In fact, Ashanti has become the most recent black female celebrity to share her own MeToo story. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The ‘Foolish’ singer spilled the details in an interview on SiriusXM’s “Conversation with Maria Menounos,” as she revealed that she was sexually harassed by a producer, who refused to release her music without an exchange of sexual favors. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I’ve come across a situation where there was a certain producer that, you know, he had his little crush or whatever, but it wasn’t anything new, you know,” Ashanti said. “And once I said ‘no,’ all of a sudden the track became $45k.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “It’s funny because he said something like, ‘Well just take a shower with me and let me do this,” she continued, as she explained the producer apologized when one of her “big brothers” stepped in. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “The way that apology came in, I actually got three records for free,” Ashanti said. “And I got two of them mixed and mastered for free also.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, according to the songstress, not everyone is blessed to have people that look out for them and protect them, when need be. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I’m blessed because I have that,” she said, as she reflected on her experience. “It happens it does and it’s unfortunate.”

Fashion, Kanye, and Memes: Virgil Abloh Named Louis Vuitton's New Menswear Designer @balleralert Virgil Abloh Named Louis Vuitton’s New Menswear Designer -blogged by @peachkyss ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The founder of streetwear brand Off-White and Kanye West’s longtime creative director, Virgil Abloh, has been named Louis Vuitton’s New Menswear Designer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Abloh is the first African American artistic director, and one of the few black designers at the top of a French heritage house. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The designer expressed his excitement about the new position, saying, “I feel elated. This opportunity to think through what the next chapter of design and luxury will mean at a brand that represents the pinnacle of luxury was always a goal in my wildest dreams. And to show a younger generation that there is no one way anyone in this kind of position has to look is a fantastically modern spirit in which to start.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Bringing Abloh onboard is going to bring a new look and vibe to the men’s collection. “Product is only one part of the luxury narrative,” he continued. “I want to use Louis Vuitton’s history with travel to really look at different cultures around the world to help make all our humanity visible. When creativity melds together with global issues, I believe you can bring the world together. Fashion on this level can really open eyes.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Although Abloh has taken on a new position, he will continue to run Off-White, which he says is for his 17-year-old self. Louis Vuitton will represent who he is today at 37-years-old. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection will make its debut in June for Paris Men Fashion Week. Apparently, Best Friend, and Fresh: Your Instagram Feed Is Going Back To Showing Newer Posts First @balleralert Your Instagram Feed Is Going Back To Showing Newer Posts First -blogged by @theRealAlexisDanielle ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Remember when your Instagram used to show pictures and videos in chronological order and you weren’t seeing day old posts at the top of your feed? Well, the app we all love is apparently gearing up to get back to that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s no secret that many of its users weren’t too fond of Instagram’s change in algorithm, which began back in 2016. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now, in a press release shared Thursday, the app announced plans to keep your feeds “more fresh,” ensuring that you don’t miss newer posts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Based on your feedback, we’re also making changes to ensure that newer posts are more likely to appear first in the feed,” the statement released to Instagram-press.com read. “With these changes, your feed will feel more fresh, and you won’t miss the moments you care about. So if your best friend shares a selfie from her vacation in Australia, it will be waiting for you when you wake up.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ IG also announced a new “refresh feed” button that will keep your feed from automatically updating when it’s refreshed. Yes, that means you’ll stop losing your place after you’ve been scrolling for five minutes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Instagram says they’ll continue to implement changes over the next few months in an effort to improve users’ experiences. Drugs, Jail, and Memes: ethiopienne Pro-tip: white privilege doesn't mean white people have perfect lives. It means that white people do not have to deal with institutionalized, systemic racism in addition to their everyday problems. It means institutionalized, systemic racism does not cause white people's everyday problems. If your first reaction is to be angry and comment why this is wrong, take a deep breath, slowly read the post again and wait for the words to sink in. Think about what this is saying and try to deeply consider what this means, especially coming from someone who is not white. No one is saying white people have perfect lives, don't have problems, or even that there's no way they can be bullied-discrimanated against because of how they look. The difference is that racism isn't just a feeling or thought, it's INSTITUTIONALIZED and SYSTEMATIC, which means that you have laws (Jim Crow, housing discrimination, voter ID laws-voter discrimination, redlining), history, powerful figures, etc etc etc against you, not just individuals being rude to you. Yes you can be white and poor, you can be white and be bullied, you can be white and have problems. It's just that these problems are NOT reinforced by or due to a historic, systematic, institutional oppression based solely on your race-ethnicity. In the US for example, the country was built by white men with laws for white men. Over time, many of these laws have changed: ex. everyone has the legal right to vote now, slavery is illegal, Jim Crow laws no longer exist. Unfortunately, these laws don't just end; they evolve. All people can vote, yet voter ID laws disproportionately prevent people of color in poor communities from voting. Slavery is illegal, yet black men disproportionately fill jail cells and are exploited for their labor while privatized prisons profit off their incarceration (see: war on drugs, or "13th" on Netflix). I can list examples like those two all day, but the point is that people of color continue to face institutionalized, systematic racism that has legal & political backing and an entire history causing and justifying it. White people do not have to deal with that, hence the term "white privilege." And, again, no one is saying white people don't have problems. That's not what "white privilege" means.
