America, Arguing, and Ass: kayla renee Follow @kaybaeparker Long story short, I got my racist Professor fired mid semester after she tried to sabotage me. Then I wrote about it RETWEETS LIKES 682 1,368 Imani Gandy e @AngryBlackLady Follow Dear white people: Allyship is more than wearing a safety pin or tweeting Black Lives Matter. If you read one thing today, make it this. kayla renee @kaybaeparker Long story short, I got my racist Professor fired mid semester after she tried to sabotage me. Then I wrote about it medium.com/@kaybaeparker/ RETWEETS LIKES 719 1,303 princessnijireiki: corvussy: saturnineaqua: ghettablasta: Kayla Renee Parker shared her story of how she managed to expose her racist teacher who appeared to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. “She wears a safety pin so everyone knows she’s an ally for minorities. Her cover photo has a Black power fist. She regularly discusses her love for the Obamas, the Black Lives Matter Movement, and her admonishment for this current administration.” However, it wasn’t enough to hide her racism.  It all started with a simple question from a test. The question stated,  “Historical research on African-American families during slavery shows that: A) Family ties weren’t important in African cultures where the slaves ancestors originated; consequently, family bonds were never strong among slaves. B) Two-parent families were extremely rare during the slave period. C) Black family bonds were destroyed by the abuses of slave owners, who regularly sold off family members to other slave owners. D) Most slave families were headed by two parents. So, obviously, Kayla chose C. And it was incorrect. According to the teacher, the right answer was D. The argument started when Kayla wrote her an email and respectfully provided the professor the evidence, even directly from their textbook. “However, my Professor continued to argue that family bonds were not destroyed and that 2/3 of slave families were headed by two parents.” The teacher cited Herbert Gutman, sociologist, who died in 1985 and surely took part in the whitewashing of Black history. When they met to discuss the subject in person the professor gave Kayla books to read adding such statements as, “This book would be good for you to read. I believe it’s $6 so I could buy it for you if you’d like.” The stated that she spent her whole life fighting for minorities and something like “I’ve got Black friends.”  When the girl was proving her opinion, she heard more comments as, “You’re talking to someone who has spent their entire life fighting for people of diversity and marched with my Black brothers and sisters.” As the result, the teacher asked Kayla to lecture the class on the topic and that was her fatal mistake. Kayla took all her courage and made a presentation on the topic she was passionate about. She defended Black people and Black history. Here’s her presentation. That was the point where the story should end, but NO. The professor obviously forgot about privacy settings on Facebook and posted offensive comments about Kayla. The professor’s last words to Kayla were: This time The University of Tennessee stood up for the student. In July the teacher officially retiring from the university. This is fucking insane. The last paragraph of kaya’s story is everything: To my Professor, I forgive you for robbing me of my focus last semester. I forgive you for calling my Father, a graduate of Yale Medical School, “educationally challenged.” I even forgive you for threatening me. However, I do not forgive you for being willfully ignorant to the subjects you teach students. I also do not forgive you for claiming to be an ally. An ally is so much more than wearing a safety pin. It also requires that you listen to the needs of Black people and respect the issues that we raise. When a Black student raises a concern over the way you are portraying her history, referring to all you’ve done for Black people doesn’t change the fact that you’re portraying slavery as some kind of slavery lite. As an educator and as an ally, you are not expected to know everything but this does not abdicate you from the responsibility of always continuing to learn- even from your students. Additionally, if you wanted to actually help Black men and women, you’d value our words. Unfortunately, your actions simply mirror how America values Black people in today’s society. This Black girl is a hero who overcame her fear and faced her teacher defending Black people and Black history.  #StayWoke #BlackPride #StopRacists this is why…white women…cant teach black people, or people of color as a whole. White supremacy has a long history of setting up white women to destroy people of color namely black and native people) via education.  I was going through my old likes and decided to see if there was any updates in this story. The professor was arrested for assaulting Kayla in a grocery store but the charges were dismissed by a judge on the condition Morelock has no further contact with Kayla I couldn’t find any more recent news on Kayla than what was said in the second link, but I sincerely hope she wasn’t in any way negatively impacted because of the situation with Morelock, especially since the second link says there were multiple other faculty members that defended Morelock… this is why I do not and never will like white educators. Morelock also continues to post about Kayla on her public Facebook, but (probably for ongoing legal reasons) still can’t or won’t name her directly. You can’t underestimate people’s hatefulness the depth of their vindictive and petty fixations out here— even especially people in a position of power over you with the potential to harm you, “ally” or no. And Kayla seems to be doing well! Her FB page says she became a Director at Amnesty International, and has just moved forward to become a Canvass Director for Care.org. Folks will try to block your blessings and drag you down to their hater-ass level in the mud, but you gotta fight keep on shining. ☀️

U suppose to be a man? Where these cravings come from?” I am a man and I am not pregnant cot damn it is called leg day at the gym and my quads jello RN and this place is real asf it is called La Michoacana 🍦😍. You do not have to be carrying a baby to enjoy this heavenly place, but if you are, it probably make it that much better 🤰🏻. You can find these joints everywhere. There are a bunch in Chicago and they are splendid. “wow smash you really gon stunt on us like that, I live in Bombacrab Missouri, we don’t have anything that spicy here.” BISH YES U DO, LOOK 👏 FOR 👏 THE 👏 MEXICANS 👏😂. I been telling y’all they got treasures for days u just gotta be exploratory. Perhaps a Mangonada? Lil mango wif chamoy sauce, mangos, lime juice, chili powder? “HOT SPICES ON FRUIT SMASH U EITHER WILDING OR U REALLY MEXICAN.” well I am not Mexican so that mean I am wilding, yes, AND? 😂 just put in ya mouth. personally I eat a$$ so I’ll try anything once ... my palette very experimental 🥳. The worst that can happen is that you love it and then you start making mangonada for yourself and then put on your tinder profile that you make a mean mangonada and you get swiped by a young investment banker named Julio who grew up around Mexico city and then got a degree in engineering and moved to America to kill it in banking and now you getting married and taking trips first class on his frequent flyer miles and your friend Megan is like “damn my boyfriend Jim is still sleeping on my couch, playing fork knife on my TV and stealing money out of my purse how did you get to be balling like this?” And you can say I took smash’s advice and started making spicy mango drinks and now I’m pregnant with my third mixed baby and we going to Paris next month. America, Bailey Jay, and Children: ElleGato @ellle_enm The Holocaust is not "fading from memory" The United States is unwilling to teach history responsibly. The Holocaust is being erased The New York Times@nytimes 41% percent of Americans cannot say what Auschwitz was, a survey found nyti.ms/ 2JF9EEn 4/12/18, 1:21 PM musingsdeme: So I’m a historian who works particularly on the relationship between trauma, national memory, and childhood.  The focus of my research is not the Holocaust, but it’s a subject upon which I’ve taught, mused, written, and examined.  A few years ago, I was a TA in a class on the Holocaust (cross listed in the History Department and the Department of Judaic Studies) at a US University (a pretty prestigious one). Most of the course focused on the realities of the Holocaust:  what happened?  how?  why? Now because of my areas of expertise/interest, I was invited to give a lecture to the entire class as opposed to teaching my particular subset of students each week.  The subject of the lecture?  The Holocaust in US education and children’s/YA literature.  The thing that I found most distressing about this lecture?  The fact that only about nine state in the US require that students learn about the Holocaust in classrooms.  Among those only a few require it as a part of history or social studies classes, the rest require it as part of language arts.  And, the way that students actually learn about this subject is determined at the discretion of the school district, which means that, as long as students meet the general requirements of standardized tests, they don’t have to learn particular details.  So, let that sink in.  Even more distressing?  The states that “require” students to learn about the Holocaust, have only done so since (at the earliest) the 1980s, and far more likely the 1990s and 2000s.  This means that there is an entire generation whose knowledge of the Holocaust comes from popular media and triumphant narratives about US involvement in WWII:  these narratives are hugely false, and what I call the “Punching Hitler” story after the iconic image of Captain America socking Hitler in the jaw.  In the US the general shared narrative about WWII is that the US went over the Europe, lost a lot of boys, but killed Hitler, won the war, and saved the Jews.  o__O  That’s…not what happened.   In a class of 200 students, only about 10 percent knew anything about how the Holocaust happened.  They didn’t know about the groups that were targeted, the way that anti-semitism and opportunistic nationalist politics helped make it happen, they didn’t know about complicity or bystandardism.  They knew nothing.  They didn’t know that US officials were aware of what was happening and refused to get involved in the war.  They didn’t understand that there was concurrent anti-semitism and racism in the US.  They were taught none of these things.  And that is actually terrifying, not only because it means that these kids have no idea about the past, but because they can’t see the giant flashing warning signs in our current socio-political world.

North American Education system. this is basically any public school in the world tbh bet the football teams have new equiptment though Whoop there it is No I’m not even kidding I bet my life that there is equipment and a well managed field for the football team. Probably a good baseball and basketball team for guys. Other sports not so much. This is NOT any public schooling system in the world! Australian public schools do not have this problem! How the fuck does a school not afford basic bathroom amenities?! If that happened here there would be an immediate school funding revision campaign! I assume you guys are joking about the football teams because there’s no way overblown American sports movies are real. Does your government just… not fund schools?  A running joke in my high school is “…but we can’t afford paper!” because a few years ago, my entire school system had us recycling each and every scrap and refusing to pay to get teachers copier paper. We were all asked to bring in our own paper, because school just wasn’t going to provide paper anything. Ironically, same year the football field was renovated. That… That can’t possibly be right.  My high school had chunks of the ceiling falling down periodically, because of water and mold damage. I remember being in the gym for basketball practice and a huge grate fell down and scared the crap out of us. No one was ever hurt, and the state health department declared the levels of mold to be “not immediately dangerous” and so it was left alone. They once had to close down an entire section of hallway and stairs because one year, the toilets flooded on the second floor and soaked into the ceiling and walls. The next year, a chunk of ceiling fell out right below that, and the toxic variety of black mold was found. Again, the levels were “not dangerous” so they blocked off the area for a few weeks (making it impossible to get to class on time) until it was “cleaned up”. There were no windows, because when the school was built it was right next to an international airport (that has since moved) and the noise was too much at the time. So in order to keep the air flowing, they pumped air conditioning year round, including winter. And yes- the football field was in fact completely renovated before the buildings were even touched. 5 years prior to the original start date of high school building renovations. Also, while the football field was built with out a single hiccup, the school renovation was actually stopped after it started and halted for 4 years because the town didn’t want to spend the money on it. People argued that taxes shouldn’t be raised for that since they felt the buildings were fine as they were. Welcome to American public schools.  WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOUR SCHOOL SYSTEM?? FOOTBALL OVERT RELIGIOUS LOBBYING SCHOOL SHOOTINGS CRUMBLING BUILDINGS AND NO SOAP DO YOU LIVE IN A SEMI-DYSTOPIAN NOVEL A few years ago the music program lost funding for all things musical and we have to raise all our money ourself. And in addition to that, in the music hall the ceiling started to fall in and flood the band lockers and there are still whole tiles not in the ceiling from the water. But you know what the football team got all new uniforms. American schools have always sucked ass. Now you all know why. I remember one year we were all walking around for a week or so with all the hallway lights turned off so we could save money. School lunch was a joke. There weren’t enough text books for everyone. I got a D in calculus because I had no book. The theatre department had to have car washes on Sundays to raise money. But of course football was the only concern. I remember the yearbook had like the first 20 pages dedicated to sports and then the rest of us had one page, if that. My senior year, our theatre page had to share with the foreign exchange students. You know in Glee when all the glee kids have to raise money for everything and Sue spends a shit ton of money on the cheerleaders? Not even an exaggeration. Our theater program funding was cut to send our football team to St. Louis. They didn’t win anything but they tried really hard so they deserved a team trip. If this shit happened in England there would uproar I went to a private school where I was the French Club President, and our advisor was privately informed that all of the money we had been raising all year long would be absorbed into the Athletic Fund if there was anything left at the end of the school year. In response to this injustice, we decided to make an annual event a month before school ended where we would all go the Refectory (aka a fancy French restaurant in the city) and spend every single cent of our hard earned treasury. Like, this was just ONE instance that affected me personally. Things like this happen all the time in the United States. All throughout my experience with public schools in America (all 14 years of it), I always remembered that when we had to buy our own school supplies, and we were always told to buy classroom supplies like kleenexs, soap, hand sanitizers, and more. Because once the classroom ran out of this stuff we had nothing. And once I got into high school no one ever brought this stuff for the classrooms so I always found mucus rubbed on the walls in some classrooms and bathrooms and it’s was absolutely disgusting. And guess where all our money from the state went to? The high school football team. Within the past year or so our taxes went up because my old high school expanded the football field’s bleachers/seating. Also, despite all of our signatures in our town for a petition to prevent a ‘student activity center’ being built next to the school where it would be for the most important student athletes, the school got their way. And guess who doesn’t have enough money to support their programs? The fine arts programs. I had friends who were in choir, band, etc. that had to find ways to raise money for their programs since the school never cared to fund them. It’s either that, or the teachers pull money off of their paycheck to provide supplies for their students (and public school teachers don’t have good salaries anyways in the US), whereas the school uses all their state funds for the football team. It’s ridiculous, and I’m glad I’m no longer in high school having to deal with a school who worships their football team, while all the other programs suffer to remain in the school. I haven’t been in highschool in 7 years but my brother is currently in highschool. Apparently the school is in much worse condition than when I left, with some classes having lessons outside because the a/c was busted and the school refused to fix it. Programs related to art are royally screwed and have to raise their own money or find their own supplies. We had to go DUMPSTER DIVING for art supplies. In Pom (dance team) we had to raise our own money for a Disney trip despite Disney having invited us to perform after we had won multiple state championships. Same happened to the cheer team the following year after I graduated. Performing arts often has to make their own sets from whatever scrap gets donated or gets found by teachers/students. We had to raise all kinds of money and were forced to reduce prices of tickets for performances because “people shouldn’t have to pay that much for a show” by the school (our shows were $10). Band is still in the same shitty facility as it was when I was there with shitty acoustics and shittier uniforms. But you can bet your ass the football team got all kinds of goodies. Like new equipment, new uniforms, new gym equipment and A FUCKING INDOOR FOOTBALL FIELD! Our team sucked when I was in highschool and they still suck now. The school is letting teachers go due to budget cuts but they’re STILL hiring a new coach just because the last one (who had only been there a year) didn’t win a championship (which football hasn’t won a championship in almost 30 years). Coaches get paid more than regular teachers even if they don’t teach a subject aside from football. They also often bully other teachers into boosting a students’ grade just so they won’t be ineligible to play an upcoming game. This is why I hate highschool football. In America it’s seen as a religion. Football takes priority before EVERYTHING even though hardly any students have a career in football after highschool or college. Even though most scholarships are based on academics and OTHER extra curricular activities. But fuck that, the football team gets all the money. Fuck football. Infographic: Is Your State’s Highest-Paid Employee A Coach? (Probably) There is a reason people who didn’t play sports in school hated people who did with a fucking passion Our band won 1st all season and it was hardly mentioned meanwhile football getting 4th was top priority on the announcements. Plus, the entire instrumental music program ran out of funds 3 months in. We are one of the highest funded music programs in the district.

North American Education system.</p> </blockquote> <p>this is basically any public school in the world tbh</p> </blockquote> <p>bet the football teams have new equiptment though</p> </blockquote> <p>Whoop there it is</p> </blockquote> <p>No I’m not even kidding I bet my life that there is equipment and a well managed field for the football team. Probably a good baseball and basketball team for guys. Other sports not so much.</p> </blockquote> <p>This is NOT any public schooling system in the world! </p> </blockquote> <p>A running joke in my high school is “…but we can’t afford paper!” because a few years ago, my entire school system had us recycling each and every scrap and refusing to pay to get teachers copier paper. We were all asked to bring in our own paper, because school just wasn’t going to provide paper anything. Ironically, same year the football field was renovated.</p> </blockquote> <p>That…</p> <p>That can’t possibly be right. </p> </blockquote> <p>My high school had chunks of the ceiling falling down periodically, because of water and mold damage. I remember being in the gym for basketball practice and a huge grate fell down and scared the crap out of us. No one was ever hurt, and the state health department declared the levels of mold to be “not immediately dangerous” and so it was left alone. <br/><br/>They once had to close down an entire section of hallway and stairs because one year, the toilets flooded on the second floor and soaked into the ceiling and walls. <br/><br/>And yes- the football field was in fact completely renovated before the buildings were even touched. </p> </blockquote> <p>WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOUR SCHOOL SYSTEM??</p> <p>FOOTBALL</p> <p>OVERT RELIGIOUS LOBBYING</p> <p>SCHOOL SHOOTINGS</p> <p>CRUMBLING BUILDINGS AND NO SOAP</p> <p>DO YOU LIVE IN A SEMI-DYSTOPIAN NOVEL</p> </blockquote> <p>A few years ago the music program lost funding for all things musical and we have to raise all our money ourself. And in addition to that, in the music hall the ceiling started to fall in and flood the band lockers and there are still whole tiles not in the ceiling from the water. But you know what the football team got all new uniforms.</p> </blockquote> <p>American schools have always sucked ass. Now you all know why.</p> </blockquote> <p>I remember one year we were all walking around for a week or so with all the hallway lights turned off so we could save money. My senior year, our theatre page had to share with the foreign exchange students.</p> <p>You know in Glee when all the glee kids have to raise money for everything and Sue spends a shit ton of money on the cheerleaders? Not even an exaggeration.</p> </blockquote> <p>Our theater program funding was cut to send our football team to St. Louis. They didn’t win anything but they tried really hard so they deserved a team trip.</p> </blockquote> <p>If this shit happened in England there would uproar</p> </blockquote> <p>I went to a private school where I was the French Club President, and our advisor was privately informed that all of the money we had been raising all year long would be absorbed into the Athletic Fund if there was anything left at the end of the school year. In response to this injustice, we decided to make an annual event a month before school ended where we would all go the Refectory (aka a fancy French restaurant in the city) and spend every single cent of our hard earned treasury. Like, this was just ONE instance that affected me personally. Things like this happen all the time in the United States.</p> </blockquote> <p>All throughout my experience with public schools in America (all 14 years of it), I always remembered that when we had to buy our own school supplies, and we were always told to buy classroom supplies like kleenexs, soap, hand sanitizers, and more. Because once the classroom ran out of this stuff we had nothing. And once I got into high school no one ever brought this stuff for the classrooms so I always found mucus rubbed on the walls in some classrooms and bathrooms and it’s was absolutely disgusting.</p> <p>And guess where all our money from the state went to? It’s ridiculous, and I’m glad I’m no longer in high school having to deal with a school who worships their football team, while all the other programs suffer to remain in the school.</p> </blockquote> <p>I haven’t been in highschool in 7 years but my brother is currently in highschool. The textbooks are school property? </p> </blockquote> <p>Yeah textbooks are paid for and provided by the school </p> </blockquote> <p>See my school was always the opposite of this… Well funded in pretty much every area except sports lol. In fact the departments that got the most funding were the arts, theater especially. I guess it’s just a school full of nerds? I mean our best varsity team was always robotics if that tells you anything… Honestly though the problem isn’t how much money the school’s being given usually, it’s how that money’s being spent. If all your money’s going towards sports while the rest of the school is falling apart, there’s a problem.</p></blockquote> <p>At the school where I teach we are always running out of things. Clothes, Head, and Life: TEACHER WAS REALLY WORRIED FOR THIS KID WITH IRRESPONSIBLE PARENTS, SHE FOUGHT BACK TEARS WHEN ANOTHER TEACHER SAID THIS At first glance, Ronny looked like every other kid in the first-grade classroom where I volunteered as the Reading Mom. Wind-blown hair, scuffed shoes, a little bit of dirtbehind his ears, some kind of sandwich smear around his mouth On closer inspection, though, the layer of dirt on Ronny's face, the crusty nose, and the packed grime under his fingernails told me he didn't get dirty at school. He arrived that way. His clothes were ragged and mismatched, his sneakers had string for laces, and his backpack was no more than a plastic shopping bag. Along with his outward appearance, Ronny stood apart from his classmates in other ways, too. He had a speech impediment, wasn't reading or writing at grade-level, and had already been held back a year, making him eight-years-old in the first grade. His home life was a shambles with transient parents who uprooted him at their whim. He had yet to live a full year in any one place. I quickly learned that beneath his grungy exterior, Ronny possessed a spark, a resilience that I'd never seen in a child who faced such tremendous odds. I worked with all the students in Ronny's class on a one-on-one basis to improve their reading skills. Each day, Ronny's head twisted around as l came into the classroom, and his eyes followed me as I set up in a corner, imploring, "Pick me! Pick me!" Of course l couldn't pick him every day Other kids needed my help, too. <p>Teacher Is Worried For This Kid With Irresponsible Parents. She Fought Back Tears When Another Teacher Said This.</p>

How would that be exactly?  Do you know how much the “rich” are taxed today?</p> </blockquote> <p>Lemme put it to you this way: I work a near-minimum wage job at 12% income tax. This is where a  lot of Americans are these days. That tax money accounts for approximately 20% of the tax money for the US government. The other 80%? The top 1% of Americans paying an average of 20%, give or take. And yet while I struggle to pay rent, keep my car insured and running, and put food on the table, the top 1% have four houses, a dozen sports cars, private islands, yachts, and private jets, all of which they pay to own and maintain. And yet they still have more money left over than it is humanly possible to spend unless you want to buy your own country.</p> <p>So when I say “tax the rich the way they should be taxed” I mean “tax them in such a way that they’re still able to live their extravagant lifestyles but I wouldn’t have had to bury my dad because we couldn’t pay his damn hospital bills”. And if you want sources for any of this, do a quick Google search. The first three or four links should be very informative for you.</p> </blockquote> <p>Where’s that comic of Bernie sanders kicking down a sandcastle and saying “stop having a better sandcastle than me” </p> <p>I’m sorry for your current situation, I really am, but it’s not like it’s the rich’s fault</p> </blockquote> <p>Yeah but the rich have enough money that raising their taxes won’t affect them but it’ll affect the rest of the country in a positive way </p> <p>Also, trump doesn’t even need negative reasoning, he’s just a straight up asshole with no filter that will probably get us in trouble with other countries</p> </blockquote> <p>So, what’s an acceptable amount the “rich” should pay of their own earnings and what income range should be considered for that particular bracket? What, in your opinion, is “enough money” exactly?</p> </blockquote> <p>We have lost track of what is public and what is private.<br/>Natural resources are public, belonging to all the people of the countries possessing the resources. </p> <p><br/>We, the people, own the oil, gas, natural gas, coal, air, water and timber in America, not the Koch Brothers, Weyerhauser, Georgia Pacific, Chevron, Exxon, Peabody, Coca Cola or any private corporation. The private industries, under Roosevelt and Eisenhower, paid 94% tax on their income as the cost of the product owned by the american people. They kept 6% of the profit for themselves as a royalty payment for extracting our resources and selling them back to us. Rockefeller, paying 94% tax, was still the richest man in the world and a philanthropist. Our government used the taxes to provide health, education, job training, low cost home loans and retirement benefits for our citizens. The graduated income tax (those with the greatest resources and incomes paid the most, those in the lower income levels paid the least) helped America become the richest nation with the largest middle class on earth. Until..</p> <p>Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Dick Cheney and the Bushes cut the taxes on the richest among us, and the corporations they owned, to little or nothing, foisting upon us the ludicrous idea a few people, including themselves, should own our natural resources in a scheme they call “Privatization”. </p> <p>After Kissenger/Cheney’s “Endless War” scheme, Privatization became the worst of their legacy. Neither you, nor I, nor Corrections Corporation of America, have any right to own and operate prisons for profit. </p> <p>Should you and I be able to have our own Private armies and the weapons of war? No. Neither you, I or Blackwater/XE, has any right to own armies or the weapons of war. That is a public function.
