the two systems, Denmark still comes out as more economically free than the US (10 vs 12), so probably.</p> <p> 4) $20 Minimum Wage: FALSE</p> <p> This one is actually a flat-out lie. Denmark has no government-mandated minimum wage at all. Period. They do have (as in a free market) relatively free association with unions and employer associations though, of which about 75% of the population chooses to use. They also have a much more lax hiring/firing process than the U.S., resulting in around 25% of the working population changing jobs annually. The entire labour market is much more free market than in the U.S., resulting in a higher effective minimum wage of $20 per hour, but again, this is NOT set in law and is a result of the market itself. Denmark’s minimum wage, according to the definition U.S. citizens use, is $0.</p> <p> They DO have a more comprehensive “safety net” system for the unemployed, however. Again, we find this taking a smaller chunk of the government’s spending than the U.S., and being much more competently managed.</p> <p> 5) 33 Hour Workweek: MISLEADING</p> <p> Again, the meme tries to insinuate that this is a result of government regulation. It is not. This is merely the average length of the work week. There is no government-mandated work week, and as shown in the fourth point, the overall approach to labour (minus the safety net) is much more free-market-like than the same system in the U.S.</p> <p> Conclusion:</p> <p> While Denmark does provide some services from the government that the U.S. does not, their systems are generally run through the municipal and regional (equivalent to our local and state) governments, rather than at the nation (our federal) level. In other words, they recognize the benefit of decentralization, even in government, where many proponents of similar government services in the U.S. do not. As a result, they manage to beat the U.S. in overall economic freedom. So while there are some true points in the graphic, it is entirely misleading when liberals attempt to apply this to the U.S.</p> <p> One last thing to consider: Denmark is roughly the size of New Hampshire and Vermont combined in area (discounting Greenland, which is largely unpopulated compared to its square mileage), and has roughly the population of Wisconsin. This is divided into 5 administrative regions, then further into cities. So while we make comparisons to the federal/state/local levels in the above writing, it’s worth noting that on sheer scale, it’s more proper to equate state/county/municipal for the U.S.</p> <p> In other words, Denmark’s government is much more efficient, and it utilizes the equivalents of our county and municipal governments far more for the things that American leftists want under Federal control. Additionally, many of the benefits touted in the graphic are actually a result of more free-market-like policies. Overall, the leftist pining after Denmark as an example of a larger state working better is a pipe dream that simply doesn’t stand up to the facts.</p> <p> -Martin-</p> <p> Citations:<br/> 1) <a href="https://www.workindenmark.dk/en/Find_information/Information_for_job_seekers/Life_in_Denmark/Child_care">https://www.workindenmark.dk/…/I…/Life_in_Denmark/Child_care</a><br/> 2a) <a href="https://www.workindenmark.dk/Find_information/Information_for_job_seekers/Life_in_Denmark/Health_service/Purchasing_medicines">https://www.workindenmark.dk/…/Health_…/Purchasing_medicines</a><br/> 2b) <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_in_Denmark">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_in_Denmark</a><br/> 2c) <a href="http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SH.XPD.TOTL.ZS">http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SH.XPD.TOTL.ZS</a><br/> 3a) <a href="http://gpseducation.oecd.org/CountryProfile?primaryCountry=DNK&amp;treshold=10&amp;topic=EO">http://gpseducation.oecd.org/CountryProfile…</a><br/> 3b) <a href="http://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/sites/factbook-2013-en/10/01/06/index.html?contentType&amp;itemId=%2Fcontent%2Fchapter%2Ffactbook-2013-77-en&amp;mimeType=text%2Fhtml&amp;containerItemId=%2Fcontent%2Fserial%2F18147364&amp;accessItemIds">http://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/…/factboo…/10/01/06/index.html…</a><br/> 3c) <a href="http://www.heritage.org/index/ranking">http://www.heritage.org/index/ranking</a><br/> 4a) <a href="http://denmark.usembassy.gov/living-in-denmark.html">http://denmark.usembassy.gov/living-in-denmark.html</a><br/> 4b) <a href="http://denmark.dk/en/society/welfare/flexicurity/">http://denmark.dk/en/society/welfare/flexicurity/</a><br/> 5) <a href="http://denmark.dk/en/society/welfare/flexicurity/">http://denmark.dk/en/society/welfare/flexicurity/</a></p> </blockquote> <p>So well documented, I have to repost!</p> </blockquote>

It took him 40 years to collect his first steady paycheck — and it was a government check. <br/></i></p> <p><i>‘I never had any money my entire life,’ Sanders told Vermont public TV in 1985, after settling into his first real job as mayor of Burlington.<br/></i></p> <p><i>Sanders spent most of his life as an angry radical and agitator who never accomplished much of anything. And yet now he thinks he deserves the power to run your life and your finances — ‘We will raise taxes;’ he confirmed Monday, ‘yes, we will.’</i></p> <p><i>One of his first jobs was registering people for food stamps, and it was all downhill from there.</i></p> <p><i>Sanders took his first bride to live in a maple sugar shack with a dirt floor, and she soon left him. Penniless, he went on unemployment. Then he had a child out of wedlock. Desperate, he tried carpentry but could barely sink a nail. ‘He was a shitty carpenter,’ a friend <a href="http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/07/bernie-sanders-vermont-119927">told Politico Magazine</a>. ‘His carpentry was not going to support him, and didn’t.’</i></p> <p><i>Then he tried his hand freelancing for leftist rags, writing about ‘masturbation and rape’ and other crudities for $50 a story. He drove around in a rusted-out, Bondo-covered VW bug with no working windshield wipers. Friends said he was ‘always poor’ and his ‘electricity was turned off a lot.’ They described him as a slob who kept a messy apartment — and this is what his friends had to say about him.’</i></p> <p><i>The only thing he was good at was talking … non-stop … about socialism and how the rich were ripping everybody off. ‘The whole quality of life in America is based on greed,’ the bitter layabout said. ‘I believe in the redistribution of wealth in this nation</i>.’</p> <p><i>So he tried politics, starting his own socialist party. Four times he ran for Vermont public office, and four times he lost — badly. He never attracted more than single-digit support — even in the People’s Republic of Vermont. In his 1971 bid for U.S. Senate, the local press said the 30-year-old “Sanders describes himself as a carpenter who has worked with ‘disturbed children.’ ” In other words, a real winne</i>r.”</p> <p>From the Washington Post article “<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/04/30/bernie-sanders-from-hippie-migrant-to-would-be-president/">Bernie Sanders: from Migrant Hippie to Would-Be President</a>”:</p> <p>“<i>He worked there as a carpenter, filmmaker and writer and became a member of socialist Liberty Union Party</i>.”</p> <p>A carpenter? But hey, that’s a job.  Wait for it.  From the New Yorker piece “<a href="http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2015/10/12/the-populist-prophet">The Populist Profit</a>”:</p> <p> “<i>He did a stint on a kibbutz in Israel, worked as an aide at a psychiatric hospital, taught in a Head Start program, and had a carpentry business with a few other guys in New York. Stop watching fox and read</p></blockquote> <p>You wouldn’t know a police state even if it came up and bit you on the ass.</p></blockquote> <p>Americans are 20 times more likely per capita to get killed by your police than the British are by our police. I dont disagree with you on many things, but getting killed 20 times more than a civilised nation means you have a brutal police force</p></blockquote> <figure data-orig-width="245" data-orig-height="260"><img src="https://78.media.tumblr.com/75d05ef8efb085df71d4139168941552/tumblr_inline_npfnmuKhNh1r1jtxd_500.gif" alt="image" data-orig-width="245" data-orig-height="260"/></figure><p>That is a gross generalization and completely misinterprets the definition of an actual police state.  Even if police shootings were one hundred times more prevalent in the United States than Europe, that alone will never make this country a police state.  To say otherwise, is exhibiting a complete lack of understanding of the term.  Besides, when you talk about people getting killed by police, you immediately assume they were all innocent which is completely false <a href="http://redbloodedamerica.tumblr.com/post/117874602711/aceteron-postmemes-serve-and-protect-the">as I have mentioned before</a>.</p><p>When anti-police activists misuse the term <i>police state</i> to mean something derogatory about everyday police officers, it is essentially only watering down the original term.  It’s just like when SJWs throw around the word <i>slavery</i> to mean anything and everything oppressive - “mental slavery,” “reproductive slavery,” “slave wages,” etc.  It only dilutes the actual use of the word.</p><p>If you want to witness an actual police state, look no further than North Korea. Calling the United States, where thousands of people have fled to after escaping <i>actual</i> police states throughout history, is a slap in the face.</p></blockquote> <p>Sorry, but that defense is weak. It’s as if you expect a totalitarian monarchy before you’re willing to accept that it’s a police state. The problem here is obvious. One side waters it down, the other side only accepts the most radical version. Setting aside the fact that it’s not really a subjective term, and what you consider a police state and what I consider a police state may be imagined differently, but I’m certain we could come to some mild agreement about what it would entail. That being said, here is a list of things that all police states have in common:</p><p>1) Massive surveillance apparatus that spies on anyone and everyone without regard to the privacy or the rights of the individual. Check<br/>2) An agency or industry that can assault, kill, or lock you away for any reason and most likely get away with it. Check<br/>3) An agency or industry that dresses the part of the antagonist, wearing body armor and carrying heavy weaponry around mostly unarmed people. Check.<br/>4) A systemic view of police whereby “public guarding”, which happens to be an expectation of the average citizen, is set aside and police are turned into “law enforcement” agents who’s primary function is to issue citations or find a way to enroll the citizen into the state’s extortion scheme. Check.<br/>5) A rogue institution of policing around the country that involves portraying the citizen as the primary target, resulting in needless bullying by police. Check<br/>6) “A <strike>totalitarian</strike> society controlled by a political police force that secretly supervises the citizens’ activities.“ CHECK<br/></p><p>But your definition seems to require a totalitarian society, and that may be how it’s technically defined, but I don’t see it that way. I see it as a reactionary effect of people who live under the boot of police or live in a society where police have very little accountability. Who in their right mind could possibly deny that police are seen as an aggressor or antagonist? They don’t guard the public, nor should they have any claim to ‘self defense’ when they are the one pursuing the people in the first place. If I pursued and shot someone, I wouldn’t be able to claim self defense. But see, they’re not actually “police officers”. They are Law Enforcement and they are there on behalf of the government. As employees of the government, they cannot be there for your benefit. I feel a true conservative would view our law enforcement today as a severe encroachment onto our liberties. But the neo-con Republicans look at it like a blind allegiance or patriotic expression that police must be respected, loved and coddled, just like the military and the church. It’s absolutely disgusting.<br/></p></blockquote><p>I’m not watering anything down. I’ve acknowledged that there are some bad cops, although they are few and far between.  There are some cases of militarization of the police, but it’s not as rampant as some would allude.  I’m a realist.  I know where the actual blame lies in the majority of the bad attitudes against our police officers - it’s in our overabundance of constricting laws and our crumby criminal justice system; not the average cop that sticks his neck out on the line for you and me.</p><p>I’ll respond to a couple of your attributes of a “police state” though:</p><p>1) Arguably yes.  Although that’s what most of this recent disagreement regarding the Patriot Act was about.  Is it as restrictive as an actual police state though in which your every word or movement is questioned under possible detainment?  No.  No, it is not.  You actually have rights in America, including the Freedom of Speech.  Odds are, your local police officer would agree with your thoughts on protecting your Fourth Amendment rights and your right to privacy…considering they would apply to he/she as well.</p><p>2) False.  We have a justice system in which you have a right to defend yourself in a court of law.  The police and court system, as lousy as it is at times, must also respect your rights and obey the laws that protect the citizen.  In a real police state, the police (again, run directly by the state) are the judge and jury.  You have very few, if any, rights in a police state.  I’m not saying our system is perfect or that it doesn’t need reform; I’m merely stating it does not remotely resemble an actual police state.</p><p>3) “<i>Dresses the part of the antagonist</i>.” This is the silliest thing I’ve ever heard all day.  The majority of police officers look like this:</p><figure data-orig-width="450" data-orig-height="338" class="tmblr-full"><img src="https://78.media.tumblr.com/9905cd9e6cbcc81bd6adcc71503875cc/tumblr_inline_npfq8fBKtj1r1jtxd_540.jpg" data-orig-width="450" data-orig-height="338"/></figure><p>What you are trying to paint them as:</p><figure class="tmblr-full" data-orig-height="292" data-orig-width="450"><img src="https://78.media.tumblr.com/ec19459810a7a0383186e4a0e5819339/tumblr_inline_npfqlvN5et1r1jtxd_540.jpg" data-orig-height="292" data-orig-width="450"/></figure><p>It’s all about wording.  And this is where anti-police activists (for the lack of a better term) just can’t help themselves to just take a step back and think objectively.  You clearly and cognitively see police as an “<i>antagonist</i>,” and that’s where you lose any credibility in your argument.  You’re projecting your own personal views to appear as facts, and that just doesn’t cut muster here.</p><p>Besides, having a militarized police body, still <i>does not</i> make a country a “police state.”  Need I remind everyone that the Gestapo worn plain clothes unlike the SS.</p><figure class="tmblr-full" data-orig-height="310" data-orig-width="450"><img src="https://78.media.tumblr.com/dea446aed951f8d7b3075e3d892a180d/tumblr_inline_npfsw663Dg1r1jtxd_540.jpg" data-orig-height="310" data-orig-width="450"/></figure><p>4) You lost me on this one entirely.  Are you insinuating that police do not protect and serve the public?  If so, I’m sure I have some fine officers that would happily disagree with you.  Your still projecting this notion that police officers are just driving around harassing innocent people.  Look, I hate getting speeding tickets like the next guy, but let’s not lose focus of reality here.</p><p>5) Again, police are not bullying the average citizen across the country.  Where is your proof of this widespread targeting of innocent Americans?  Where does this stuff permeate into the collective minds of so many young people?  It’s simply not true.</p><p>6) We don’t have a totalitarian (or otherwise) society controlled by a “political police force.”  Of course you don’t think it has to involve a totalitarian state because you are basing your views on your own personal negativity bias.  You hate cops…<i>okay</i>, we get it.  Still not a police state though. </p></blockquote> <p>I am so over police haters cherry picking to make it seem like we live in the freaking Hunger Games.</p>
